I read this book just because of the title and I enjoyed House of Spirits. It's quite a different kind of book, but I just kept with it. Probably most enjoyable by foodies and I haven't attempted any recipes, which might be most of the book in the end. Surprise to me!

A good read; some amusing stories and she is often quite funny. It was nice to ‘get to know her’ a little. I learned some stuff about sex and aphrodisiacs that I didn’t know! Interesting! I would never make any of the recipes though; too much dead stuff lol.

I love Isabel Allende's writing, and as another review said, I would be happy reading her shopping list. It's rambling and meandering, pretty aimless and weird. However, it has wholesome laugh out loud funny moment throughout.
