I had to read the book in a rather fragmented way due to technical reasons. I gave it a 3. Actually, it was nice, but I wasn't as impressed as I was by Tyler or Devlin's stories.

Amanda is a slightly wild girl raised by her pirate father. At the beginning of the book, when her father is about to be hanged, Amanda breaks into the room of the man who gave the order to kill her father, and Cliff is there. That's when they meet for the first time. As the girl is yelling at the man, Cliff intervenes. Well, the girl looks at Cliff and, instead of causing more trouble, offers to go with him.

Just when the execution is about to take place, Cliff jumps into the room and takes the girl out. (Amanda has this unnecessary urge to offer herself to whoever comes forward to solve her problems, and she makes the same offer to Cliff.)

Well, before her father is killed, he tells the girl to go to her mother and says that a man like De Warren will protect her and she can trust him. And her father is killed. Amanda then goes to Cliff and asks for help. Cliff takes the girl to take her to her mother, and during the sea voyage, a closeness begins to develop between them. Cliff tries to keep his distance, but to no avail. The girl is constantly provoking the man she agreed to yesterday, saying she doesn't want him and challenging him to a duel and such.

I said the book was nice. In my opinion, the problem was that the story dragged on for too long, or maybe it seemed that way because I read it in parts. Still, Cliff is not a Devlin in my eyes. I can't go without saying that Cliff's valets are very cute, and I especially fell in love with the girl :D Alexi also has a book, and I'm curious about that one too :D

WOWZA! I truly wished there were more stories like this one. The inevitable and bittersweet painful nature of the characters' romance is an apt description. Our hero, the third son of Adare, left home at age 14 to carve out a place for himself in the world. He was lusty by nature, having fathered two bastards with different mothers, and had an unconventional father who adored them. Normally, I'm not overly partial to heroes with kids, but Cliff's children were adorable and kind. Cliff never expected to be La Sauvage's knight in shining armor. In fact, he was helpless in the face of her beauty, combined innocence, and glaring naivete. He described our heroine as another child in his family because she was so lost after her father's death. Cliff is not difficult to like. Overall, he's a good man, but he can be stupidly blind and stubborn. He's practically in denial throughout the whole story, even though his actions and jealousy-prone outbursts speak volumes. Indefinitely, he treats our heroine with great respect and care. Not to mention, he cherishes her thoughts, and their shared love for the ocean is a bonus.

Our heroine was just too adorable, and I loved reading about her. She's as harmless as a babe and was raised by a pirate, so she's desperately lacking in the social and ethical departments. She swears like a sailor and charms like a whore, yet she's still a virgin. When her father was sentenced to hang for piracy, she did everything she could to rescue him, but his fate was inevitable. This led to her meeting Cliff, finding a champion in him, and eventually falling hopelessly in love with him. You can't really blame the girl. Despite her innocence, what made her charming was her brazen spirit and good-natured determination, especially when she learned to read English and tried to behave like a lady.

Overall, this was one absolutely endearing story. Mind you, the characters had their flaws, but they didn't deter from the story. In fact, I believe they made the story more raw, a bit angsty, and exciting.

Another great book by Joyce

James Joyce is widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative writers of the 20th century. His works are known for their complex language, experimental structures, and profound exploration of human consciousness and experience. One of his masterpieces is yet another great book that showcases his unique literary style and genius

This book takes readers on a journey through the minds and lives of its characters, delving deep into their thoughts, emotions, and desires. Joyce's use of stream-of-consciousness narration allows us to experience the story from the inside out, as if we are inhabiting the characters' minds

The language in this book is rich and evocative, filled with vivid descriptions and powerful imagery. Joyce's word choice and sentence structure create a rhythm and flow that draw the reader in and keep them engaged from beginning to end

Overall, this is another outstanding work by Joyce that is sure to be studied and admired for generations to come. It is a must-read for anyone interested in literature and the human condition.

This book will always be known as 'My Swashbuckling Pirate Chick book.'

Keep reading for an explanation.

On the surface, this story appears cute and fun. If we set aside the fact that the main character, Amanda, is 17 and soon to be 18, while the hero and love interest, Cliff, is 10 years older. Even as I wrote that, I thought, "Meh! What's 10 years?"

Amanda is the daughter of a pirate. She has grown up without her mother and is wild around the edges, lacking in ladylike decorum. During her father's hanging (at pirate court, argh! Convicted of piracy, argh! Ye mateys, WTF?), Cliff sees this wild child and comes to her rescue.

Over the next few pages, we find ourselves rooting for Amanda to become a lady, while Cliff De Warrenne is painted as the hero, savior, and great protector that we all desire. A bit of Stockholm syndrome occurs, and Amanda falls in love with Cliff.

The rest of the book focuses on Cliff coming to terms with the fact that he loves Amanda and that no other suitor will do.

Issues: How on earth do you pull a dagger from your décolletage and brandish it like a sword? I spent an entire session trying to pull my "dagger" from my breasts, and I was either going to break my nose, bust my chin, or hurt myself. I was utterly thankful when we switched to a boot dagger instead. I even enlisted my Facebook friends to help me understand this.

She crafts a spicy sword fight between Amanda and Cliff. It's not just a sword fight but a battle of who wears the pants. I mean, she is a pirate's daughter, so did you expect her to not be handy with a sword? It reads more like a sex scene. It's a Harlequin romance novel, so I expected a sex scene or three, but it's kind of a let-down, wrapped up in less than a page every time it happened.

Pros: Brenda does build good characters. She has a nice writing structure, and I appreciated that I had to look up a few words for absolute understanding, most of which were related to sailing, pirating, or the time period.

I was slightly snowed in, and this book was a nice reprieve from the snowflakes falling outside. Cuddled up under my blanket, it was like a cozy hug.

Seriously loved - one of my favorites

Love is a beautiful and profound emotion that can touch our hearts in the most remarkable ways. When we seriously love something or someone, it becomes an integral part of our lives. It could be a hobby, a place, a person, or even an idea. For me, there are several things that I seriously love, and they hold a special place in my heart.

One of my absolute favorites is reading. I have always been an avid reader, and the world of books has always fascinated me. Reading allows me to escape into different worlds, meet new characters, and gain new perspectives. It broadens my horizons and enriches my mind. Whether it's a thrilling mystery, a heartwarming romance, or a thought-provoking non-fiction book, I always find something to love in the pages of a good book.

Another thing that I seriously love is traveling. Exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and trying new foods is an adventure that I can never get enough of. Traveling allows me to step out of my comfort zone and discover the beauty and diversity of the world. It gives me a sense of freedom and excitement that is truly无与伦比. Whether it's a bustling city or a quiet countryside, each place has its own unique charm that I can't help but fall in love with.

Amanda Carre, nicknamed "La Sauvage", makes a decision to fulfill the promise she made to her father just before he was executed on the gallows, after being accused of piracy. She decides to move to London to live with her mother, whom she hasn't seen since she was a child.

Cliff De Warenne decides to assist Amanda and accompany her on her journey. He is determined to transform that wild and unmannered young woman into a proper lady, and for this, he has six weeks ahead. However, the attraction he feels for her turns the trip into a Hell.

I decided to read this novel because I saw that it had a high rating on Goodreads and I have always loved stories that take place on the high seas, especially if there are pirates involved. However, this book has been a complete failure for me, as it has not met any of my expectations, neither in terms of the love story nor as an adventure book.

The romance between Cliff and Amanda is based on physical attraction. From the first moment he sees her, he desires to possess her and the young woman, despite being a virgin, does not hesitate to offer her body from the very beginning... and not only to him, but also to another character (although this is to try to save the life of her father).

The character of both of them also didn't appeal to me. Amanda is too young and has many crazy ideas in her head, which leads her to act irrationally and imprudently most of the time. And Cliff, as the author herself puts it, is a "very virile" man, the classic protagonist to whom no woman can resist, and unable to fall in love, which leads him to a continuous No-No-But-Yes-Yes with Amanda, which I found tiresome.

On the other hand, Cliff is a corsair; Amanda's father and she herself are pirates, but despite this, the only sword fight that takes place is between them and is an attempt to recreate a somewhat intense scene that, like many others, is rather difficult to believe could happen.

Despite the good reviews it has received from other readers, it has not managed to move me at any time and I found it boring most of the time. It is part of an extensive series of books that have members of the De Warenne family of different generations as protagonists, but after getting to know a good part of them in this book, I don't think I will be motivated by their respective stories.

This was the very first romance novel that I had ever read.

I came across it quite by chance. You see, I am an enormous fan of 'pirate' novels. After reaching adulthood and having exhausted all the teen pirate novels available to me, I discovered this particular story titled 'A Lady at Last'.

I decided to give it a go and even listened to the audiobook. Well, initially, it was the audiobook that I started with. However, I really didn't take a liking to the narrator. But, the story itself was good enough to keep me engaged.

As a result, I ended up reading all of the Dewarren Dynasty novels. It's a nice family saga. I would recommend this book to others. But, since then, I have come across many much better novels that have truly captured my heart and imagination.

Nonetheless, this first romance novel holds a special place in my reading journey as it was the one that introduced me to this genre.

2.5 stars. While this was an okay read, I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped to. A historical romance with a pirate theme sounded like a winning premise for me. I was really excited to dive into this story, imagining the thrilling adventures on the high seas and the passionate romance between the characters. However, as I started reading, I found that it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The plot was a bit predictable, and the characters didn't have as much depth as I would have liked. The romance felt rushed at times, and I didn't really connect with the main characters on an emotional level. Overall, it was just an okay read. It had its moments, but it didn't leave a lasting impression on me.

Amanda Carre's words, "I need to have a rolling deck under my feet and a good wind in my hair," set the tone for this captivating story.

This book is truly like a warm, cozy hug, straight to the favorites list. It's filled with so many highlights, heartwarming moments, charm, and compelling情节. The troupe with its Pygmalion pirate theme is simply amazing. I can't fathom anything better. Cliff saves Amanda from a mob at her father's hanging, and a strange need to protect her stirs within him. Her father's dying wish is for her to be reunited with her mother in England, so they embark on a wonderful journey.

"You are trying to transform a pirate's child into a lady?"
"It seemed the obvious course of action."
"My charming, rakehell, conscienceless brother, infamous for his seductions of courtesans and countesses, is now champion of a pirate's daughter. This will be a very interesting Season, I think."
Amanda is a remarkable heroine. She is courageous, beautiful, and fun. She can handle a sword and captain a ship. Cliff is smitten with her but refuses to admit it, trying to remain a gentleman.
"Papa likes you, too," Ariella said abruptly.
Amanda tripped. "What?"
Ariella smiled at her. "He stares at you all the time and he turns red. He never blushes, except when you are in the room."
Cliff is an awesome hero, and he's a father! His kids are adorable. He's strong, arrogant, caring, powerful, and kind.
She felt as if she was in a fairy tale with her own Prince Charming. She had to pinch herself to remind her that she was hardly her prince. But somehow, he had become her champion.
The journey from beautiful Jamaica over the seas to England and then the introduction to the ton was so lovely. Cliff's family was the best, and I adored every single one of them. I didn't even mind the small separation because everything that happened was so exciting!

Read it! You don't want to miss this wonderful gem!

After the terrible book where everything went wrong, I felt like reading something that guaranteed a happy ending and I had this book at the kiosk at the train station in Östersund. The Swedish title was more exciting: "The Pirate's Daughter".

If you like pounding limbs and stiff breasts in a historical setting and can imagine taking off your gender glasses for a while, then it works. You know what you're getting and how it's going to end.

It's a simple pleasure, really. Sometimes you just need a story that doesn't make you think too hard, that follows a predictable path but still manages to entertain.

This book might not be a literary masterpiece, but it does what it sets out to do. It provides a bit of escapism, a chance to lose yourself in a different world for a little while.

And that's all I was looking for at that moment. A light read to take my mind off the stress and chaos of everyday life.

So I bought the book and settled into my seat on the train, ready to embark on this fictional adventure.

I'm truly not certain as to why I persist in trying.

Am I perhaps a glutton for punishment, willingly subjecting myself to something that might not bring much satisfaction?

Or could it be that I'm earnestly attempting to unearth some hidden gems within her books?

I really don't know the answer.

However, I just couldn't seem to continue with this particular one.

There was something about it that made it difficult for me to stay engaged.

Maybe it was the writing style, or perhaps the story didn't grip me as I had hoped.

Whatever the reason, I found myself losing interest and finally had to give up.

But still, that question lingers in my mind: why do I keep trying?

Is there a glimmer of hope that the next book will be the one that changes my perception?

Only time will tell.

Probably could have been 5 stars if Eleanor didn’t make an appearance as her most annoying self.

She is a mother of 2, yet she still engages in such immature behavior as snooping on others and throwing books at her brothers.

It seems that she hasn't matured at all over the years.

This lack of growth and development really detracts from what could otherwise have been a great experience.

One would expect that with age and the responsibilities of motherhood, Eleanor would have become more understanding and less prone to such childish antics.

However, it appears that she is still stuck in her old ways, which is a disappointment.

Perhaps she needs to take a long hard look at herself and make some changes if she wants to be taken seriously and for others to have a more positive opinion of her.

Until then, her actions will continue to be a hindrance to what could have been a 5-star situation.
