There is nothing called a poor country.

There is only a failed system in the management of the country's resources.

A country's prosperity or poverty is not determined by its inherent characteristics but rather by how well its resources are managed and utilized.

A failed management system can lead to misallocation of resources, inefficiency, and waste, which in turn can result in economic stagnation and poverty.

On the other hand, an effective management system can ensure that resources are used optimally, promote economic growth, and improve the living standards of the people.

Therefore, it is essential for countries to focus on improving their management systems to achieve sustainable development and prosperity.

The book is summarized in this sentence: "Advertising (media) in the democratic system is like the heroes in the inclusive state."

Intellectuals of the countries that claim democracy believe that the general public is like a flock of sheep, and they cannot be given the right to vote on their affairs (public interest issues) because they are part of the flock and must be herded and not allowed to rebel to avoid causing the destruction of the country. And the way to do this is through the media.

So there is a small professional class above the general public who are capable of dealing with issues of public opinion, and in turn, they serve a higher and smaller class that has power and wealth.

This means (i.e., the media) has proven its effectiveness in World War I and has since become a means for politicians to create consensus.

As internal problems (economic or social) have intensified and foreign policies have become more extreme, the need to herd the general public's views on these matters has increased, by dispersing their ideas and preventing them from becoming groups or ideological blocs to look at these policies, and creating an external threat that endangers their security.

The media has been very effective in this regard, from promoting vulgarities (movies, etc.), to being selective in covering the news, to demonizing anyone who calls for thinking objectively.

The best evidence of the destructive role of the media is the American war on terror! It is clear that America has used double standards in its dealings with Middle East affairs, in Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, or in Afghanistan in the east and Nicaragua in the west.

Is the ambiguous and conflicting definition of terrorism hidden from the media?

Is America's duality in classifying the actions of its allies - such as Israel - against its enemies hidden from the media, and how some of them have turned from allies to enemies, like Saddam Hussein!

Of course not, but it is deliberately selective.

The book does not offer a solution to this media crisis, nor does it seem that it was intended to do so. But based on some of the ideas in the book, perhaps we can conclude:

- We must admit the existence of an agenda behind the news.

- We must read the views of other parties.

- Seek the real questions.

- Review the results of promises and events.

- Compare positions accurately.

Certainly, it is an excellent book, and one would not expect anything less from a thinker of the first rank like Chomsky.

A good book...

As I was flipping through it, I felt as if I was watching a short Egyptian film from January 25th to June 30th.

And how the thoughts of the crowds could turn and change 180 degrees.

This book seems to capture the essence of that period, presenting a vivid picture of the events and the emotions that accompanied them.

It makes one wonder about the power of collective action and the ability of people to bring about significant change.

Perhaps this is a story that needs to be told and retold, so that we can better understand the past and learn from it for the future.

The author has done a remarkable job of weaving together the various threads of the narrative, creating a work that is both engaging and thought-provoking.

Overall, it is a book that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in history, politics, or social change.

Revenues of the oil and gas sector in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) have been a significant source of income for the local economy. However, the management and distribution of these revenues have been a subject of debate and controversy.

The KRG has been facing several challenges in ensuring the transparency and accountability of its oil and gas revenues. There have been concerns about the lack of proper financial management, corruption, and misappropriation of funds.

To address these issues, the KRG has taken several steps, including the establishment of the Kurdistan Natural Resources Ministry and the Kurdistan Oil and Gas Law. These measures aim to improve the management and governance of the oil and gas sector and ensure that the revenues are used for the benefit of the people of the Kurdistan Region.

However, more needs to be done to ensure the long-term sustainability and development of the oil and gas sector in the Kurdistan Region. This requires greater transparency, accountability, and good governance at all levels of the industry.

I guess Chomsky made a decision that only the most concise knowledge is enough for the confused crowd.

His ideas seem to be presented in a repetitive and scattered manner.

Perhaps he believes that simplicity is the key to reaching a wider audience.

However, this approach may also lead to a lack of depth and comprehensiveness.

Some might argue that a more detailed and organized presentation would be more beneficial.

Nevertheless, Chomsky's work has had a significant impact on various fields.

His views on language, politics, and society have sparked countless discussions and debates.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with him, it cannot be denied that his ideas have challenged the status quo and forced people to think critically.

In conclusion, while Chomsky's style may not be to everyone's liking, his contributions to knowledge and understanding cannot be ignored.

There are various forms of media manipulation that can mislead the public.

For instance, false or exaggerated news stories can be spread to create a certain narrative or influence public opinion.

Pictures and images can also be used to distort the truth.

I have decided to power read in order to succeed in my reading challenge. Lol.

Power reading is a great way to quickly consume a large amount of information. It involves reading at a faster pace while still maintaining comprehension.

I plan to use various techniques to improve my power reading skills. For example, I will preview the text before reading to get an idea of the main points. I will also use my finger or a pen to guide my eyes along the lines of text, which can help me read faster.

Another important aspect of power reading is concentration. I will find a quiet place to read and eliminate all distractions. This will allow me to focus on the text and absorb the information more effectively.

I am confident that by power reading, I will be able to complete my reading challenge and gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Wish me luck!

When I initially embarked on reading this book, I had no inkling of just how old it truly is.

At the very first mention of George Bush requiring a new villain, my immediate thought was, "Oh, this must have been written prior to 9/11." However, as I continued reading and he then referred to Bush and Reagan being on friendly terms with Saddam Hussein, I quickly realized just how far off the mark I was.

In any event, at this juncture, the contents of this book are hardly astonishing. It simply serves to solidify my firmly held belief that regardless of which political party or individual you lend your support to, it is of utmost importance to keep your eyes and ears wide open for propaganda and biased reporting.

One must always be vigilant and discerning in order to separate fact from fiction and form an informed opinion.

Only by doing so can we hope to navigate the complex and often murky waters of politics and current affairs with any degree of clarity and understanding.

This book is divided into two essays.

The second essay, titled "The Journalist from Mars," serves as an outstanding critique of the US's hypocritical stance on terrorism. While the US condemns terrorism, it engages in acts that, by its own definition, can be considered terrorist.

Chomsky, without relying on any moral absolutes other than the principle that if an act is right for us, it should be right for others, and vice versa, reveals numerous instances of the US government's morally unacceptable terrorist acts dating back well before the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

One passage that presented new, yet not entirely unexpected, information to me was the statement that the war on terrorism was not declared on September 11 but rather redeclared using the same rhetoric as the first declaration twenty years earlier.

The Reagan administration, upon taking office, announced that a war on terrorism would be the core of US foreign policy and condemned what the president called the "evil scourge of terrorism." This highlights the long-standing nature of this hypocrisy.

Although not a direct criticism of the book, given the title "Media Control," there was surprisingly little discussion of the actual relationship between the government and the media.

The first essay, "Media Control: The Spectacular Achievements of Propaganda," presents empirical evidence of news reporting that includes criminal actions by foreign governments while omitting crimes committed by the US government.

However, there is no exploration of why media companies prefer to deliver what Chomsky terms "propaganda" rather than the truth.

Considering the quasi-capitalist system in the US and the constitutional protections for freedom of speech and the press, one might expect the US media to be among the most liberal and least "controlled" in the world.

This deficiency is somewhat addressed in the second essay, which offers a positive account of how the media should report on US foreign policy.

My one genuine criticism of the book stems from the beginning of the first essay, where Chomsky contends that the general public is more than capable of managing its own affairs and does not require a specialized class to shape their ideas through propaganda.

He argues that the public is not "too stupid," but fails to ask why the public has been so easily influenced and accepting of what he deems as propaganda.

Certainly, if there were no class of individuals with greater intelligence, such deception would not be possible.

It is only feasible because there exists a group of people, whom Chomsky refers to as the "specialized class," who are more intelligent than the masses and able to control them.

He claims that "We're the best judges of public interest," yet includes in that "we" every person who has been so easily swayed by propaganda.

Surely, by not being persuaded himself while others are, he must acknowledge that some individuals, namely Chomsky himself, possess greater intelligence and better decision-making skills to determine the public interest.
