Light was truly a heartless individual. In the early stages of the series, it seemed as if he cared for his family and had a genuine desire to make the world a better place. However, that was no longer the case. He was willing to go to extreme lengths, even killing his own sister Sayu, his father, and anyone else who stood in the way of his goal to create a new world under his control.
The fact that he lived with Misa for years yet developed no real feelings for her further emphasized his inhumanity. He was completely okay with using her and then discarding her if it served his purpose.
Light had no redeeming qualities or any semblance of humanity. He came across as a caricature, lacking the depth he once had. I truly hope that his reign of terror comes to an end soon and that he is killed.
The new dynamics with Light having to constantly stay one step ahead of N and Mello were somewhat interesting. However, I was not overly impressed with how much Mello and Near reminded me of L. Although they were just as intelligent, if not more so, and just as logical, they still seemed like inferior versions of him.
Perhaps in later volumes, they will develop and establish their own unique identities. Only time will tell if they can truly stand out on their own and prove themselves to be worthy successors to L.
Notes: Light's sister (Sayu) was kidnapped by a group who desired the Death Note. Light now had two new opponents. Near/N was promoted as the new L and was collaborating with the FBI. Meanwhile, Mello joined the Mafia when Near/N became the new L.
Normally, I would have finished reading the volumes of Death Note in at most 3 days, but this time I finished it in 5 days. I am also reading "Şeker Portakalı" (The Sugar Orange). It is a very detailed thing, but I haven't even reached half of it yet. I am that busy, you know :'(
Anyway, it was nice. dldklkdlk. (It seems the "dldklkdlk" part doesn't have a specific meaning and might be some random text or a placeholder. If you have more context or a specific meaning for it, I can incorporate it more accurately.)
