متفاوت‌ترین کتاب داستانی که تا به حال خوندم! واقعا این حجم از نوآوری در تخیل جای تحسین داره

سه ستاره فقط بخاطر ذوق و ابتکار نویسنده

شوخی‌های کیهانی مجموعه‌ای از داستان‌های کوتاه هستش که در اون نه با آدم‌ها بلکه با "چیز"‌هایی سر و کار داریم که به شکل کمابیش قابل قبولی جان‌بخشی شده. این "چیز"ها از ذرات تشکیل‌دهنده در لحظه مهبانگ که شدیدا کنار هم چپیدن شروع می‌شه و همین‌طور داستان به داستان به زمان‌های جلوتر می‌یاد. مِن جمله غبارهای کیهانی، ذرات تشکیل دهنده زمین، اولین موجودات زنده و ...ا

داستان‌ها به هم ربطی ندارن و هر داستان رو می‌شه مستقل و بدون رعایت ترتیب کتاب خوند. خود داستان‌ها هم سر و ته مشخصی ندارن. لزوما معنای خاصی هم ندارن بلکه صرفا موضوعات علمی هستن که دستمایه شوخی قرار گرفتن. این شوخی‌ها هم در عموما چارچوبهای مشابهی چون عشق دو تا نرم تن و درنتیجه شکل‌گیری اولین پوسته سخت، بازیگوشی دو تا غبار کیهانی و درنتیجه پیشروی فضا‌زمان، ماجرای مهاجرت آبزی‌ها و رفتن به خشکی و خلاصه شوخی‌هایی از این دست هستش.

کتاب معنای بخصوصی نداره و تمام ارزش این کتاب در لذتی هستش که خواننده ممکنه از این شوخی‌ها ببره. من بشخصه لذت چندانی از این شوخی‌ها نبردم ولی خوب این یک نظر شخصی هستش و شاید اگر منم این کتاب رو تو شرایطی خونده بودم که مغزم به لحاظ فکری اینقدر خسته نبود و اینقدر کم‌خوابی نمی‌داشتم شاید بیشتر از این کتاب خوشم میومد. با این همه، ذوق و ابتکار نویسنده واقعا قابل ستایش بود

«Così incominciai a fare la prima cosa che mi venne, ed era una conchiglia. [...] Non mi veniva mica di farla perché mi serviva, ma al contrario come a uno gli viene di fare un’esclamazione che potrebbe benissimo anche non fare eppure la fa, come uno che dice “bah!” oppure “mah!”, così io facevo la conchiglia, cioè solo per esprimermi».

Una delle cose che amo di più, delle storie, è il fatto che si mettano a raccontare di un mollusco, un insignificante mollusco, o di un segno nello spazio imprecisato che non sappiamo neanche come sia possibile farlo, o di un pesce o di un dinosauro o dei colori, e poi arrivi alla fine e scopri che in realtà, gira e rigira, parlano di te.

Le Cosmicomiche, per mia grande gioia, sono in pratica questo, schizzi, istantanee, ritratti di umana umanità tracciati con pennellate attente e allo stesso tempo estremamente naturali. Dalla loro dimensione fantastica, ci parlano di ciò che eravamo e di ciò che siamo diventati, differenza che viene a volte enfatizzata e altre volte, al contrario, resa ancora più labile, il tutto attraverso un significativo gioco di anacronismi che Calvino inserisce in alcuni punti strategici, come accade, ad esempio, alla fine de I Dinosauri, quando vediamo Qwfwq lasciare il villaggio dei Nuovi e prendere un treno, in quella che avevamo pensato essere la fase iniziale della storia dell'uomo.

Oltre questo fattore comune, però, ognuna delle Cosmicomiche ha un suo segno di riconoscimento, un suo marchio. Gli anni-luce, e un po' anche La forma dello spazio, parlano dell'incomunicabilità, della mancanza di dialogo, ma soprattutto delle inevitabili incomprensioni che sempre di creano tra le persone, che sono come un abisso siderale a prova di velocità della luce, o come «linee rette continue parallele che non significano altro che se stesse nel loro continuo scorrere senza incontrarsi mai così come non ci incontriamo mai nella nostra continua caduta io, Ursula H'x, il Tenente Fenimore, tutti gli altri» (da La forma dello spazio). C'è poi, in Senza colori, la paura del cambiamento, la ritrosia di fronte alla trasformazione, e c'è l'esatto contrario in Lo zio acquatico, racconto lacerato tra tradizionalismo e progressismo, e in cui poi a spuntarla è invece la voglia di riscoperta dell'antico passato, una voglia che forse ha anche i tratti della nostalgia. Su questo tenore si potrebbe continuare ad libitum.

Il filo di Arianna, la legge di continuità in tutte queste storie è, come spesso accade, l'amore. L'amore devoto, l'amore spensierato e l'amore perduto, l'amore impossibile, l'amore non concesso né reclamato, l'amore silenzioso e persino l'amore primigenio che diventa la scintilla del Big Bang nel meraviglioso Tutto in un punto:

«Lei signora Ph(i)Nko, quella che in mezzo al chiuso nostro mondo meschino era stata capace d’uno slancio generoso, il primo, «Ragazzi, che tagliatelle vi farei mangiare!», un vero slancio d’amore generale, dando inizio nello stesso momento al concetto di spazio, e allo spazio propriamente detto, e al tempo, e alla gravitazione universale, e all'universo gravitante, rendendo possibili miliardi di miliardi di soli, e di pianeti, e di campi di grano, e di signore Ph(i)Nko, sparse per i continenti dei pianeti che impastano con le braccia unte e generose infarinate».

Arriviamo così all'ultimo pezzo del puzzle, la perla che completa la nostra collana. Si tratta de La spirale, significativamente posta a chiusura della raccolta. Effettivamente, trovo che questo racconto sia quasi un compendio di tutte le storie precedenti; direi che in esse Calvino apriva delle porte per poi chiuderle ne La spirale. Immagino che sia uno di quei testi da interpretare liberamente, uno di quelli in cui, mentre io ci vedo A, tizio può vederci tranquillamente Z, anche senza che qualcuno dei due sia in errore. A me, personalmente, ha parlato della scoperta di se stessi, di autoaffermazione, della meraviglia da scovare nel mondo e dell'interconnessione tra tutte le cose. Mi ha parlato di una poesia che tutti dovrebbero leggere almeno una volta. Ma non nella vita. Al giorno.
Così, almeno per ricordarsi di essere vivi.

«E questa conchiglia era una cosa diversa da me ma anche la parte più vera di me, la spiegazione di chi ero io, il mio ritratto tradotto in un sistema ritmico di volumi e strisce e colori e roba dura».

این نویسنده در نگاه به هر چیزی (از مفاهیم انتزاعی ریاضی و فیزیک تا پدیده های زیستی مثل انقراض و تکامل) میتونه یه داستان تخیلی عجیب و غریب طنز و با احساسات انسانی سر هم کنه! با نگرش فلسفه ورزانه و به فکر فرو برنده
ترجمه یا ویرایش یه جاهایی واقعا سخت کرده بود فهمیدن متن رو. البته ممکنه هم متن اصلی، این همه بازی با لغات و مزخرف بافی داشته :)

Sırf 'Ay'ın Uzaklığı' öyküsü için bile okunmalı. Ya da açın bir kitapçıda ayaküstü okuyun ilk öyküyü zaten devamını okumak isteyeceksiniz. Kitap aylardır elimde, bir yandan bitmesini istemedim bir yandan da Calvino'nun tüm şiirsel, masalsı diline sığdırdığı evreni daha iyi anlayabilmek için tekrar tekrar okudum bazı paragrafları.

Mi ha sembrato troppa fantascienza, al mio parere... Quindi Calvino piace nel "senso" del suo racconto, ma no nel modo in qui lui riesce a raccontarlo, a scriverlo

This book played a huge part in my falling in love with literature! It’s both the smile that escapes you and the inevitable knitted brows you get when a reading shakes you. The book comprises 12 stories where the unpronounceable-and-ever-existing Qfwfq journeys across time and space, through everything and nothing. It’s playful, and it'll feel like children proposing outlandish ultra-creative accounts of how the universe evolved, except that it's written with superior skill. The stories become so much more than what they seem to be because of Calvino's highly symbolic style.

Yes, he toys with scientific facts (as they were understood at the time), which don't always hold in the way he uses them to tell the stories. The lack of coherence when adapting his stories from science has been something I've read people criticize Calvino for before (much to my surprise). But having studied natural sciences myself, I found this to be what makes his storytelling so fascinating. The way he stems from scientific excerpts but malleates and distorts them to tell bizarre tales about the universe is brilliant. Not in spite of the flexibility with which he uses the scientific data but because of it.

I have a few favorites: Ch. 2 At Daybreak, Ch. 3 A Sign In Space, Ch. 5 Without Colors, and Ch. 9 The Dinosaurs (a masterpiece). There’s magic in literature based on the different ways people react to them, the pleasure we feel, and the understanding we obtain as we question, create meaning, and interpret the world around us. For instance, in At Daybreak, he discusses recognizable family dynamics while using an unrecognizable approach and a funky set of characters (Qfwfq, Granny Bb’b, Mr. Hnw, Rwzfs, G’d(w)^n)—no, I did not just drop my head against the keyboard, starting to get what I mean?

In The Dinosaurs, he explores identity and the dissonance between who we are and what others see, what we think they see. How we can often feel like we aren’t being seen as we truly are (or think we are).
“If one of them had looked from the skeleton to me, as I stood there staring at it, he would have realized at once that we were identical." (this scene is just wow)

I hope when you find this whimsical trippy book, you enjoy it just as much as I did and appreciate Calvino's witted humor and imaginative writing.

Okuduğum kitap Can Yayınları 1999, (3.baskı), içinde 12 öykü var. Sanırım YKY çıkan baskısı daha geniş. Her öykünün girişinde bilimsel bir gerçeklik anlatılıyor.

“Kozmokomik Öyküler” hangi türe ait kabul edilmekte bilmiyorum ama bence “komik bilim kurgu” diye yeni bir türe ait olsun. Bilim ile fantasya mizah ile harmanlanmış öykülerde. Kitabin kahramani olan “qfwfq” dünya ve uzay hakkında herşeyi bilir, galaksiler, dinozorlar, jeolojik dönemler, yıldız sistemleri ve diğer herşey ondan sorulur sanki.

Calvino bilimsel olarak kabul gören evrenin oluş teorisine hikayelerle katkı sunuyor sanki. “Varoluş” diye bas bas bağıran yeryüzündeki insanın evrende, kosmosda nasıl da küçük nasıl da komik olduğunu müthiş mizahi kalemiyle anlatıyor. Kendisi “Ayın Uzaklığı” öyküsünü en “gerçeküstücü” bulduğunu, diğer öykülerinde bilimsel çıkış noktasıyla daha örtüşen bir fikrin yön verdiğini olay örgüsüne ama bu fikre her zaman bir düş, bir duygu kılıfı geçirilmiş olduğunu söylemektedir (Amerika Dersleri s.101, YKY)

Kitabı okurken hep S. Hawking ile I. Calvino “evren” hakkında nehir söyleşi yapsalardı acaba ne olurdu diye düşündüm. Biri bilimsel diğeri mizahi potansiyel olarak “genius” iki kişi.

Çok özel bir yazar Calvino, geç keşfettim ama sağlam keşfettim.

This one pretty much floored me. The scope and the way this was written kinda blew my mind.

What do I mean? Well, it's one hell of an accomplished SF... encompassing all time and space from a single viewpoint in what may as well be god... but isn't.

It's a love story with a very complicated relationship of an alien with another alien, it's a love story with time, physics, genetics, and all sorts of real math. I will admit that a very great deal of my enjoyment of this novel stems from the fact that I'm conversant with real science in a big way and this book incorporates it all very heavily in the narrative.

The book is kinda like this: think of five or six hella great popular science writers, turn them into short-story writers, let it have the feel of Marvel or DC cosmic-stage stories, and then have it feel right at home with Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

I'm not joking. It's really that good and that odd. And while the science bits and how it's written is very heavy in a way, I don't think it overwhelms the actual stories at all. It's unusual and it's very smart, but I wouldn't let that deter you from reading it. Indeed, I think everyone should read this and have it be a solid staple of the mind.

My only complaint might be a bit idiotic. I really think these stories would translate perfectly into a real comic. I know it's kinda implied in the title, but still... I think it would be improved, making it even more readable and brilliant... that is, assuming that the artist is up to snuff. :)

My second try at reading Calvino and I definitely liked this one more than Invisible Cities.

Cosmicomics has an interesting structure where each story is prefaced with a scientific hypothesis. The story is then set within that hypothesis where our narrator, Qfwfq, relates the story from the time he experienced each particular event in time. I enjoyed the humor, and also just the wackiness of imagining Qfwfq and his friends and family living before the universe had expanded (it was quite crowded!), when the sun had just begun emitting radiation (it's really hard to keep track of all your children when it's so dark), and when the first vertebrates left the sea to brave land (and the embarrassing great uncle who refuses to evolve).

My favorite stories were The Distance of the Moon, All at One Point, The Aquatic Uncle, How Much Shall We Bet?, and The Spiral.

I read the original 12 Cosmicomics stories, but I actually have the entire collection which is the edition my library had. However much I enjoyed these humorous and though-provoking stories, though, reading the original 12 was enough for my tastes in one sitting. However, this collection would be fun to have around and be able to sample a story from time to time.

اول هر‌قصه یه فکت علمی‌نوشته شده و در ادامه داستان به روایت یه "چیز" به اسم qfwfq.
برای لذت بردن ازین‌کتاب، باید خیلی ذهن سیالی داشته باشین و از خیال پردازی لذت ببرین.
قصه ها معنی و خاصی به خودی خود ندارن. همونطور که تو اسمشه،شوخی هایی درباره کیهانه.

برا منی که زیاد اهل اینجور ژانر ها(شوخی و انقدر خیالپردازی) نیستم، بجز قسمت هایی که یکم از این چارچوبِ صرفا شوخی فراتر میرفت یا میشد بیشتر استنباط کرد، کمی حوصله سر بر میشد و از سر استیصال از یکی دوجا پرش کردم.

در کل تجربه جالب و جدیدی بود برا شخص من.
یکی دوقسمت از کتاب بنظرم قشنگ‌بود حوصله داشتم بعدا مینویسمشون:))))
