This book truly served as a powerful reminder of the very essence of why I have such an intense love for historical romance. It made me deeply wonder what could have possibly caused such a long delay in my reading of another one of these captivating tales.

Cliff and Amanda's story was simply spellbinding. I found myself completely engrossed and just couldn't get enough of it. Amanda, who has been raised by her pirate father since the tender age of 4, faces a terrifying situation when her father is caught and scheduled to be hanged. In a desperate bid to save her father's life, she makes a heart-wrenching offer to the governor, willing to sacrifice her body in exchange.

Enter Cliff de Warenne, a powerful and wealthy privateer who has witnessed Amanda's growth on the islands. He intervenes just in time, saving her before she can go through with the barter. Their story unfolds like a beautiful fairy tale, filled with passion, drama, and unexpected twists.

I don't want to reveal too much of the plot, but if you have a penchant for historical romances and those wonderful Happily Ever Afters, I wholeheartedly recommend this book. I'm already looking forward to going back and delving into the others in this series.

This book is a captivating historical romance novel. Brenda Joyce truly outdid herself with "A Lady At Last"!

Poor, little, vulnerable Amanda Carre has endured a great tragedy. Her father was sentenced to be hung, and now she has lost him. In a town filled with rogues, her only hope of survival lies with a highly regarded, wealthy, and handsome privateer named Cliff de Warenne. Amanda's childhood was marred by violence and thievery as she grew up at her father's side. Now, as she must travel side by side with Cliff, she faces a new challenge - learning to become an etiquette lady. Fortunately, she has Cliff there to assist her. As the days pass, they find themselves dangerously yearning for each other and growing to respect new aspects of life.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book. It is one of the sweetest books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. If you have a penchant for romance, history, or romantic history, you should most definitely pick up this book. It will transport you to a different time and place, filled with love, adventure, and self-discovery.

After reading a book by this author that had favorably impressed me and one that had disappointed me, here is something again that I like.

Cliff I had already met in the previous book, so his character was already starting to take shape a bit and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen to him.

As in some previous novels of this saga, here too the protagonist transforms from a vulnerable, immature and infatuated young girl with the male protagonist into a brave woman who knows how to analyze her own feelings. With the particularity that in this case, like a true savage, she tries to transform herself into a lady capable of mingling with the English nobility.

The author broadly tries to make the reader aware of the events dealt with in the other books, but it can be read calmly without having read the others.

The style is smooth, elegant and although the two are immediately attracted to each other, there are no overly hot scenes. The author has known how to capture the reader's attention page after page without ever boring. The plot reminds a bit of Shaw's comedy Pygmalion.

One of the very first of Joyce's heroes who wasn't a complete jerk! I truly liked Cliff.

However, I gave this book only three stars. The main reason was that I felt it could have been significantly shorter, perhaps around 100 pages shorter. The story seemed to drag on at times, and it made the reading experience a bit less enjoyable.

Another aspect that really got on my nerves was Cliff's reasons for not wanting to marry Amanda. His indecision and the way he kept wavering made it difficult for me to fully sympathize with him. I understand that he might have had his own concerns and doubts, but it felt like he was being overly complicated about the whole situation.

Overall, while I liked Cliff as a character, the book had its flaws that prevented it from getting a higher rating.

DNF

My first encounter with Brenda Joyce's work was quite an experience.

At first, I was excited to dive into her story. However, as I began reading, I quickly realized that it wasn't going to be as straightforward as I had hoped.

The plot seemed to be moving in a rather erratic direction, and I found myself constantly struggling to keep up.

The characters, although interesting in their own right, lacked the depth and development that I had expected.

Despite my best efforts, I simply couldn't get into the story.

In the end, I had to admit defeat and DNF (Did Not Finish) the book.

It was a disappointing experience, but I suppose it's all part of the process of finding the books that truly resonate with me.

Maybe I'll give Brenda Joyce another chance in the future, but for now, I'll be moving on to other reads.

I originally had no interest in reading this book. However, since I had derived great pleasure from some of Brenda Joyce's other novels, I decided to give this one a try. To my surprise and delight, I ended up loving this book.

It had a captivating charm that managed to hold my attention firmly throughout. The story was so well-crafted that it made me deeply care for the characters and their various situations.

Each character was vividly portrayed, with their own unique personalities and flaws. I found myself emotionally invested in their lives, eagerly turning the pages to see what would happen next.

The author's writing style was engaging and流畅, making it a joy to read. Overall, this book exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good novel.

The book was extremely difficult for me to engage with initially.

I wasn't certain whether it was due to the narrator or simply the nature of the story itself.

I continuously checked reviews to determine if it was worthwhile to continue reading, and I'm truly glad that I did.

By the conclusion of the book, I had become fully immersed in the story.

This is my very first book of this series, as I discovered it on sale through Audible.

I will most probably obtain the other books in the series as well.

I'm relieved that I didn't give up on reading it.

Overall, it was a rewarding experience that made me eager to explore more of this series.

This is a rather good swashbuckling pirate story that offers a great adventure and features a wonderful heroine.

However, I'm not really fond of ward/guardian stories. In this particular case, it didn't quite appeal to me, especially because of the sheer number of times the guardian refers to the girl as "young". It just felt a bit off-putting.

Moreover, this book is rather rambling and repetitive. It could really have benefited from a tighter edit to make the story more concise and engaging.

Overall, while there are some good elements in the story, the ward/guardian aspect and the lack of a more refined edit prevent it from being a truly outstanding read.

Urgg.. I really don't know what went wrong between books 1/2 of this series and the ones that followed. It seems that as the sequels progress, they just keep getting worse. This is truly difficult for me because I absolutely adore Brenda Joyce and I loved "Promise of the Rose" to bits. I was so excited when I learned that she was writing more about this family. However, after reading books 3, 4, 5, 6, and now 7, my opinion has completely changed.

The heroine in this book, Amanda, never seems to grow up. She acts like a child throughout the entire story, which made it a real struggle for me to get through. I had to skip chapter after chapter just to finish the book.

The hero, Cliff, is the youngest son of the Earl of Adare. He is involved in the shipping business. When he arrives in Kingston, he discovers that one of his acquaintances, Carre, is going to be hanged as a pirate the next morning. Although Cliff only has a passing acquaintance with Carre, he has seen the man's daughter, Amanda, swimming and such several times over the years. When Cliff goes to visit his friend, the colonel governor, Mr. Wood, he walks in on Amanda begging for her father's life. The governor tells Amanda that if she sleeps with him, he will pardon her father. Amanda agrees, but this "deal" disgusts Cliff, who is in the room. Cliff asks his friend not to go through with it, but Mr. Wood tells him to leave. Cliff leaves, but then has second thoughts and bursts in on Amanda and Mr. Wood before anything can really happen. He tells Amanda that Wood was never going to pardon her father; instead, he was going to use her and then kill her father in the morning.

Amanda then discovers that her mother is still alive and is a lady in England. The hero takes her to England to meet her mother. I won't go into the rest of the story because it would be spoilers.

Overall, I didn't particularly like this book. However, oddly enough, I did like Amanda's suitor and I wish there could have been a happily ever after for him and Amanda in the end. I felt that the heroine never really matured and it felt more like I was reading a young adult romance. The heat level was barely there, and there was only a bit of fistfighting violence.

A Lady At Last is a remarkable novel that has received a high rating of 5/4.04 on Goodreads, and in my opinion, it truly deserves a 5/5. As I was reading this book, I was completely captivated, as if my feet were lifted off the ground. The author of this book is an outstanding writer.

"Aska Yelken Açanlar" is a novel that lives up to its name. It tells the story of Cliff De Warren, the youngest son of the De Warren family.

Amanda Carre, a pirate's daughter from the Jamaican islands, enters Cliff's life like a storm. From the moment she arrives, the events between the two unfold at a rapid pace without losing any momentum.

Amanda is not like the other women who have entered Cliff's life. She is uneducated, very young, and inexperienced for a rough sea captain. However, she is also extremely brave and a young girl who defies the rules.

She is the only daughter of her father, a former naval officer. She has no one else but her father. She doesn't know her mother at all. In fact, her mother, who was a real lady, abandoned her, and she is an illegitimate child. Her father kept this truth from her to avoid making her sad. But in the end, things don't go as planned. Her father is convicted of a crime and is about to be hanged.

To prevent her father from being hanged, Amanda goes to the governor of the colony, where she meets Cliff De Warren. At first, Cliff doesn't realize that the small girl he thought was Amanda is actually a young woman. But even though he tries to prevent her from doing what she is about to do, her future is still uncertain.

The scene where Amanda's father is hanged is very touching. Cliff had promised his old friend that he would protect and take care of his daughter. The plan was simple. He would take Amanda to her mother, who lives in England, and hand her over to her. But the journey they take together is as beautiful as it is dangerous. Because as the attraction between them grows stronger, Cliff's promise to his friend Carre to protect her is changing his colors.

They even brave storms together. For this wild young girl who is a pirate's daughter, sailing is like a child's game. But of course, it's not enough to face the society in England and her mother.

The author's pen is amazing. I really liked the way the story was told and translated. The book flows smoothly. The De Warren men are known for their stubbornness and coldness when it comes to love, and Cliff is no exception. Some of the scenes reminded me of Judith Mcnaught's "Sonsuza Kadar" book. The list of suitors prepared to marry Amanda, Cliff's dislike of it, and his crazy jealousy of the suitors inevitably made me think of Jason.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to Pegasus Yayınları for presenting this book to us with such a successful translation. It is one of the most successful historical novels in recent times. If you haven't read the author yet, you are missing out on a lot.

It seems that the heroes of the next story in the book will be Rex De Warren and Blance Carrinton, the former mistress of the charismatic Tyrell De Warren.

I hope we can read that story without too much delay.

I wish all the readers a pleasant reading experience.
