This book suddenly appeared on my coffee table. Presumably, it was placed there by someone who is aware that I have a penchant for a good thriller.

I made the decision to take it with me as the book I would read during my last-minute funeral trip to the UK.

Just like many other summer blockbuster thrillers, the main characters in this book lacked depth. And, of course, the attractive one ended up falling for our conquering hero. However, as far as thrillers go, it very much met my requirements. It was a quick read, requiring little cognitive involvement, and it was diverting.

The short chapters were beneficial as they gave me a real sense of accomplishment in my reading.

I registered the book with BookCrossing (915 - 16606206) and released it to its new reader at the Dublin Airport (T2). I truly hope that it is found and logged.

I have not read an excessive number of books, nor can I claim to be an extremely avid reader. However, I have always had a certain inclination towards reading. Watching movies or series has always been an easy and enjoyable pastime for me. But now, I am gradually getting the hang of reading novels. With James Patterson's books, my appetite for reading is growing stronger.

At first, when I began reading this particular book, after a few chapters, I thought everything was okay, but I was starting to feel a bit impatient with it. However, after finishing a few more chapters, it completely blew me away. I was reading at a much faster pace than usual. I experienced a wide range of emotions, including thrill, adrenaline, grief, and adventure. At the end, it left me with a strong desire for more stories like this.

I don't think I had read any James Patterson books until I read The President is Missing that he wrote with Bill Clinton earlier this year. This particular one, however, was written with Andrew Gross. Anyway, that's beside the point.

James Patterson has an amazing way of captivating the reader's attention right from the start and making them hang on for dear life. I should really say that it's the reader who is hanging on for dear life. This book was no different. Patterson has the talent to create believable characters and thrilling circumstances that keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

The book is neatly divided into four parts. At the end of each part, I thought he could have easily ended it there, leaving me with a strong desire for more. But, of course, I couldn't help but keep reading, and to my delight, the intensity of the plot just kept building. I'm extremely happy that I read all four parts. It was a very quick read, which was an added bonus. I especially like the fact that the chapters are short. This is great for me because I like to be able to put a book down at the end of a chapter. Overall, I found this book to be very satisfying all the way around.

This book is both predictable and yet still fun to read. If you are a fan of Patterson's works, you won't be disappointed with this one. It follows a classic cat and mouse pattern, which keeps the reader engaged throughout. The pacing is good, not too slow and not too fast, allowing the reader to fully immerse themselves in the story. However, it is the last chapter that truly stands out. So. Much. CHEESE! How on earth is Patterson an International Best-Selling author??! It truly boggles the mind. How can this book be a bestseller when it is clearly below average?

The plot, to be fair, had the makings of a good thriller. We had a mobster, a hit man, a federal agent, and a hot single mother. It wasn't exactly the recipe for a timeless novel, but it was a decent enough setting for a crime novel. However, the writing was so disappointingly average. There were random exclamations thrown in for no apparent reason, which only served to make the story feel even more amateurish. The dialogue was cheesy and cringe-worthy, and the events that unfolded were just plain ridiculous. It was like watching a poorly made Indian movie where the main character somehow manages to beat up 20 guys single-handedly and then jumps over 3 buses parked right next to each other.

I guess, in the grand scheme of things, it was an OKAY book. But it is a far cry from being a legitimate bestseller. It is truly insulting to see this book anywhere near the bestseller stack.

Denis Lehane, now that man can write Thrillers. His work is in a completely different league.

From the very beginning, this book had me completely hooked. It's truly a captivating read that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout.

In my opinion, it ranks among one of Patterson's better books. The story is engaging, the characters are well-developed, and the plot twists and turns in the most unexpected ways.

I found myself unable to put it down, eager to see what would happen next on each page.

Overall, I would rate this book four stars. It's a great addition to Patterson's body of work and definitely worth reading for any fans of his or anyone looking for a thrilling and entertaining novel.
