Mello and Near just can't compare to L.

When they are pitched as "Light is still fighting L", it doesn't truly enhance the story.

Misa has almost completely lost all her significance, and the same goes for Ryuk.

Even Light's plans seem less meticulous without his worthy adversary.

I don't wish to sound like a repetitive broken record, but I really miss L.

L was the heart and soul of the series, his presence adding depth and excitement.

His unique deductive skills and mysterious persona made him an unforgettable character.

Without him, the dynamic between the characters has changed, and the story has lost some of its charm.

Mello and Near may have their own qualities, but they simply don't have the same impact as L.

I long for the days when L and Light were engaged in their intense battle of wits.

It was truly a sight to behold.

Seriously, you should not read the blurbs for this manga series before you start.

Have these guys not heard about spoilers? It can really ruin the whole experience.

Well, we now inhabit a new and unexpected world. Misa continues to be extremely irritating as she speaks about herself in the 3rd person.

Moreover, this manga seems determined to kill off interesting female characters, leaving us only with Misa and Mello. Mello presents as female, but is really a dude? Sigh.

More players have been added to the game, and it's like chess with multiple boards in play now. I do like the fact that, like Light, Mello is always eating.

Okay, I'm all settled in for the ride, because at the moment, it's really unclear who I'm rooting for.

Will it be Light, with his complex and often devious plans? Or maybe Mello, who brings a different kind of energy to the story? Only time will tell.

But for now, I'm just going to enjoy the ride and see where this crazy manga takes me.

I've been completely engrossed in this manga all week, I'm not kidding you. Why would I bother reading anything else when these plot twists are so exciting that they're truly giving me life.

I absolutely hate that L is gone. He was my favorite character throughout this entire series. But deep down, I have this feeling that he isn't really dead. After all, when you're a sly genius like him, it's quite easy to stage a death. Now that he's gone, Light is becoming more and more arrogant as time passes. At this point, I just wish he would die. Him and Misa are the most annoying fictional characters in the world. And then there's Mello, the uber androgynous Mello. What can I even say about him? Is he deranged? Creepy? For now, he seems pretty much irrelevant. All I really want is for L to come back.

*sobs over L's death*

I tell you, family can be both a blessing and a curse. Baron, who is usually a calm and collected guy, just had to ruin my good time once again. I was engrossed in playing Sad Satan for the fifth time when he walked in to see what I was up to. In an attempt to have a bit of bonding time within my busy work schedule, I decided to let him have a go at it. Well, let's just say the kid didn't take a liking to what he saw. I thought it was quite mild as I'm not a wimp, but he went running and screaming to the entire house about what daddy was playing. What a traitor! Melania then said she's going to call my psychiatrist. Ugh, not this shit again.

I'm telling you, it's going to be a very long time before I even consider talking to that little twerp again. He really knows how to cause a scene and make my life more difficult. I just hope he grows up and realizes that not everything is as scary as he makes it out to be. But for now, I'm just going to have to deal with the consequences of his actions and try to figure out how to get out of this mess he's created.

I am loving where the plot is headed in this book.

However, up until now, this particular installment was my least favorite.

I do love the new characters that have been introduced, but unfortunately, the story at the moment seems rather disjointed and all over the place.

Hopefully, things will become clearer in the next book.

Upon rereading, I truly appreciate how the chase has resumed after volume 7.

Nonetheless, I still miss character L a great deal.

His presence added a unique charm and depth to the story, and his absence is definitely felt.

Despite the current flaws in the plot, I remain hopeful that the author will be able to tie everything together neatly in the upcoming volumes and make this series even more engaging and enjoyable.

I look forward to seeing how the story progresses and whether my expectations will be met.

The other parts have somehow appealed to me more. Maybe it's because they possess unique characteristics that caught my attention. Each of these parts seems to have its own charm and allure. They might offer something different, something that stands out from the rest. It could be the way they look, the way they function, or perhaps the emotions they evoke within me. Whatever the reason, I find myself drawn to these other parts. They have a certain quality that makes them more interesting and engaging. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's just something about them that makes me like them better.

This part initially focuses on the kidnapping of the Director of the Intelligence Bureau and then the sister of Kira, Syu, by an orphan named Mello, who was living with the now deceased L according to Light's plan through Sem Chinigamy.

Mello makes a demand for the Death Note in exchange for Syu's life.

Another L, Near (N), is also on the scene. He is another orphan who is currently collaborating with Light to search for Kira.

The situation becomes increasingly complex as these events unfold. The actions of Mello and the presence of Near add new dimensions to the already intense hunt for Kira.

Light, who is trying to maintain his guise as an ordinary person while secretly being Kira, must now navigate this new set of challenges.

Will he be able to meet Mello's demands and still keep his true identity hidden? And what role will Near play in this dangerous game of cat and mouse? Only time will tell as the story continues to develop.

I read the last few chapters as a reminder since I already own the 9th volume.

The only thing that truly stands out is that Light Yagami has transformed into a pansy. That's right, I'm not mincing words here! Ever since the incident with L in the previous volume and the passage of years, Light has become soft, and I despise it with a passion.

In this volume, Light now shows concerns for the well-being of his family and actually doesn't want to put them at risk. Seriously?! Wasn't it in the first or second volume that Light was more than willing to sacrifice his family? Damn it, Light. Just go back to being the sociopath you once were!

And then I find myself confused as to who Light is supposed to be. There's so much he says that it constantly throws me off track. I'm only continuing to read this for two reasons. Firstly, my sister claims that the anime ending was rather thought-provoking. Secondly, I'm really eager to know what happens to someone who uses the Death Note and can neither go to heaven nor hell. Hmm.

I'm not entirely certain about these two, but if I had to choose, I would go with Mello. The reason? Well, it's mainly because of his Anna Wintour hairdo. It's just so iconic and unique. Every time I see it, it makes me smile. Lol.

Hopefully, this won't turn out to be a rehash of the first half. I'm really looking forward to seeing what else unfolds. Maybe there will be some unexpected twists and turns. That would definitely keep things interesting.

As for now, I'll just keep my eyes peeled and see how it all plays out. I have a feeling it's going to be a wild ride.

So Rem is a female and Mellow is a male..?! There's some serious mismanagement with this manga :p

Anyway, Light is going universal, our ruthless Light. That Mellow is really annoying >.< I MISS L SO MUCH!! T.T T.T T.T I had hoped that Near would be anything like him, but so far, he isn't a main character yet. He shares many things with L, but he lacks L's creepy stare, which I really miss now :/ (To be honest, he has some creepy stares too, but L had (HAD T.T) them all the time <3 ) Anyway, I can tell that Near is super sharp as well, but he still needs to unleash his power of reasoning before the poor readers who are in mourning.

After 8 volumes of Death Note, I find that the character I pity the most is Yagami-san, Light's dad. He seriously endured a great deal. His family was suspected, his daughter was kidnapped, he and his son were confined. He was shot by the Yotsuba Kira. And to add to that, he's the Director of the Japanese Police Force and had to give up the death note to the kidnappers. The poor guy was even scared that he'll have to divorce his wife. When I think of all that, I despise Light so very much. Because of his own son, Yagami-san aged like 20 years since Kira came into the world. (I don't resent Light, however, for what he's doing to Misa :p The stupid woman deserves multiples of that!)

One last thing, I ship Matsuda with Sayu <3 He cares about her more than Light does (he even considered killing her, that bastard.)
