Me encantó este libro. Al principio lo agarré con desconfianza, describiéndose como un libro de recetas sensuales y siendo que yo no cocino ni hielo, pero pronto me atrapó con la descriptividad tan coqueta de Allende y su forma de hacer entretenida cualquier cosa que esté contando. Habla de la comida y del sexo desde las anécdotas personales y de amistades, conocidos, así como también personajes históricos y hábitos curiosos de épocas remotas. Esto me resultó fascinante, aprendí mucho de historia , y es aquí donde Allende hace gala de su característica más personal que es divagar hasta el punto del cansancio. Me dejó con las ganas de pasar una tarde con Isabel y hablar de todo lo que sabe hasta que se ponga el sol (algunos de los platos que describe en el libro de por medio)

This was a strange book. Fascinating at times, dull at others, and occasionally plain puzzling (as in, where IS she going with this?). The best way to sum it up is a medley of anecdotes, myths, and personal experiences all regarding food and its role in love, romance, and decidedly kinkier ventures. Aphrodisiacs, if you will. I did love Allende's sauciness and odd split personality--very accepting of people's oddities on one hand, and slyly judgmental on the other hand.

By the time I got through the stories and the exhaustive lists of all foods ever possibly considered to be aphrodisiacs (whether by virtue of chemical powers or crude visual insinuations), I must admit that I was too worn out to bother looking through the allegedly rigorously tested recipes at the end of the book, written by Allende's mother. I think the book served more to convince me that the mythical power of aphrodisiacs is a bunch of bunk, rather than a tantalizing possibility.

What an awesome woman is Isabel Allende: witty, sensual and she takes live not too seriously and is not affraid to admit it. This book reads as a warm bath and gives a lot of good ideas if I ever want to seduce someone again.

يبدو هذا الكتاب رفيقاً استثنائياً للمرأة.. باقةٌ عظيمة من أسرار النساء الأفروديتيات.. مكمّلٌ حميمٌ لهنّ في تقاسيم الليل والنهار، ملهمٌ روحاني وجسدي.. مادي ومعنوي، في كل مكان يمكن أن تتواجد فيه المرأة..
جُل ما دارت أفلاكه حوله؛ أن "الحياة امرأة" كما قال نيتشه..

A book about sensuality really shouldn't be this dull, but it is (sorry Isabel). Ostensibly, the book is about romance, atmosphere and food as preludes to love-making but human beings know this stuff, unless stymied by an unusual sensory deprivation, and this book adds little to the canon. I get the impression Allende realised her material for the book was a bit thin and has used her considerable skill as a writer to pad it out but it hasn't been enough to rescue the book. And the recipes aren't even that great.

An exquisite book! Interesting and so different from everything else I have read so far. The narration was superb. Although this book isn't for everyone, it is definitely for those who have a different pallate.

الجميلة إيزابيل الليندى وكتاب عن الأفروديات .. الحب .. والطعام

تصورت أن الكتاب يحوى حكايات أيروسية فقط ولكنه كان رحلة ممتعة .. انقسم الكتاب إلى قسمين ، فى الجزء الأول ألهفت الليندى خيال ووجدان القارىء بقصص شائقة عبر التاريخ وحتى من خلال حكاياتها الشخصية . فى الجزء الثانى مزجت ذلك كله بوصفات أمها الخبيرة بالطهو ولم تترك فرعاً إلا وقدمت فيه العديد من الوصفات الأفروديتية ..

أخيراً:

من أفروديت؟ هي ٱلهة الحب والجمال والنشوة الجنسية في الأساطير اليونانية.

جاء هذا الكتاب معنونا باسمها، مبشرًا بأنك لا شك ستتلذذ وتلقى ضالتك الأفروديتية - الجنسية -، مُحذّرًا مع ذلك بأن ليس هناك أفروديتية أقوى من الحبّ.

قسم الكتاب إلى جزئين:
الأول، عبارة عن حكايا وأساطير، عانت الكاتبة في جلبهم وستشرح لك أثناء القراءة رحلتها مع هذا الكتاب، لكن ليس هذا موضوعنا.

أما الثاني، فهو عبارة عن وصفات كثيرة - منشطة جنسيا- ومجرّبة مضمونة.

لم أعتبر أي قصة في الكتاب عبارة عن قصة رومانسية أو حتى أثارت خيالي الجنسي اللطيف وداعبته، أما بالنسبة لنوع القصص فكانت جد عادية ويمكنني ايجادها في ويكيبيديا.
كما لم تحتوي أي من القصص على المراجع أو الترويسات التوضيحية، وهذا ما جعلني أستخف بمحتوى الكتاب، إذ تقدم الكاتبة القصص وهي ليست حتى متأكدة من أي شيء منها، هي تقدمهم فقط، باعتبارها قصص أو معلومات عن الطعام وغيره وردت في الكتب التي قرأتها!!
قصص ساذجة جدا ولا تليق بكتاب عُنون باسم ٱلهة الجنس نفسها، ولم استفد فعليا بأي معلومة وردت في الكتاب عن الجنس، حتى أنها لم تثقفني في النهاية بمعلومات جديدة وسحرية.

أما بالنسبة للقسم الثاني، فلم ٱخذ منه سوى بضع وصفات، والباقي فلم أستطع الأخذ بهم، نظرا لعدم وجود المكونات في بلدي.

في النهاية هو كتاب لكاتبة "هاوية" للجنس، ليست شخص متخصص في المجال، ولا أعتبر هذا الكتاب مرجع للذين يبحثون عن كتب جنسية أي كان تصنيفها.
