After "The Runaway Bride", this book was really wonderful in terms of the continuation of the story. Cliff and Amanda were characters who were both very different from each other but also had many common interests. What bound them together and obscured the passion between them was their love for the sea.

Amanda was the daughter of a corsair. Since her father (Captain Carre) was a corsair, they had known each other long before he was captured and sentenced to death. However, after Carre was executed, Cliff made it a matter of honor to take Amanda to her family in England and took her under his protection. During the long sea voyage, the couple became even more attached to each other, and the electricity between them crackled, especially for Cliff. However, since he didn't want to corrupt an innocence, take on a responsibility, or get married, he didn't touch Amanda.

Compared to the female characters in other books, Amanda was much more courageous. Although I'm not entirely sure if this was because of her boldness, I must mention that she made me laugh a lot. At first, because of Cliff's desire for the girl, I couldn't warm up to the book, that is, I thought they would be an easy couple. But the later complication of things was very good, and I got so attached to the book and loved it very much. The translation was very good, there was no problem, it was fluent. It was a much more beautiful romance than "The Runaway Bride". I recommend it.

It was a five-star experience throughout. However, towards the conclusion, it slightly veered into four-star territory. But I decided to overlook the botched up ending. Brenda Joyce seems to have an issue when it comes to creating that high crescendo, that big explosion towards the finale. There was simply too much happening. The heroine's meeting with her mother was quite pointless. It achieved nothing and added no value to the story. It would have been far better if the heroine had caught her mother being the unpleasant person she was somewhere in the middle of the narrative. But instead, there was a meeting that was meaningless to the entire plot, more like a filler of pages, which really irritated me. The heroine running away was also unnecessary. I can't entirely blame the author as she might not have been properly guided by her preliminary readers and editors.

Now, let's get to the story. The hero is the son of an Earl, but being the youngest, he ran away to sea at the tender age of 14 and made his fortune there. He is both a merchant and a privateer. The heroine is the daughter of a pirate who is about to be hanged. She goes to persuade the governor to forgive her father, even offering herself as a one-night stand. She is almost a child, very young. The hero rescues her from the governor's clutches. The father is uncouth and rough, leaving the child to fend for herself. She has grown up swimming and boating in the sea in Jamaica, begging, borrowing, and stealing when her father is away, almost like a street urchin. She is tremendously beautiful. Anyway, the hero rescues her again at the hanging, gives her father a burial, and takes her to London to give her to her mother.

The hero has two children from two previous mistresses and adores them. He has no illusions about himself and never intends to get married. There is an immense attraction between him and the waif. He feels sympathy and compassion for her and realizes that if she is to be accepted by her mother, she should be a bit more ladylike. So, he begins teaching her. The tutor of his children teaches her to read and write, and the maid teaches her to wear a dress and dance, and so on. After many adventures, including a storm, they reach England. The girl's mother is a first-class nymphomaniac and narcissistic slut. She refuses to take the child and hits on the hero, but he already knew she was horrible and was just trying to see if she had any maternal feelings. The hero declares himself the heroine's guardian, decides to launch her in society and get her married, and endows her with a dowry. They both are madly in love, and by the end, the hero acknowledges it and they get married.

Except for the ending, I truly loved the book. It had the shades of the forbidden, which I admit is a weakness for me. That's my review. If you like this author, go ahead and read. This is one of her good ones.

I have an absolute adoration for this book. The main characters, Cliff and Amanda, along with all the secondary characters, especially Cliff's children, are truly captivating.

My favorite part was indeed the time that Cliff and Amanda spent on the frigate together. It has developed in me a new affinity for pirate romances.

My favorite scene was when Amanda and Cliff engaged in a sword fight with each other and when they weathered the storm together. I really felt the strong connection between them and their shared love for the sea and sailing.

I loved Amanda deeply and felt a profound connection with her. All her emotions became my own while reading the book. The scene where Cliff tells her the truth about her mother after visiting was especially powerful.

It's an awesome book. The most important thing for me when reading is to be able to establish a connection with the characters, and this book accomplished that perfectly.

It's truly a remarkable piece of literature that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good romance with a touch of adventure on the high seas.

La Sauvage, the daughter of a pirate, has known no other life than the one her father provided. The tales of her mother in England gave her a glimpse of polite society, but she is happiest running wild on her island in Jamaica. That all changes when her father is hanged for piracy.

Cliff, who has often seen the young La Sauvage around the island, saves her from an angry mob as her father is executed. He realizes that she is not just a child, but a young woman. Taking her back to her mother in England seems like the best option for her.

Amanda loves the sea and is accustomed to her freedom. The thought of having to learn about the ton and be presented to society fills her with great fear. Moreover, the possibility that her mother will reject her for being a savage tears her up inside. However, since it was her papa's dying wish, she must face these things head-on. In the meantime, Cliff is becoming an increasingly important part of her life.

Cliff desires to protect Amanda and give her all the comforts she lacked growing up. When she declares her love for him, he is faced with a great dilemma. He has vowed never to marry, yet he wants her to marry and be happy. The only problem is that he really dislikes all the other suitors for her.

This is a very well-written story, full of sweetness. It seems that all the de Warene men find true love and love once forever.

The author truly lost me as a reader when they wrote, "He'd had hundreds of beautiful, alluring women."

This statement seems to directly contradict what was said just a few pages earlier, which was, "He was very discriminating when it came to the ladies who shared his bed."

If he was so discriminating, how could he have had hundreds of women? It makes the character seem inconsistent and unreliable.

Perhaps the author was trying to show that the character had changed over time, or that his discrimination was not as strict as he made it out to be.

However, without further explanation, it just leaves the reader confused and disengaged.

I found myself no longer interested in the story or the character, as I couldn't trust what the author was telling me.

It's a shame, really, because the premise of the story had seemed quite promising at first.

But now, I'm left with a sense of disappointment and a feeling that the author could have done a better job of developing the character and maintaining consistency in the narrative.

For a long time, I had wanted to read something about pirates, an intense romance with those characteristics, and this book gave it to me.

This story presents us with our sweet Amanda, the daughter of a pirate. Her father is executed and hanged, and she is left alone. That's when the beautiful and handsome Cliff enters. He is a merchant, from a noble Irish family, and a corsair when he wants to be. Amanda is young, has nothing and no one left, and Cliff is moved by her situation and decides to take her to England with his mother.

Amanda is wild, raised by a pirate on a ship. She is brave and yet innocent. She loves the sea, being on the ship, and if the captain is Cliff, even more so. Cliff is handsome, with blonde hair and an earring in his ear. He is big, not only physically but also in his heart. He is affectionate, a good father, attentive to his family and to Amanda, and sweet.

From the beginning, there is a tension between the characters. Cliff respects and loves Amanda but doesn't want to take advantage of her. He doesn't want to make her his lover but also doesn't want to marry her. On the other hand, Amanda feels attracted to his delicacy, his attention, his dedication. He is always ready to support her, laugh with her, and share with her.

This couple is beautiful, sweet, and tender, and very passionate. The evolution of this romance is lovely and in some moments desperate. Amanda feels everything with him, and Cliff does too but denies it. It's the perfect mix to faint from the tension. Reading every time Cliff drools over Amanda is adorable.

An entertaining, sweet, and adorable romance.

The first chapter, to be honest, read just like an old school bodice ripper. It was quite something that made me initially want to stop right there. However, I persevered and continued reading until chapter four. But then, I decided to skip to the last chapter. And you know what? I had this feeling that I really hadn't missed anything significant. The characters in this story simply did nothing for me. They didn't seem to have any real depth or charm. Especially the heroine, she was borderline annoying. Her actions and behaviors just didn't sit well with me. It was a bit of a letdown, to be frank.

I guess everyone has different tastes when it comes to reading, but for me, this particular book didn't quite hit the mark. Maybe others might find it more enjoyable, but unfortunately, it just wasn't for me.

This was cute but pretty run of the mill.

It didn't really stand out in a crowd.

The story had its moments, but it felt a bit formulaic.

The characters were likable enough, but not overly complex or memorable.

The romance was sweet, with the line "I was in love with you since you tried to duel me in a tavern" adding a touch of charm.

However, it didn't have that extra spark to make it truly special.

Overall, it was an okay read, but I probably wouldn't rush to recommend it to others.

Maybe it's just me, but I was hoping for something a little more unique and engaging.

Still, it did manage to hold my attention for a while, so there is that.

Three stars seems about right for this one.

It's not bad, but it's not great either.

Just an average little tale that might appeal to some, but not to everyone.

5th re-read.

Still one of my old all-time greats. I really don't know why, but this particular book stood out so vividly all those years ago. It was, without a doubt, the best in the series for me.

The story is simply captivating. There's a drop-dead gorgeous heroine and an equally charming hero who engage in a fierce battle of wills. Their interactions are filled with tension and passion, as they both strive to prove themselves.

Yet, in the midst of all the chaos, they manage to find that special kind of love - soulmate love. It's the kind of love that makes you believe in happily ever afters.

This book will always have a special place on my re-read shelf. It's a classic that I can return to again and again, and each time, it will still manage to touch my heart and leave me in awe.

Hermosa y apasionada historia

Just like all of its predecessors, the story of the De Warenne family is extremely interesting, filled with surprises, immense love, and numerous adventures. It truly captivated me. I am eagerly looking forward to the next installment of this saga. The De Warenne's history is a rich tapestry that weaves together the lives and experiences of its members. Each character has their own unique personality and story to tell. The love that exists within the family is palpable and heartwarming. The adventures they embark on are thrilling and keep the reader on the edge of their seat. I cannot wait to see what new surprises and adventures await in the next part of this amazing story.

Brenda Joyce's "Aşka Yelken Açanlar" was read and finished. I had bought the book way back in January. I'm not sure in which worlds I was wandering while postponing reading a Brenda Joyce book.

First of all, don't ask me if I liked this book... Can I not like Brenda as a writer? :-) It's again a fluent novel. And again, there is no limit to the passion experienced. The De Warenne men die for love, period. Ah, aren't they there?! Aren't they there?! :-) The De Warenne's fall in love only once. If it happens, it's just right. It would be nice if one of them wrote to me too. :-) They published a poem for me. :-) :-) :-) Ah! Ah!

In "Aşka Yelken Açanlar", it was telling the love story of Cliff and Amanda, a pirate girl. It kind of reminded me of my Devlin a little. Very very little... Even though Cliff had taken his stubbornness from his older brother, the plot was different. The author again handled the subject beautifully. The only part I didn't like was that Amanda wouldn't hesitate to get into bed with the nation to pay a price for everything. Iyyyyhhh, stupid girl!!! Oh, well.

.. Also, in this writing, I like this; the book is very easy to read. The language is captivating. She has such a pen that you don't get tired while reading. There is a constant excitement...

It was a very good romance! I recommend this book and this writer to everyone. :-)
