Hilarious! I now have a new "come back" when my husband has something smart to say...."I'm going to cut off your ears and stuff them in your pockets so you can hear me kicking your butt".

Fun read...really fun read.

I don't know what it is about Texas. I just don't generally like books set in Texas. Maybe I don't get the mentality. And therein lies my problem with this book. Debbie Sue Overstreet owns a beauty salon in a one horse town in West Texas. Her ex-husband Buddy is the town sheriff. Life has been limping along just fine until the richest (and loosest married) woman in town turns up murdered. The rest of the book is filled with the couple and their new love interests trying to find out where they fit in each other's lives and finding a murderer. Some funny moments, but none of them true laugh out loud moments.

I'm sure this would be a great story, but I personally couldn't get past the language. Apparently I will miss some steamy bedroom scenes. I'm okay with that. I prefer a good story without gratuitous language and sex.

I really wanted this to be funnier. Witty titles should have follow through in the text, and - while this book had some cute moments - it just wasn't laugh out loud funny. Disappointing, but only because I was looking for hysterical and didn't find it. Texans with attitudes, strong female characters & relationships, murder and misunderstandings, and one guy who was TSTL that hung around a little bit too long in my opinion. Not horrible, but not compelling enough to make me track down the rest of the series, unfortunately.

Love Dixie Cash's books. Light murder mysteries, good fun.

Debbie Sue and Edwina are two best friend that run a beauty shop out in Saltlick, Texas. Sheriff Buddy Overstreet is Debbie Sue's ex-husband whom she's still very much in love with. So when Debbie Sue's best customer, or should I say richest, is found murdered, she and Edwina set out to find the culprit. This putting Buddy right back in the middle of her life.

I really truly enjoyed all of the characters in this book. Every one of them seemed to have their own unique personalities that made it seem to come to life. There was a lot of dry wit that keeps you laughing and very strange Southern sayings. I thought with my being from Texas, I would have heard a lot more of them.

I listened to the audio book version and the narrator took some getting used to, with her doing an over the top Texas accent. But once I did, I loved it. I had never read Dixie Cash before this book, and what drew me to it was the comments that if you enjoyed Mary Kay Andrews you would love Dixie Cash. And I did. I will definitely be continuing the Domestic Equalizers series.

It was cute, but I got tired REALLY quickly of Buddy and Debbi Sue fawning over each other every time they walked away. How he didn't think she loved him anymore and she didn't think he loved her anymore...once or twice was one thing but EVERY time they interact. GAG! Oh well, at least it was a nice light fluffy read.

The Characterization of the characters in the story "Since you're leaving anyway, Take out the Trash" , Debbie Sue waas considered a Failure. "She was twenty-eight years old and had been a failure at everything she tried. Marrying, Mothering, Rodeoing, and now, Beauty shopping."
James Russell is Beautiful. "James Russell Overstreet, Jr., the most beautiful man in Texas."
C.J. is always late. " Did y'all here, did y'all hear? We're ahead of you C.J. We already know about Pearl Ann."
Pearl Ann is obnoxious and a showoff. " Pearl Ann was obnoxious at times. well, to be honest, she was obnoxious damn near all the time." " she never missed a chance to let everybody know her clothes came from Neiman-Marcus or that her husband bought her a new Cadillac every year."
Edwina Perkins is Loyal. " Edwina had been a hairdresser in salt lick for over twenty years." " Edwina, Debbie Sue's only employee and one of her two best friends in the whole wide world."

This is a perfect blend of intriguing murder mystery and hilarious yarn, full of West Texas personalities and colloquialisms.
Pearl Ann turns up dead, and a couple of hairdressers make it their mission to find their friend’s killer. Debbie Sue and her BFF Edwina set out to make use of all the great gossip they hear at Debbie Sue’s hair salon. Throw in Debbie Sue’s hunky ex-husband, Buddy Overstreet, who just happens to be the Sheriff, and her wildly rich yet unlucky suitor, Quint, and you have some gut-busting revenge-date ideas. They had me at super glue. I grew up in these towns, with these people, and aside from the slightly over-done double names, the writing is genuine and funny. LOVE Dixie Cash, and will certainly read more of her work.
