With his younger sister Sayu kidnapped and the NPA's Death Note demanded as ransom, Light must travel across the world and confront two new adversaries, each with a very different agenda. About the author

Tsugumi Ōba (Profile in Japanese: 大場 つぐみ), born in Tokyo, Japan, is a writer best known for the manga Death Note. His/her real identity is a closely guarded secret. As stated by the profile placed at the beginning of each Death Note manga, Ōba collects teacups and develops manga plots while holding his knees on a chair, similar to a habit of L, one of the main characters of the series.

There is speculation that Tsugumi Ōba is a pen name and that he is really Hiroshi Gamō. Pointing out that in Bakuman the main character's uncle was a one-hit wonder manga artist who worked on a gag super hero manga, very similar to Gamō and Tottemo! Luckyman in all aspects. Also that the storyboards drawn by Ōba greatly resemble Tottemo! Luckyman in style.

The series really took a nosedive in this installment.

There was simply no comparison to the brilliance and excitement that was present in the earlier installments, especially when it came to the character of Light.

Light was such a captivating and complex character, and his presence brought a certain energy and tension to the story.

However, in this particular entry, it felt like the magic was gone.

The plot seemed to lack direction, and the new characters and storylines failed to engage and thrill in the same way that Light did.

It was truly a disappointment to see the series decline in this manner, and it left many fans longing for the days when it was at its peak.

Toxic behavior is something that is generally not accepted or liked. However, the statement "Toxic behavior of me but I actually like mello" presents an interesting and perhaps controversial perspective.

It makes one wonder if it is possible to have toxic behavior and still have a preference for something like mello. Maybe the person is aware of their toxic traits but still finds enjoyment in mello for some reason.

On the other hand, some might argue that having toxic behavior and liking mello is not controversial at all. They might say that everyone has their own unique preferences and behaviors, and as long as it doesn't harm others, it's okay.

Ultimately, whether this statement is controversial or not depends on one's perspective and values. Some might view it as a red flag, while others might see it as a personal quirk. What do you think?

And here my problems begin. I still have a soft spot for Kira, but seriously, did you see Mello? How could one not be completely obsessed with him? His charm and that chocolate of his have me under their spell. I find myself constantly thinking about him.

I truly believe that if Mello had been the one going up against Kira right from the start, I would have wholeheartedly supported him. But now, the situation is a bit more complicated. Can I somehow have the best of both worlds? Can I support both Mello and still have some sort of connection to Kira?

And then there's Near. I don't know. He always gives me the impression of a little monkey. He's cute and all, but other than that, I don't really feel a strong pull towards him. There's just something about Mello that keeps drawing me in.

I just can't come to terms with the fact that my favorite character has been taken from history =(

It really makes me feel disappointed and a bit heartbroken. I had such a deep connection with that character, imagining their adventures and experiences. But now, to know that they are no longer there in the way I thought they were, it's like a part of my world has been shattered.

I keep thinking about all the things I loved about that character, their unique qualities, their charm. And it's so hard to accept that they are gone. I wonder if there's any way to bring them back, at least in my imagination.

Maybe I need to find a new way to remember them, to keep their spirit alive. But for now, I'm still struggling with this loss.

Oh, we have fallen into a standstill with this part of the story.

And I can't believe I'm saying this, but Light's arrogance is starting to get on my nerves.

And maybe I'm starting to develop sympathy for one of his new opponents.

Maybe it's because he keeps giving chocolates to a girl in every scene, I don't know.

On the other hand, Light still doesn't suspect, but he is waging a war on three fronts, not two as he thinks, and yet he manages to maintain the same tempo and even slightly outwit his enemies.

Besides, I think I miss Rem, because Ryuk is definitely not as cool as Shinigami.

Rather, he is an intriguer who is looking for trouble, without a drop of loyalty to the owner of the notebook.

This makes the development of the story unpredictable, but it also annoys me because it throws new spanners into Light's plans.

But as much as Light nerves me, I still like him as a psycho.

Come on, you understand me...

I can't believe Light wanted to kill his sister! It's truly astonishing. He has completely gone down the path of evil.

His actions are despicable and show how far he has fallen from his initial ideals. I truly wish he had met a fate that he deserved, something that would have punished him for his heinous deeds.

And then there's Misa. What is wrong with her? She comes across as extremely dumb in this manga.

It seems that the portrayal of her character is rather one-sided and might give the impression that the manga is sexist.

However, it's important to analyze the story as a whole and not just focus on these individual aspects. Maybe there are deeper meanings and character developments that we haven't fully grasped yet.

Nonetheless, these are the initial impressions that come to mind while reading this manga.

And, at last, Death Note is good again.

It'll sound weird to a lot of fans that I'm saying that. A lot of fans hate this arc - from this volume until volume 12, things went downhill for a lot of people. But I just don't get that, to be honest. Yes, I miss L, just like everybody else. However, the fact that one character died doesn't suddenly make the series bad. Moreover, the memoryless Light arc was so terrible that this is a welcome break. That arc was filled with plotholes, it was thematically boring, and it was predictable. This is a return to form for Death Note - finally, things are interesting and suspenseful again.

Things are so good that the misogyny can barely even harsh my mellow. Yes, it pisses me off that Misa is happy under Light's blatant abuse, happy to be his subordinate, happy to be manipulated. But I'm just so happy that Ohba got the series back on track that I barely even care. Light's sister being kidnapped was one of the most suspenseful arcs here. It was genuinely difficult to tell what Light would do, something we haven't seen in ages. And it's cool to see that he isn't actually a psychopath. Light would've killed anyone else to get the notebook back, but he spared his sister. He doesn't feel comfortable going quite that far. His mind can be changed, and he does have sympathy. It's pretty subtle, but it's one of the most significant parts of the series, if you ask me.

Things are more complicated here than at any other point in the series. Before, it had been Kira vs. L, then L vs. Yotsuba. Now, it's Kira vs. the Japanese Police Force vs. the SPK vs. the Mafia. Not to mention Shinigami interference. Each group is fairly self-interested, and each group has different goals. A lot of fans claim that things get confusing in this arc, and I do see where they're coming from. But if you can keep up with it - and it's not that hard, if you're willing to give it all your mental attention - it's very engaging. The gambits pile on top of each other, and Ohba brings it together beautifully.

Overall, other than the misogyny, I'm finding very little to complain about. There are only four volumes left, and I really don't want this series to end.

Ach, this is so divine!

I also want to be such a glutton. And I want chocolate.

You know, sometimes the simple pleasures in life, like indulging in delicious chocolate, can bring us so much joy.

When I think about that smooth and rich taste melting in my mouth, it makes my heart skip a beat.

Just imagining myself as a padouch, completely immersed in the world of chocolate, is a wonderful feeling.

I can picture myself sitting in a cozy corner, surrounded by all kinds of chocolates, savoring each and every one.

It's like a little slice of heaven on earth.

So, yes, I really do want to be that kind of padouch and enjoy the sweet goodness of chocolate to my heart's content.
