An interesting premise that the author presents and then explains is truly captivating.

I read this book several years ago when the author was still alive. Sadly, he has passed away now, but I still vividly recall reading this and being deeply impressed.

While I can't speak to all of the medical conditions that the author postulates may be due to or at least exacerbated by insufficient water in our diet, I can speak to one of them. He states that people with chronic heartburn should drink more water and presents a plan for doing so.

At the time I was reading this, I had experienced heartburn, perhaps not chronically but more frequently than I liked. So, I decided to give it a try and started drinking water following Dr. Batmanghelidj's formula, which is to drink 8 oz of plain, still water 30 minutes before each meal.

The result for me was truly remarkable. The incidents of heartburn were reduced by about 80%. I still get heartburn on occasion, but it's now pretty rare. And when I do, I simply drink more water. No more antacids for me, and I'm truly grateful for this simple yet effective solution.

This book was a wonderful gift from a dear friend.

As I have been constantly battling with various health issues, they thought that this particular book might prove to be beneficial for me.

Upon opening it, I noticed that the wording was extremely similar to that of a medical journal. However, despite this initial resemblance, it turned out to be an interesting and unique read.

It made me view drinking water and the substances I put into my body in a completely different light.

It was truly a valuable learning experience.

This book would be great for those people who might have an interest in learning about alternative ways of treating health issues without relying solely on prescription medications.

It offers a fresh perspective and some useful insights that could potentially have a positive impact on one's health and well-being.

I am grateful to my friend for giving me this book and for the opportunity it has provided for me to expand my knowledge in this area.

The good aspect of this book is that it prompts you to think distinctively about water and the quantity you consume daily. It makes you contemplate the disparity between a well-hydrated joint and a dehydrated one.

However, the not-so-favorable point is that the author doesn't bother to cite any research. Instead, he mainly expounds his view along with testimonials from people with diverse problems who claim to be doing better due to drinking water.

The truly absurd thing about this book is its formatting. It seems as if the author intended to ensure that no one could quickly flip through the book to locate the part they were seeking. In fact, at the beginning, he mentions something about desiring the book to read like a novel about his love for water (which it doesn't). Consequently, he omits elements such as an index and formatting cues that would assist readers in finding information. (Personally, I believe he was aware that his book required more meticulous attention to research, citation of material, footnotes, etc., to be more legitimate. But he simply wanted to get the book published.)

So, is it worth reading? Hm. Probably. Just don't anticipate finding what you're looking for by skimming. And... well, keep your common sense activated as you read.

Aside from the Holy Bible, this remarkable book has the power to bring about profound changes and even save lives. It is a literary gem that everyone should have the opportunity to read. In fact, I firmly believe that my Doctor, too, needs to peruse this book.

We have all heard the age-old advice that we should drink water regularly. However, many people either choose not to or simply won't follow this simple yet crucial instruction. And then there are those who do drink water but don't consume enough of it.

Personally, I have gleaned a wealth of knowledge from this book. It has opened my eyes to the importance of proper hydration and has provided me with valuable insights on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in improving their well-being and leading a more fulfilling life.

I'd always been told that it was of great significance to drink a substantial amount of water. So, I was truly delighted when I came across this book.

Even though I don't fully comprehend some of the aspects he elaborates on in the book, particularly when Dr. Batmanghelidj discusses AIDS. Nevertheless, I am now completely convinced of the worth of consuming more water.

Already, I predominantly drink water, but currently, I am striving to increase my intake even further.

Perhaps it is the most inexpensive means to bring about a significant improvement in one's health, aside from simply going outdoors and taking a stroll.

It seems that water holds the key to a healthier lifestyle, and I am determined to make the most of it.

By drinking more water, I hope to enhance my overall well-being and enjoy a better quality of life.

Who knows, maybe this simple habit could have a profound impact on my health in the long run.

Bad, Horrible......

Yes, I firmly believe that being properly hydrated is of utmost importance and yet is often under-appreciated. However, the extensive volume and over-reliance on anecdotal "evidence" presented in this book is truly reprehensible. As I was reading this book, on numerous occasions I recalled what my mentor imparted to me when I was a young Ph.D. candidate, overly eager to consider the subject of my research as a crucial element in countless other biochemical models. He told me, "When all you have is a hammer, the whole world seems like a nail." Well, perhaps this author would do well to realize that his dehydration hammer cannot solve all health problems. Moreover, to support the claims made in this book, actual research must be conducted to determine if the brilliant thoughts are indeed correct. It is insufficient to simply present ideas or possible mechanisms as facts without any evidence.

That being said, have a drink on me!

I had no idea that I had been living with chronic dehydration for an extremely long time until I came across this book!

Over the weekend, as I was reading it, I made sure to drink water to re-balance my system. And I was truly amazed by the changes that occurred in just a short period of time!

I had never realized just how crucial consistent water intake is. In fact, I don't know very many people who actually manage to meet their daily water requirements!

Now, I am determined that I will never go another day without having ample, or even more than ample water intake. Sadly, the author passed away in 2004, but I am extremely grateful for the valuable information provided in this book. It has truly opened my eyes to the importance of staying hydrated and has made me more conscious of my water consumption habits. I will definitely be sharing this knowledge with others to help them understand the significance of proper hydration.

This book was truly fascinating.

The ideas presented within it were particularly captivating. However, unfortunately, many of his explanations were rather complex and went over my head.

Perhaps I should have paid more diligent attention in all those science classes several years ago.

Nevertheless, one thing is for sure, I will now be drinking more water.

I would really appreciate it if someone who has a deeper understanding of the human body than I do could read this book and then inform me whether all of his explanations are indeed plausible.

Is that okay? Thanks!

Also, it's worth noting that I read the second edition, and the title is slightly different. After the colon, it reads, "You are not sick, you are thirsty."

This additional subtitle seems to add an interesting dimension to the overall theme of the book.

I'm curious to know if others have had a similar experience while reading this particular edition.

Maybe it will spark more discussions and further exploration into the importance of proper hydration for our well-being.

Overall, despite the challenges I faced in understanding some of the explanations, I still found this book to be a thought-provoking read.

Simple message - Drink more water.

He recommends that one should drink half of their body weight in ounces per day and also increase salt intake.

The first time I gave it a try by eating a little sea salt and then drinking a big glass of water, it was a rather strange sensation. It felt as if there were little bubbles in my head, a feeling that is quite difficult to describe accurately.

After this experience, I am convinced that I definitely need to drink more water. It seems that maintaining the right balance of water and salt in the body is crucial for our well-being. By following this simple advice, we can potentially improve our overall health and feel better.

So, let's all make a conscious effort to drink more water and take in an appropriate amount of salt to keep our bodies functioning optimally.

I'd heard for years that I should be drinking more water, but nobody could tell me why this was so. At the same time, I found it extremely difficult to increase my intake of water for apparently no good reason.

Finally, here is a book that explains why we should drink more water. Dr B's explanation, which constitutes the important message of this book, is that many common, serious ailments are caused by simple dehydration.

When Dr B was incarcerated in prison in Iran for political reasons, he made the first of his important discoveries by completely alleviating the severe pain of a fellow inmate suffering from a stomach ulcer by giving him 3 glasses of water, no more no less.

The book contains many testimonials written by persons testifying that Dr B's water intake recommendations had cured or greatly alleviated their arthritis, headaches, MS, high blood pressure, dizziness, overweight, asthma, allergies, high cholesterol, angina, hiatal hernia, back pain, and so on.

The amount of water we must drink is a minimum of 6 to 8 8-ounce glasses of water per day. Alcohol, coffee, tea, and caffeine-containing beverages don't count as water. It's best to drink one glass half an hour before a meal and one glass two and a half hours after each meal. Two more glasses should be taken in connection with our biggest meal or before going to bed.

Personally, I have no idea how much an ounce is, but ten glasses of water is equivalent to about 2 litres, so I try to drink 2 litres a day. I measure this by refilling empty 1/2 litre coconut water cartons and try to drink 4 of these a day. Coconut water is actually the very best liquid one can drink since it contains the necessary electrolytes, or salts - this is information I learnt from another book on coconut water, which I have also reviewed.

Dr B informs us that it is important to add to the diet about half a teaspoon of salt a day for every 2 litres of water one drinks (since one is drinking ordinary and not coconut water). I personally only use sea salt.

The book is extremely scientific, and I don't claim to understand all of the text, but still the author is totally convincing in his arguments about the absolute necessity of our increasing our intake of water. He explains how the drinking of caffeine-containing beverages such as coffee, tea, and cola exacerbates dehydration. He also explains how diet sodas cause weight gain and expatiates on the dangers of the artificial sweetener aspartame.

The book contains an exciting chapter on the doctor's ideas on AIDS, that it is not caused by the HIV virus but by an imbalance in the amino acid composition in the patients' bodies.

The late Dr B fought untiringly to get his message about the absolute necessity of increasing our water intake out to the world, but other doctors and authorities were impervious to his arguments. This was no doubt because water can't be patented, and the medicinal industries that control the doctors risk losing immense sums in drug profits if the general public were to discover that they could drop their drugs intake merely by drinking water.

I strongly recommend that you read this essential book which contains vital, life-saving information!

This book might be the one that allows you to discover from the mouth of an idealist doctor who has dedicated his life to water that the source of your non-chronic problems could be dehydration and enables you to learn at least one of the benefits of water that you didn't know before.

Bazen herhangi bir besinin mucizevi gibi ele alınmasına mesafeliyim ama sadece su üzerine bu kitap birçok önemsiz gördüğümüz ya da bilmediğimiz yararını bize kavratabilir. Sometimes I am skeptical about treating any food as if it were a miracle, but this book can convey to us many of the benefits of water that we may have overlooked or not known before, specifically regarding water.

Örneğin, kronik olmayan baş ağrınızın asıl nedeninin o gün yeterli ya da hiç su içmemek olduğunu düşünür müydünüz yoksa hemen ilaca mı sarılırdınız? For example, would you ever think that the real cause of your non-chronic headache could be not drinking enough water or no water at all that day, or would you immediately reach for medication?

Bu idealist doktoru ve kitabını sevdim. I loved this idealist doctor and his book.

I didn't love the conspiratorial tone of the book.

To me, it seemed that the writing was not very good. It appeared disjointed, and the author jumped around a lot while trying to explain things.

At times, there was so much medical/technical jargon that I simply put the book down or skimmed through those parts and moved on.

Because of these issues, I initially wanted to give it 2 or 3 stars. In fact, I almost didn't give it a chance due to its writing style.

However, it was recommended by a specialist we have been collaborating with, and I wanted to read it rather than simply dismissing his suggestion.

In the end, I'm glad I did read it.

The content of the book was excellent. It didn't require all that conspiracy theory stuff as the research and information could speak for themselves.

If the book had been organized a bit better, I probably would have awarded it 5 stars.

It truly served as a great reminder to drink water and understand why it is so crucial, as well as all the functions of the body that it enhances.

It was also astonishing to learn how many symptoms that we typically treat with medication are actually dehydration symptoms. So, remember to drink your water!
