The overarching message was clear: lead to help others succeed. The book was succinct. I listened to jt in one day. I think the written book would have been more effective. That way I could have taken it in smaller nuggets and processed it better.

I learn a lot from Maxwell's books but this one wasn't a favorite. It had a lot of stuff repeated from other books, and it was written from a more worldly perspective rather than that of someone leading with the understanding that they are Christ's servant, under His authority and power.

I have actually read this book a couple of time before because it is a great leadership book to read every now and then. Kind of a get back to basics thing. This is one of the three books I recommend for new leaders to read. The other 2 are Lean In by Cheryl Sandberg and It Worked for Me by Colon Powell. The second book actually has a longer title.

It's short and sweet. Perhaps the ideas on it are pretty much what you would expect, common sense business speak. I found it to be a good starting point for my personal development, but I have issues with the religious conservative ideology that makes up the framework of the thinking of Mister Maxwell.
All in all, not a bad read with lots of pointers that help organise your personal journey in leadership and team management.

This is basically a cliffs notes version of Ideas from Maxwell’s leadership books. If you’ve already read a lot by him, this could be a good refresher since it’s really short and succinct. If you haven’t read much of his stuff, this is a great overview. Could even be really useful as a sort of outline for teaching key concepts of leadership that you could then expand on. Overall, a handy resource if you’re looking for a short concise Maxwell book.

I found many of the concepts and ideas in this book to be useful and interesting. I wasn’t a huge fan of many of the examples used and had trouble looking past that at first. The time management portion of the book was the most insightful for me and I could see myself coming back to this book as my career progresses

101 says it all. Don't expect more. That said, it will be a marvelous first book for an upcoming young leader series.

So I bought this at the library book sale, and it was $1.00 well spent. John Maxwell is not only a good writer but has a proven track record as a leader.

I was only in Grade 11 and i was appointed in the youth leadership at Church, which made me the youngest among the leaders and i was afraid and not sure but this Book really helped me with all the queries i had on Leadership.
With its knowledge and insight i later became JETS Club President and Head Boy the following year.

It definitely is a must read for anyone with the responsibility to lead.

Helpful for understanding the world as it has been, not the world as it should be.
