I didn't give it 5 stars just because I loved L when he was alive, and the magnitude of the rivalry between him and Light. Now it all seems so simple to me. I hope it will improve in the next volume. *I'm still crying for L*

L was such an iconic and fascinating character. His unique personality, extraordinary intelligence, and mysterious ways made him stand out. The intense battle of wits between him and Light was one of the most captivating aspects of the story. However, as the plot progressed, some of the developments and resolutions felt a bit rushed or not as deeply explored as they could have been. This led to a certain sense of dissatisfaction for me. Nevertheless, I still have high hopes for the next volume. Maybe it will bring more depth and complexity to the story, and finally give L the justice and the ending he truly deserves. I will continue to follow this series with bated breath, eager to see what lies ahead.

Right. So, after all that went down with L and my rather pitiful display of bawling, I simply had to take a break from Death Note and just unwind a little. And when I picked it up again? Well...

First and foremost, let's talk about Mello. Why on earth is his name Mello? He's anything but mellow, folks. He's like he's on some serious stimulants or something because he's seriously scary. And that's not even the worst of it! My biggest gripe is the way he eats chocolate. You don't just bite into it like that! Dammit, it has break lines for a reason! Akzkskqkzoa! Not to mention, where does he get all that chocolate from? Jeez. And another thing! Don't even try to tell me he's not even a little bit chubby in the tummy area after all that chocolate consumption. Because excuse me, but that's just not possible.

Second is Light. I'm sorry, but I never liked him. I knew I never would. I mean, he's drawn like a total nutcase. *shivers* All his fake "I love you's" and such, you're not fooling me. You're completely batshit crazy and I know it! I. KNOW. No good guy would be drawn the way he is. Like, seriously, those sinister faces. 0^0

Third is Near... I like him. If I can't have L, then I will have Near. I demand it. DEMAND. IT.

Puanım 3/5 (%58/100)

My rating is 3 out of 5 (58 out of 100).

Without you, nothing has any taste, L (most likely Light thinks the same). L has died and it seems that the series is going downhill from here. Near and Mello are people who can never replace L. Generally speaking, although I liked it (because of some scenes), it was weaker compared to the previous volume. After the 7th volume, the decline for Death Note has already begun. When I first read it, it didn't appeal to me much either, and now the problems have caught my attention. If we can somehow warm up to Near and Mello a little more, the rest might be good, but I don't know. Anyway, there isn't much left until the end of the series, so I will continue.

I'm truly glad that I don't have to deal with high blood pressure because this situation is intense.

Over the years, with L no longer in the picture, it appears that the way is clear for Light to reach his ultimate objective of world domination. Nevertheless, L's two very distinct protégés have been patiently waiting for their moment. Suddenly, Light discovers himself having to fend off attacks from two separate enemies.

It's fascinating to observe Light attempting to outwit these new adversaries. However, I did think it was a bit improbable that two individuals who are relatively new to this game and have very little specific knowledge about who Light/Kira is and how he operates could pose such a significant threat to him. While we know that L had been working as an investigator for many years before taking on the Kira case (and thus his ability to figure out Light's moves is believable), we know very little about Near and Mello aside from the fact that they are supposedly extremely intelligent.

Regarding the design, I really like Mello's androgynous hard rock-esque style. I also find him to be a breath of fresh air as he is very different from anyone we've encountered so far.

Near, on the other hand, is a bit too similar to L, and I feel that some additional character development would have been beneficial.

I'm excited to continue reading, yet I'm also a little concerned. From the beginning, I've had the sense that Light isn't going to emerge from this unharmed. That seems quite obvious. But I truly, truly hope that he isn't defeated by these two. I would find that extremely disappointing.

Actual review: 3.5

I'm truly feeling the sense of loss. As I've delved deeper into this story, it seems to have shed something crucial, and I'm well aware of what that is. The narrative, which initially held so much promise and allure, now feels a bit diminished. It's as if a vital ingredient has been removed, leaving a void that's hard to ignore.

Perhaps it's the spark of originality that has faded, or maybe the emotional connection that was once so strong has weakened. Whatever the cause, it's a disappointment. I had high hopes for this story, and while it still has its redeeming qualities, the loss I'm experiencing is palpable. It makes me wonder if there's a way to recapture that initial magic and bring the story back to its former glory. Only time will tell if this can be achieved.

Light is truly amazing and intelligent, and I have always desired to support him. However, I have doubts about the way he treats others as if they are disposable.

Nonetheless, I appreciate how we can observe the characters' physical growth to some extent. For instance, Light has developed a more refined style, and Matsuda also appears more mature, which is rather endearing.

Moreover, I can't help but like Mello. He has this devil-may-care style and attitude, and he is also intelligent. I'm eager to see what he is capable of doing!

It's interesting to note the different personalities and developments of these characters in the story. Their actions and behaviors keep me engaged and curious about what will happen next.

Overall, despite my concerns about Light's treatment of others, I still find the story captivating and the characters' growth and characteristics fascinating.

Is it just me or is Light just a little bit stupid in this volume?

Normally, I'm practically screaming at how intelligent he is. His strategic mind and ability to outwit opponents are truly remarkable. But here, he just left me with a sense of meh.

I feel like since L died, he's become too relaxed. He seems to have let his guard down, and it shows in his actions.

Also, Mello and Near aren't brilliant replacements for L. Don't get me wrong, they're still good competition for Light. They have their own unique skills and ways of thinking. But I used to love how L and Light thought in exactly the same way. The competition between them was really intense, like a battle of wits between two equals.

Also, Misa has always been my favourite character. Her loyalty and love for Light are so endearing. But I just feel SO BAD for her all the time. How can Light not actually love her? :'(

Definitely not my favourite volume, but still enjoyable. There are still some interesting plot twists and character developments that keep me engaged. I'm curious to see how the story will unfold in the next volume.

After the truly devastating loss of such a significant and prominent personality within this manga, I found myself in a state of uncertainty. I simply wasn't sure if I would still be able to maintain my interest in it any longer. This particular mindset undoubtedly served as a hindrance to my enjoyment during the first half of this volume. However, as time gradually passed, Near and Mello began to emerge and shine brightly as the new leading characters.

It is truly fascinating to witness three distinct sides engaging in intense conflict and clashing heads, rather than the typical back-and-forth dynamic that was present between Light and L. The novel and unique dynamic that has developed between Near, Mello, and Light has shaken things up to a greater extent than I had initially anticipated. By the conclusion of this volume, I could almost manage to forget just how deeply I miss my beloved character!!

This new chapter in the manga's story has brought with it a fresh set of challenges and intrigues, and I am eager to see how the narrative will continue to unfold in the volumes that follow.

New Argentine edition with covers. Second volume of the second arc.

It presents an exciting continuation of the story.

The index of Volume 08 is quite diverse.

On Page 62, we have "Decisiones", which likely explores the important choices made by the characters.

Page 63 focuses on "Objetivos", perhaps highlighting the goals and aspirations driving the narrative.

"Perpendicular" on Page 64 might introduce a new concept or a significant event related to perpendicularity.

Responsibility is the theme of Page 65, showing how the characters handle their obligations.

Page 66, "Muertos", could deal with death and its impact on the story.

"Botón" on Page 67 might refer to a button that plays a crucial role in the plot.

Discoveries are made on Page 68, adding new elements to the story.

Page 69, "Vuelo", could involve flight or a sense of freedom.

Finally, "Escalofríos" on Page 70 might evoke a feeling of chills or unease.

In addition, it also includes the pages from How to Read XLII to XLVI, providing further insights and guidance for the readers.

This new edition is sure to captivate fans of the series and offer a rich reading experience.

I really miss L. Life just isn't the same without him around. He was such a unique and intelligent character.

Mello, on the other hand, looks like a girl! I actually thought it was a girl for a while. But not only that, he is also quite deranged and creepy. His actions and behavior are really strange.

Light is such an arrogant jerk! How can he use everyone like this? Doesn't he have any morals? His actions are really despicable.

Misa is so dumb! Can't she see that Light is just using her? She is so blindly in love with him that she doesn't even realize it.

I would like to get to know Near better. He doesn't seem as good as L, but he still has his own charm. It's funny how he is always playing with something.

However, the series has started to get a little boring to me. Maybe it's because I've watched too many episodes or maybe the story has become a bit predictable. I hope it can pick up again soon.

The intense battle of wits resumes once again. Light Yagami, the complex and brilliant protagonist, now finds himself in a more perilous situation as he faces not just one, but two formidable adversaries. My sole objective is to see him brought to justice. There is a sense of determination within me to follow this series and witness how everything unfolds.

It has truly not been the same without L. His presence added a unique charm and depth to the story. Without him, there is a void that is difficult to fill. But nevertheless, I am eager to continue and discover what lies ahead for Light and his new opponents.

The anticipation is palpable as I wonder how Light will attempt to outwit these new challenges and whether justice will ultimately prevail. The series has always been a thrilling ride, and I have no doubt that it will continue to be so.
