Batmanghelidj had a remarkable experience that led to his discovery about the effects of chronic water dehydration. While he was in prison, he was unexpectedly asked to treat prisoners despite not having any medical tools at his disposal. It was during this challenging situation that he began to notice some interesting things. He observed that many of the prisoners' ailments, which were typically treated with medicines, seemed to respond positively when they were given an adequate amount of water to treat their dehydration. This led him to suggest that perhaps a significant number of sicknesses could be effectively treated by simply prescribing water to address the underlying issue of dehydration. His insights have opened up a new perspective on healthcare and have the potential to revolutionize the way we approach the treatment of various diseases.

This book presented an interesting reading experience. It's truly worth perusing if your library happens to have a copy.

Maintaining proper hydration is indeed a crucial aspect of any health regimen. However, it's important to note that for almost all of us, other steps are also necessary. Food allergies, elevated insulin levels due to an excess of refined carbohydrates, chemical exposures, poor nutrient content in food, and numerous other issues all contribute to the development of diseases. These must be addressed in addition to ensuring an adequate intake of water.

I was not at all swayed by the testimonials regarding the water cure.

I must admit that I'm growing rather tired of authors who assert that their particular specialty is the panacea for everything! The water expert contends that all we require is water, the vitamin D expert claims that many diseases are caused by low levels of D (while only recommending extremely low levels of other nutrient supplements), and the lipid expert posits that an excess of omega 6 is the culprit behind many diseases and advocates for high levels of omega 3 fats (again, only suggesting very low levels of other nutrient supplements), and so on.

The reality is that these recommendations work most effectively when combined as part of a comprehensive and balanced nutritional program that doesn't omit any major elements or leave you severely deficient in any essential nutrient. There is no single magic solution. The body demands all the essential components to function optimally, remain healthy, and combat disease. A deficiency in any one of them will lead to problems, as ultimately, every nutrient plays a vital role.

I've been consuming copious amounts of water for years, with the addition of extra unrefined sea salt, potassium, magnesium, and calcium to maintain electrolyte balance. I can attest that I feel worse when I forget to drink my 3 liters or so, and also when I consume too much water too rapidly. I'm well aware that my body requires this much water, but this water intake alone is by no means a cure for my serious illness.

Readers should ensure they stay hydrated, but they should approach the claims that water cures all ills with a healthy dose of skepticism!

The information presented in this little book is truly invaluable.

At certain moments, it felt a bit overly "scientific" for my mind to fully grasp. However, the final conclusions reached are highly sensible and logical.

I have decided to conduct experiments regarding my water intake and hydration levels. I am eager to see if this simple adjustment can have a positive impact on curing some of the digestive issues that I have been experiencing.

Moreover, I am hopeful that the chapter within the book that claims water can be a cure for asthma will serve as an inspiration to my daughter. She has been an asthma sufferer since birth, and I truly believe that this information could potentially bring about a significant change in her condition.

I look forward to the results of my experiments and the possibility of finding a natural and effective solution to these health problems.

you should read Your Body's Many Cries for Water.

This remarkable book delves into the true meaning of proper hydration.

It reveals that there's far more to it than merely drinking water.

The author has managed to demystify our most fundamental and crucial need.

When this need goes unmet, it can lead to a whole host of undesirable conditions.

I also had the pleasure of reading You're Not Sick, You're Thirsty a few years ago and enjoyed it.

However, I would highly recommend Your Body's Many Cries for Water first.

It offers a more comprehensive and in-depth exploration of the topic, providing valuable insights that can truly transform your understanding of the importance of hydration for your overall well-being.

A book that is truly well worth everyone's reading is one that helps you determine how much water you need to be consuming.

I listened to the audible version, and it was not only highly informative but also provided just the right amount of background and scientific knowledge. This allowed me to gain a better understanding of my body and how water functions within it in such a diverse and crucial manner.

While it is one thing to know how important water is for our bodies, in this book, understanding the reasons behind it gave me a deeper appreciation. It motivated me to take action regarding my water intake and also provided other useful tips for my own well-being, which is entirely in my hands.

If you are interested in wellness and taking care of yourself, especially through complementary and natural methods of preventative health, I would highly recommend this book. I was recommended to listen to it, and I will definitely be recommending it to my friends, family, and anyone else who is willing to listen!

It is a valuable resource that can have a significant impact on your overall health and lifestyle.

Initially, the book was very interesting. However, after reading the first couple of chapters, I decided to research the author. Sadly, I found out that the author had already passed away when I was reading the book. I then sampled sections throughout the rest of the book but eventually gave up on reading it.

The book managed to convince me of the value of hydration and the healing powers of water consumption. However, I didn't believe that water was the cure-all that the author claimed it to be. I did increase my water intake somewhat and experienced no ill effects. But I'm not sure if my own health was significantly impacted. Also, I didn't encounter the health challenges that were described in the book.

It seemed to me that half of the book consisted of letters and stories about people's appreciation. While that's okay, we wouldn't expect to read negative testimonials, would we? As someone who already tries to minimize the use of medications, this book would have been more beneficial for me if it had been edited down to about half to two-thirds of its current length.

This was an extremely dense and highly technical piece of reading.

However, even for a non-expert like myself, it still held significant benefits.

I managed to glean a few useful things that I can put into practice in my daily life.

Nevertheless, I would have really liked to have received more pointed and specific guidance.

Specifically, when it comes to the salt requirements, I have some concerns.

What about the sodium that is already present in our daily foods?

How does that factor into Dr. B's guidance?

These are just a few of the questions that I was left with after reading this article.

It seems that while there is valuable information here, there are also some areas that could use further clarification and elaboration.

Perhaps in a future article, the author could address these specific questions and provide more detailed and practical advice.

Overall, though, I am still grateful for the opportunity to have read this article and have gained some useful insights from it.

You have to get past some rather astonishing statements. To be specific, the good doctor informs us that it is perfectly okay to venture out in the sun without any protection as long as you consume an adequate amount of water and ingest sufficient salt. His reasoning? He played tennis for 3 hours every day in Iran and did not develop skin cancer.

However, despite this rather odd assertion, there is still some good food for thought and a great motivator for ensuring that you consume a daily 64 - 80 ounces of water. This emphasis on proper hydration is indeed important for maintaining good health. While the doctor's claim about sun exposure without protection may be questionable, the importance of staying hydrated cannot be overstated. It helps with various bodily functions, such as regulating body temperature, transporting nutrients, and flushing out toxins. So, even if we take the doctor's advice with a grain of salt (pun intended), we should still focus on meeting our daily water intake requirements for our overall well-being.

This book is an essential resource that lucidly expounds a theory that demands immediate attention. In this theory, we no longer view the body as being governed by solutes such as minerals and vitamins. Instead, water, the life-sustaining solvent, takes precedence in regulating the functions of all systems. This comprehension of the origin of numerous pains and diseases suggests treating symptoms initially as a straightforward local thirst by advising the consumption of at least 2 liters of water per day for 2 days. This simple prerequisite for accessing pharmaceuticals would revolutionize our approach to healthcare and well-being.

The future is indeed more intricate, yet it begins with greater simplicity. We must revert to the broader concept of what binds everything together, from our bodies to our planet, our DNA to our galactic disc. Water reverberates within our unassuming third dimension.

I digress.

With water, salt, and understanding, we can prevent and heal more effectively with common sense than with chemicals and commercials. Learning solely with this new understanding of the roles that water plays creates a more vibrant space for us, for our environment, and for the simplicity of our understanding of life.

I vividly remember reading this book when it was first published in the early 1990s. Recently, I unearthed it from my library and decided to give it another go. I'm truly glad I did. Here's what happened when I increased my water intake to at least 8 cups per day. Five years ago, a doctor informed me that my kidneys were in a precarious state, functioning at only 50%. Additionally, I had high cholesterol, and my blood pressure was higher than I desired. I significantly increased my water consumption, changed my diet, and miraculously, my kidneys returned to normal. My blood pressure and cholesterol plummeted back to normal levels, and I also lost weight. At that time, I attributed it all to the diet. Now, five years later, after slipping back into some old habits, I reread this book and once again increased my water intake. What I noticed this time, just after a couple of weeks, was that the occasional heartburn vanished. The edema in my legs reduced significantly, and the severe muscle cramps also disappeared. No more did I wake up in the night with excruciating leg cramps. This alone made it well worth reading the book again to motivate my increased water intake. To ensure I get enough water, I place 64 oz (2 quarts) of water on my kitchen counter. Every time I pass by, I take a sip, and by the end of the day, it's all gone. It's not difficult to do if you're conscious of it.

As for the book, I wasn't overly fond of the writing style. At times, there was an abundance of medical/technical jargon, which I skimmed over and moved on. (And I'm an RN!) For the average person, these parts of the book might be overwhelming. However, the information gleaned was valuable, and I firmly believe that increasing water intake can cure many problems and reduce the need for numerous medications. (Losing weight might even be a pleasant little bonus.) :)

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audiobook. I had come across numerous reviews of this book, both here and in other places. The majority of them seemed to express a certain skepticism, along the lines of, "That much water? Can it really cure all those ailments?" And they would further state that they could never reach the recommended level of water intake.

However, within the audiobook, there were testimonials from individuals who claimed that they had indeed consumed the recommended amount of water and had achieved the results that the author had purported.

Accompanying these testimonials, Dr. Batmanghelidj put forward the theory that the reason more doctors do not prescribe a proper water intake level is because the medical industry would crumble without prescriptions and surgeries. It's like a big conspiracy theory, similar to the energy conspiracy that auto makers are said to perpetrate in order to support the gas refinery system.

The good doctor also delved into the complex systems of our body regarding various types of pain such as dyspeptic pain, colitis pain, false appendicitis pain, hiatus hernia, arthritis pain, low back pain, neck pain, anginal pain, headaches, stress and depression, high blood pressure, excess body weight, asthma and allergies, and both insulin independent and dependent diabetes. He then went on to explain how the proper level of water intake could counteract these maladies. He asserted that medicines used to alleviate the symptoms of many of these problems could actually dehydrate the body and exacerbate the issue, as well as many others associated with chronic dehydration.

He also prescribed some exercises to enhance water absorption into the spinal disks, such as walking every 12 hours, and the inclusion of salt in the diet. The recommended level of water intake washes out necessary salt, so it must be supplemented rather than removed from the diet.

Dr. Batmanghelidj's recommendation for water intake is half your body weight in pounds of ounces of water per day. For example, a 200-pound person should consume 100 ounces of water daily. Since a quart is 32 ounces and a gallon is 128 ounces, for most Americans, this amounts to 3, 4, or 5 quarts.

Timing is also crucial. He suggested that having a glass or two of water 30 minutes before a meal can help suppress appetite. In fact, he claimed that we often mistake thirst for hunger, so the water before the meal satisfies our thirst, allowing our body to only send hunger signals during mealtime.

When it comes to fluids versus water, he emphasized that fluids containing caffeine and/or alcohol nullify the water content in them. Therefore, water intake should consist of pure water, not tea, coffee, beer, or wine.

In conclusion, I highly recommend reading this book. Although the recommendations may initially sound outlandish, upon closer examination, they make a great deal of sense.

Well, the premise that we are all dehydrated and don't drink enough water is indeed a valid one.

However, I find it hard to believe that simply drinking 8 - 10 glasses of water a day with a few crystals of sea salt on the tongue will cure all the diseases listed in this book.

I was quite disappointed by the author's lack of detailed information about tap water. It would have been beneficial to have a more in-depth discussion on the quality and potential contaminants in tap water.

Finally, in order to make all his claims legitimate, the book needed more than just testimonials. Scientific research and evidence should have been presented to support his statements.

If you are seeking to read an informative book on water, it is likely that there are better options available elsewhere.

Perhaps a book that combines scientific knowledge with practical advice would be a more suitable choice for those interested in learning about the importance of water for our health.
