Cliff de Warenne is a true gentleman. He would never manipulate an innocent girl like the clumsy Amanda Carre, even though the charm of the girl truly makes Cliff flustered and confused.

After her father was hanged on an island in Jamaica, Amanda had to get used to being under Cliff's guardianship. Amanda has been described as an independent girl who is not used to receiving kindness from others for free. Many times, Amanda offered her virginity to Cliff as payment while Cliff was taking care of Amanda to achieve her goal of becoming a Lady in London. In fact, Cliff has been charmed and realizes that his defenses have often almost failed and been tempted by Amanda's offer of her tempting body. But Cliff always returns firmly and protects Amanda's honor.

The push and pull relationship between Cliff and Amanda is very interesting and not boring. Although there is a lot of angst, but (maybe) I have liked the character of Amanda who is brave and independent from the beginning. Also, Amanda's strong desire to learn to read and become a proficient Lady, I give a thumbs up. Instead, Cliff is a bit disappointing in my opinion, although he is a super gentleman. This Cliff is stubborn and doesn't want to marry anyone, not because Amanda is not a lady or anything. But Cliff rejects all the lists of potential suitors for Amanda, including those who openly approach Amanda. What about Cliff?

I like both of these H/H who are firm against Dulcea Belford (Amanda's biological mother) who is materialistic and promiscuous, whose mind is full of calculations, and they hit the target accurately with a firm and unmerciful refusal to not follow the manipulations full of tricks like Dulcea's.

Although the climax at the end is a bit dramatic, but I am quite satisfied. At least the characters of Cliff and Amanda are consistent. And although Cliff is a bit hesitant when he realizes that he loves Amanda, but he is not afraid to admit that he is wrong and wants Amanda forever. UHUUUUIIII!!!!

In all fairness, most of the book was only worthy of two stars.

It was truly a disappointment for the most part. Only the last four or five chapters managed to salvage a bit of the reading experience.

Amanda, the protagonist, was a little childish, but that was somewhat understandable considering she was seventeen-turn-eighteen in the novel. After all, she was basically just a little more than a child.

However, it was Cliff's immature behavior that really had me struggling to finish the book. His actions were so inconsistent. In one scene, he would seem caring and concerned, but just five minutes later in the same scene, he would be completely detached and uninterested.

It was just really hard for me to develop any sort of liking for him. His unpredictable nature made it difficult to invest in his character or the story as a whole.

Overall, while the ending had some redeeming qualities, the book as a whole fell short due to the inconsistent characterizations and lackluster plot for the majority of its pages.

The characters are well-developed and their interactions are both heartwarming and sometimes a bit spicy, adding an extra layer of excitement to the narrative.

If you're looking for a light read that will make you smile and maybe even blush a little, this is the perfect choice.

It's a book that you can easily pick up and get lost in, enjoying every moment of the sweet romance it has to offer.

Whether you're a fan of romance novels or just looking for something enjoyable to pass the time, this spicy and era-themed story is sure to please.

Disclaimer: This book is set during the medieval/regency period, which was an extremely long time ago. There may be certain approaches and behaviors that some people in the modernized era would find unappealing. So, before you embark on reading it, please take this into consideration.

I absolutely adored Cliff and his children. Oh, baby Ariella is such a delightful child. She brings so much joy and warmth to the story. As for Amanda, I initially sympathized with her. However, the way she conducted herself throughout the narrative made me question why I ever pitied her. She is truly an astonishing character, with her actions and decisions constantly keeping the reader on the edge of their seat.

Overall, this book offers a captivating glimpse into a bygone era, filled with complex characters and engaging storylines. It is a must-read for those who enjoy historical fiction and are willing to look beyond the differences in time and culture.

4.5 stars!

This book is truly one of the best in the series. The main character (MC) is extremely likable and well-developed. From the very beginning, I was drawn to the MC's personality and journey. The story itself is engaging and full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I found myself completely immersed in the world that the author has created. Every page was a delight to read, and I couldn't put the book down. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for the next installment in the series. RTC (Review to Come).

The author is good at holding the reader's attention because, even though it is intuited from the beginning that the two protagonists, Amanda and Cliff, will give in to their feelings, there are surprises and plot twists before this final capitulation.

However, the only thing that didn't completely convince me is the fact that the relationship between them is a bit unbalanced. Cliff is a 27-year-old man with many experiences behind him and a certain self-confidence. In fact, Cliff is an elegant and irresistible pirate who already has 2 children without being married and has had several lovers. On the other hand, Amanda is only a 17-year-old girl, brave but also too spontaneous. Although she will know how to evolve in the course of a few months and become from a "savage" a lady of high London society.

Overall, the story has its engaging aspects, but the imbalance in the relationship makes it a bit less believable at times. Nevertheless, it still manages to keep the reader hooked until the end with its unexpected turns and developments.

A charming and costumed novel.

The story was good, although in some places I felt the novel was a bit lacking in depth.

The characters are likable, although I sometimes wanted to shake Cliffe.

Overall, it was an excellent bedtime read. :D

This novel has a certain allure with its vivid descriptions of the costumed world. The plot unfolds in an interesting way, keeping the reader engaged from start to finish.

However, there are moments when the story seems to skim over some important aspects, leaving the reader craving for more details.

The characters, on the other hand, are well-developed and have their own unique personalities. Cliffe, in particular, is a complex character who sometimes makes decisions that are frustrating to the reader.

Despite these minor flaws, the novel is a great choice for those looking for a light and enjoyable read before going to bed. It provides a welcome escape from the stresses of daily life and allows the reader to immerse themselves in a fictional world of romance and adventure.

This series began with a great deal of excitement and promise. It really made a strong impression right from the start.

However, as we moved along to the last several installments, it's truly astonishing to think that the same author penned them.

This particular one, well, it's a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the character of H was rather good and added an interesting dimension to the story.

But on the other hand, the character of h with her naivety and the way she seemed like a doormat was not only unattractive but also quite annoying.

The plot had its moments, scoring a 6.6 out of 10. It had some engaging elements that kept the reader somewhat interested.

And in terms of streaminess, it managed a 7.5. The flow of the story was relatively smooth, although there were a few bumps along the way. Overall, this installment has its pros and cons, and it leaves the reader with a somewhat ambivalent feeling.

Amanda Carre is the unruly and wild daughter of a pirate who is currently facing the gallows for piracy. She is overcome with grief and at a loss for what to do. As a result, she devises numerous plots to exonerate her father, determined to do whatever it takes to secure his freedom. However, her actions ultimately lead her into the arms and under the responsibility of Cliff De Warrene, a nobleman and privateer.

I adored this book! Cliff de Warrene is the epitome of the perfect prince charming and gentleman, despite the many mentions in the book that he was a rogue. BJ executed this story flawlessly. If you're someone who craves steamy sex scenes on every other page, then this romance may not be for you. Instead, it's all about denial and the chase. You barely get a kiss until well after 100 pages into the book, as Cliff is honorable in his goals and intentions. I really appreciated that it wasn't like many other historical romance books where the man immediately pounces on a protesting woman and seduces her. This book was much more realistic, as the hero and heroine took their time getting to know each other. By the end of the book, the audience truly feels that they know each other before they finally come together. It's a great read, one that you can enjoy over and over again.
