2 or 3 stars... I just couldn't make up my mind.

Some parts of this were okay, but then there were other parts that were just downright ridiculous.

I finally settled on giving this 2 stars. The reason being that there were 2 authors who wrote this and thought it was good, when in reality, it really isn't.

Maybe this rating will balance out the opinions of those folks who, for some unknown reason, believe this is a 5 star piece of work.

I would highly recommend that you go read a John Sandford instead. His works are truly outstanding and a pleasure to read.

You'll be able to tell the difference between a mediocre piece like this and a truly great one after you've read some of his books.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book to a much greater extent than I initially anticipated. FBI agent Nick Pellisante has dedicated a significant amount of time and effort in his pursuit of getting Dominic Cavello to stand before a jury. Andie DeGrasse, a single mother, has unexpectedly found herself serving on that very jury. From this moment on, neither of their lives will ever be the same again.

There are certain aspects in this book that can be considered rather extreme or over the top. However, the number of such instances is not sufficient to dampen my overall enjoyment of the story. I had a genuine liking for the two main characters, Nick and Andie. Their personalities and struggles made them relatable and engaging. On the other hand, I had no difficulty whatsoever in despising Cavello, the antagonist. His actions and motives were clearly detestable.

If you are a reader of Patterson and his co-authored books, you are well aware of what to expect. These books are known for their fast-paced narratives and short chapters, which keep the reader hooked from start to finish. This particular book is one of the better ones that I have had the pleasure of reading. It combines elements of mystery, suspense, and drama in a seamless manner, making it a highly enjoyable read.

I usually have a great passion for Patterson's books. However, I was somewhat disappointed in this particular one.

The trial part seemed rather slow-paced to me, and the remainder of the story kind of gave me the impression that I had come across it elsewhere before. I'm not certain as to why that is.

Nonetheless, I still liked the book to some extent, but I didn't find myself completely engrossed in the story until I had read over a third of it.

I'm glad that this wasn't one of the very first books of his that I had read, because otherwise I might not have continued exploring his works.

Perhaps it's just that my expectations were set too high, or maybe this particular book didn't quite hit the mark for me in the same way as some of his others.

Despite the disappointment, I'm still looking forward to seeing what else Patterson has in store for us in the future.

Patterson truly has a remarkable talent for writing page turners.

His unique format, consisting of numerous very short chapters that end in suspense, is an absolute masterstroke. It manages to hold the attention of even the most restless of readers, like myself.

The crimes he描绘 in his stories are often grisly and disturbing, yet they have a strange allure.

Revenge also plays a significant role in the plot, adding an extra layer of complexity and excitement.

But the question that keeps萦绕 in my mind is, why am I so drawn to this genre?

Is it the thrill of the unknown, the anticipation of what will happen next? Or perhaps it's the opportunity to explore the darker side of human nature in a fictional setting.

Whatever the reason, Patterson's books continue to captivate me and keep me coming back for more.

I must admit that I'm truly becoming a massive fan of James Patterson. It doesn't matter whether the books are solely penned by the man himself or co-authored. Either way, I find myself loving every single book of his.

"Judge and Jury" by James Patterson and Andrew Gross is an absolute thriller. It had an incredible amount of tension that kept me firmly on the edge of my seat throughout. The killer in the story, an extremely evil son of a b****, is so terrifying that he would scare the pants off of anyone. Without a doubt, he scared the beejeebers out of me.

The short and sharp chapters in this book make it a very fast read, which I absolutely adored. Oh my gosh, I also loved the entire mob trial plot. There's so much action involving a jurist and an FBI agent. The great courtroom drama and the presence of vile gangsters all combine to make this a truly compelling read.

*Book #39/72 of my 2019 coffee table to-read pile challenge, continued in 2020.

If possible, I would give 3.5 stars.

Andie DeGrasse has been summoned for jury duty. She attempts to avoid being selected. However, she has no such luck as she is chosen and then discovers that it is a trial for the mob boss Dominic Cavello.

Nick Pellisante, an FBI agent, has been pursuing Dominic for years. Finally, he has him in the courtroom to be tried for his crimes.

Dominic is resolute in never allowing his case to be tried in court. He desires to be a free man forever.

The story has all the excellent elements to make a great book. However, the way it is put together is a bit of a letdown for me. Some parts of the story are cheesy, and I suppose I expected more, perhaps more action or suspense - just more of something. It was a JP book, though, and I usually get hooked on these as I keep reading and reading. Such is the case here.

In conclusion, while the story has its good points, it also has some不足之处 that prevent it from being a truly outstanding read. Nevertheless, it still manages to hold the reader's attention and keep them engaged until the end.

**Title: 3.5 Stars - A Decent Rating**

3.5 stars is a rating that lies somewhere between good and average. It indicates that a product, service, or experience has its merits but also has some room for improvement. When something receives a 3.5-star rating, it means that it has managed to meet many of the expectations set for it, but there are still areas where it could do better.

Perhaps the product has a few minor flaws that prevent it from being truly outstanding. Or maybe the service could be more efficient or personalized. However, despite these shortcomings, the overall experience is still enjoyable and worth considering.

A 3.5-star rating can also serve as a motivation for further improvement. It shows that there is potential for growth and that with a little more effort, the product or service could reach a higher level of quality. It encourages the provider to listen to feedback and make the necessary changes to enhance the customer experience.

In conclusion, while 3.5 stars may not be the highest rating, it is still a respectable one that indicates a certain level of quality and value. It gives consumers an idea of what to expect and helps them make informed decisions.

This book is fine if you're in the middle seat of a 4-hour flight with nowhere to go.

However, it has several notable drawbacks. The characters are extremely stereotypical and lack any real depth. They seem to be one-dimensional, without the complexity and nuance that would make them truly engaging.

The plot, too, is mostly predictable. There is little in the way of intrigue or suspense to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. It unfolds in a rather straightforward manner, with few surprises along the way.

Overall, while it may serve as a passable distraction during a long flight, it fails to offer the kind of rich and immersive reading experience that one might hope for from a more substantial work of literature.

James Patterson is a highly renowned author, and this particular book was written in collaboration with Andrew Gross.

It is yet another offering that comes straight out of the so-called "James Patterson book factory." The writing follows the usual formula that Patterson is known for. The story is presented in a fast-paced manner, with short chapters that keep the reader engaged and turning the pages.

In this case, the formula works quite well. The short chapters make it easy for readers to pick up and put down the book, yet still maintain a sense of momentum. The fast pace ensures that there is always something happening, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat.

Overall, it is a decent read that will likely satisfy fans of Patterson's work and those who enjoy a quick, exciting story.

I have delved into a significant number of James Patterson's literary works, and I firmly believed that I had a good understanding of his writing "techniques." However, in "Judge & Jury," he managed to astonish me on two separate occasions.

These events were completely unforeseen and had a connection to small children, which induced a slight sense of unease within me.

True to Patterson's style, the chapters were concise, enabling a rapid reading experience. The emphasis was predominantly on creating thrilling moments rather than building suspense or mystery.

Nevertheless, the book truly achieved its intended purpose. It kept me engaged from start to finish, with its fast-paced narrative and unexpected twists.

Despite the discomfort caused by the involvement of children in certain情节, Patterson's ability to craft a captivating story shone through.

"Judge & Jury" is yet another testament to his prowess as a writer, and I look forward to exploring more of his works in the future.

This was yet another book that had been sitting on my shelves for numerous years.

I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of my BOTM box and was in search of a book that wouldn't consume a great deal of my time to read.

James Patterson is indeed the ideal author for such a situation.

The short cliff-hanging chapters he writes have this uncanny ability to make me keep turning the pages, even though this particular book wasn't among my absolute favorites from him.

I found it to be just okay, nothing特别remarkable or outstanding.

It won't be a book that will leave a lasting impression on me or be etched in my memory for a long time.

Nonetheless, it served its purpose in filling the gap until my BOTM box arrived.

Overall, it was an average read that didn't really wow me but also didn't disappoint me too much.
