Em 1996, quando Luis Sepúlveda recebeu o primeiro exemplar de “História de uma gaivota e do gato que a ensinou a voar”, Zorbas, o seu protagonista, estava gravemente doente e o escritor teve de dar a triste notícia aos seus três filhos, para quem escrevera este enternecedor conto.

“Como explicar-lhes que tínhamos o dever de preservar a dignidade e a inteireza daquele explorador dos telhados, aventureiro de jardins, terror dos gatos, trepador de castanheiros, brigão de pátios à luz da lua, habitante definitivo das nossas conversas e dos nossos sonhos? Em “História de uma gaivota e do gato que a ensinou a voar”, porém, Zorbas é um gato cheio de genica e nobreza que prometeu a uma gaivota moribunda devido a uma maré negra que chocaria o seu ovo e cuidaria da sua cria. Numa fábula em que todos os animais se entendem, se aliam e declaram tréguas apesar das inimizades, um grupo de gatos sabidos “tiram os miados” das bocas uns dos outros em peripécias divertidas que cumprem o seu propósito lúdico e pedagógico.

Cho 5 sao thì cũng hơi quá tay :) nhưng mình đọc quyển này cùng lúc với Suối nguồn và Lược sử loài người nên chuyện một con hải âu non vàng ươm được bao bọc bởi một "gia đình" mèo bên bến cảng lại như một cơn gió mồ côi mát mẻ dịu dàng nhẹ nhõm. Tuy cách viết của Luis hơi đơn giản (có thể do bản dịch) nhưng dù sao thông điệp rất rõ ràng. Truyện không đề cập nhiều lắm đến việc dạy bay mà chủ yếu là nuôi dưỡng sự quyết tâm giữ lời hứa. Lời hứa giữa những loài khác biệt nhau hoàn toàn hẳn nhiên cần rất nhiều nỗ lực, rất nhiều tình yêu, sự cảm thông và đặc biệt là sự hy sinh. Mèo còn làm được cơ mà!!!

She has him promise not to eat her egg, to look after the egg until the chick is born, and to teach it to fly. A promise is a promise and as a cat of the honorable Hamburg port community, Zorba will see that are fulfilled and her faith in him is not misplaced. A delightful and charming story of a cat and his motley crew of felines who show that love and empathy are not limited to their species. Sometimes going outside of one’s boundaries opens you to a whole new world and with determination and support you can accomplish the impossible. The ending was heart warming.

This is the first children’s story by the Chilean author and journalist, who was imprisoned, tortured, and then exiled by Augusto Pinochet’s regime. He was a strong advocate of Greenpeace and the environment and the book touches on human’s pollution of the oceans. While researching him, I discovered that he died of COVID-19 on April 16, 2020 in Spain. How sad and unfortunate to lose such a fighter, activist, and writer.

Sarà una storia per bambini ,ma ha molto da insegnare e la post fazione mi ha commossa. Questo libro è dedicato ai figli dell'autore ed al loro gatto che ha una malattia terminale. Un ultimo omaggio al loro compagno.
Non è solo il racconto del gatto Zorba che insegnò a volare alla gabbianells
a Fortunata, figlia di quella gabbiana Kengah, morta ,depositando il suo ultimo uovo , a causa di una caduta in mare su del petrolio riversato in mare illegalmente. Credo che questa storia voglia insegnarci molte cose più che attuali. .. Amore per l'ambiente e g li animali, rispetto per il diverso, spirito di sacrificio, sforzarsi per mantenere la parola data, vincere le proprie p a ure e non arrendersi m a i. Molti insegnamenti in un libro per piccoli che fa bene anche ai grandi.

Thỉnh thoảng vẫn hay biên ra đâu đó danh sách kiểu như “top 10 những cuốn hay nhất, tâm đắc nhất đã từng đọc”. Cứ thế qua thời gian cuốn này được loại ra, cuốn kia được thêm vào. Nhưng thiết nghĩ đây là câu chuyện mà có lẽ 1 năm, 2 năm, 5 năm hay lâu hơn thế nữa, nó sẽ chẳng thể bị loại ra.
Bình sinh là kiểu người không có nhiều tình yêu thương động vật, đặc biệt con mèo thì khá ghét (cái giống loài thảo mai, lười nhác, uốn éo, kênh kiệu). Vậy mà bỗng lại khá thích con mèo mun béo Zorba, có thể mèo trong truyện lại là 1 phạm trù triết học khác.
Hồi còn trẻ có ước mơ là đi buôn lậu kiếm được nhiều tiền để mở 1 hiệu sách, 1 quán cà phê sách hay cái gì đấy đại loại giống như thế. Tên cửa hiệu sẽ là “…thư quán” trong đó dấu ba chấm sẽ là tên một nhân vật yêu thích nào đó, trong một câu chuyện yêu thích nào đó.

Con là chim hải âu, và con phải sống cuộc đời của một con hải âu. Con phải bay. Khi con đã học hành tử tế, Lucky, ta hứa với con rằng con sẽ thấy hạnh phúc lắm, và sau đó tình cảm của chúng ta dành cho nhau thậm chí còn sâu sắc và đẹp đẽ hơn, bởi đó là tấm chân tình giữ hai loài vật hoàn toàn khác nhau.”

this is a wonderful novel for children and for every one, has many wonderful meanings.....
the cat(ZORBA) who has a principle in his life that he should keep his promise..
the other cats who support their friend in fulfilling his mission...
and the most beautiful value ,is that u can accept the other who is different from u and love him and take him as your family....
the one chosen to solve the problem was a sensitive person who love reading poetry,the solution for the problem was in one of the poems, he has read ....
so funny ,has a lot of comedy scenes, would be perfect as a movie animation..

Zorba, a fat black cat, will be alone this summer while his boy’s family go on holiday – convenient given the adventure that’s about to befall him. Kengah, an exhausted and oil-drenched seagull, lands on his balcony and lays a final, precious egg. She makes Zorba promise he will not eat the egg but will look after her baby and teach it to fly. He enlists his motley group of friends, fellow cats at the port of Hamburg, to help him figure out how to raise a chick. Sepúlveda, a Chilean author, was jailed under the Pinochet regime and was later on the crew of a Greenpeace ship. The environmental message in this novella is noticeable but not overpowering. The translation gives each cat a distinctive voice, and the line drawings are a nice bonus of this new edition. Geared towards confident nine- to eleven-year-old readers, this might also be read aloud with younger children.
