So many interesting stories.

I am an extremely avid water drinker myself. I have a strong preference for water and hardly ever consume other fluids. As a result, I rarely experience headaches or other body issues.

Recently, I have decided to add sole to my diet. I am curious to see how it can bring benefits to my life.

Sole is a type of mineral-rich water that is said to have various health advantages. It is believed to support digestion, boost the immune system, and improve overall well-being.

I am excited to embark on this new dietary experiment and observe the potential changes in my body and health. I will keep track of my progress and see if adding sole to my daily routine can indeed have a positive impact on my life.

This book was extremely technical for me.

However, I would still recommend it to anyone.

If you don't have an affinity for technical details, you can simply skim across the medical terms.

I discovered that the advice to drink more water was very sensible.

We are all inhabitants of this Earth, and both we and the Earth are composed mostly of water.

It became clear to me that dehydration could potentially be the cause of my ailments.

I detest taking medication because the side effects are often either worse than or as bad as the actual sickness.

Therefore, I am definitely making a conscious effort to drink more water.

Surprisingly, I'm actually starting to develop a liking for it.

It's amazing how a simple change like increasing water intake can have such a significant impact on our well-being.

I look forward to seeing the long-term benefits of this new habit.

Perhaps others should also consider giving it a try.

Who knows, it might just be the solution to many of our health problems.

This book changed my life!

I still remember the first time I picked up this book. The moment I opened it, I was immediately drawn into its captivating world. The words seemed to dance on the page, painting vivid pictures in my mind.

It took me a considerable amount of time to really get into this book.

The main reason was that I didn't have a liking for his writing style.

Moreover, the numerous letters from patients gave off a really salesy vibe, and often it just seemed rather hokey.

I had a hard time trusting many of his claims as there didn't appear to be substantial scientific backing or proper citing of sources for a large number of them.

Additionally, he was overly hyperbolic when it came to water curing practically everything and suggesting that it was almost all one needed to reverse problems and maintain good health.

However, there are still 3 things that I learned from this book and am glad to know.

First, the body gives priority to the hydration of the brain over any other organ or system.

Second, the brain not only utilizes sugar/glucose for energy but also obtains energy through hydroelectric processes, which are provided by water. As a result, not all "hunger" signals are necessarily for food; they could also be for water.

Finally, dehydration leads to a depletion in tryptophan, which is an important precursor to serotonin, melatonin, DNA repair, and pain sensitivity.

These are some of the interesting facts that I managed to pick up from this book despite my initial reservations.

We're all dehydrated and in desperate need of drinking more water.

He makes the claim that artificial sweeteners can, in fact, prompt us to consume more. Additionally, he emphasizes that along with proper hydration, walking helps tryptophan reach the brain. The properties of tryptophan are not only crucial for preventing the development of cancer cells in the body but also for maintaining a well-regulated balance of all the body's functions.

This book serves as a valuable reminder that imbibing plenty of water, engaging in regular exercise or walking, and adhering to healthy eating habits are fundamental to achieving good health. Lentils and green beans were specifically mentioned as excellent additions to our diet, which can further enhance our overall well-being. By incorporating these elements into our daily lives, we can take significant steps towards a healthier and more fulfilling existence.

I think at this point, to be fair, long after the initial publication of this book, we all know that drinking an adequate amount of water each day is essential for good health and has numerous benefits for almost your entire body.

That being said, this should have been a rather straightforward argument.

And yet...

This book is written in a way that triggers all my "snake oil" alarms. Upon reflection, it's the way the information is presented. There are mentions of hydration biology, but they are vague. Study references are scarcely used, and the details are frustratingly nonspecific. Instead, we are bombarded with grand claims such as "you're not sick," "medicine is poison," and "this will save the economy," along with heaps of anecdotes. I understand that anecdotes can seem important and can be useful for the author to paint a vivid picture, but let's be clear, anecdotes don't prove anything. Surely, this very basic concept of "water is good for you" wasn't that difficult to find evidence for. Surely, some studies have been conducted on the effects of dehydration.

There's also the questionable call to action at the end, where the author directly asks you to contact him if you have tried his water cure and it worked. Notably, he didn't even bother to ask for information from everyone who tries it, only from those for whom it supposedly worked, just in case it wasn't already obvious that these anecdotal "proofs" were cherry-picked from who knows how much overall data.

Overall, I think we can all agree that a healthy person needs to drink enough water, but I don't believe there's anything reliable to be learned from this book on the topic. These recommendations have already been widely accepted as general guidelines for health (though not, of course, as a panacea), and our diseases persist, and our economy wasn't miraculously rescued.

Interesting read, even if I don't have any of the specific ailments that the book covers. The content is truly engaging and offers valuable insights. The best thing I'll take away from the book is the author's recommendation.

The author suggests that the best times to drink water are one glass one half hour before taking food and a similar amount two and a half hours after a meal. Additionally, two more glasses should be taken around the heaviest meal or before going to bed. This advice seems quite practical and beneficial for maintaining good health.

I found the chapter on dyspeptic pain most interesting. I really appreciated the detailed explanation of why we should drink water before we eat. It was fascinating to learn that the water is absorbed immediately into the intestines and within one half hour is secreted into the stomach via the glandular level of the mucosa. This process creates a barrier between the stomach acid and the stomach lining. Without an adequate barrier, digestive pain can occur. Understanding this mechanism makes me more aware of the importance of proper hydration and its impact on our digestive system.

Overall, this book has provided me with useful information and has made me more conscious of my water intake and its potential benefits for my health.
