The story seems rather formulaic and predictable.

The female characters always run off impulsively to save their lovers who, in reality, don't necessarily need their saving. And then, they end up getting captured themselves and, ironically, need to be saved by their lovers.

The portrayal of the bad guy is also quite simple and, to be honest, a bit lame. It lacks depth and complexity, making it easy to anticipate his actions and motives.

However, despite these shortcomings, I am still willing to read the next book in the series and give it another chance. Maybe there will be some unexpected twists and turns that will redeem the overall quality of the story. I hope that the author can break free from the formulaic pattern and bring more freshness and excitement to the narrative.

This is an absolute must-read! After devouring and truly adoring "High Stakes" by Erin McCarthy, I immediately delved into the second installment.

"Bit the Jackpot" is centered around Seamus Fox, the campaign manager for the Vampire Nation President, and Cara Kim, a Vegas stripper who, surprisingly, is still a virgin. Their encounter occurs when Seamus enters a strip club in search of someone else and is completely taken aback by the beautiful dancer behind the screen. She is the best dancer he has ever witnessed, and she is the first woman to capture his attention in nearly 300 years. However, with the campaign just around the corner and the vampire laws he has upheld for so long, everything comes back to haunt him (not literally).

I found this book to be outstanding. It offers a delightful glimpse of the characters from the first book, which is always a treat to see how they are faring. Additionally, we get to learn more about Seamus, who initially came across as a stuck-up, prudish vampire. This book has a perfect blend of everything. There is steamy yet not overdone romance and sexy scenes, thrilling action, a恰到好处 amount of humor, and amazing characters. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who enjoys any of those elements. Now, I am excitedly moving on to the third installment, "Bled Dry".

This book is not nearly as good as her other works.

I have to admit that I'm just not into vampires.

Maybe that's part of the reason why I didn't enjoy this one as much.

The story seemed to lack the depth and complexity that I've come to expect from her.

The characters didn't really grab my attention, and the plot felt a bit flat.

However, I know that there are many people who love vampire stories, and they might have a different opinion.

For me, though, this book just didn't quite hit the mark.

It's a shame, because I usually really like her writing.

But everyone has their own preferences, and unfortunately, this one just didn't align with mine.

Maybe I'll give her next book a try and hope that it'll be more to my taste.

Ok, I really wanted to like this, but unfortunately, my expectations were not met.

I was specifically looking for a cute and quick read, something that would bring a smile to my face and keep me engaged for a short while. However, as I delved into the story, I realized that it didn't quite hit the mark.

There was just something about the characters that felt lacking. They didn't seem to have much depth or personality, and as a result, I had a hard time connecting with them. The overall flatness of the story also didn't help matters. It felt like there was no real tension or conflict to drive the narrative forward, and I found myself getting bored rather quickly.

While I appreciate the effort that went into writing this, it just wasn't the right fit for me. Maybe it would appeal to others who are looking for a more simplistic and light-hearted read, but for me, it left a lot to be desired.

I found this to be a truly quick and enjoyable read.

After having read several novels from other authors recently, it was such a pleasant experience to become completely engrossed in this story.

I absolutely adored Cara. However, I did not have the same level of enthusiasm for the first sex scene involving Cara and Seamus.

What I also really relished about this book was the diverse range of stories that were unfolding within its pages. It was fascinating to see how all these different plotlines interwove and intertwined with each other, ultimately culminating in a truly fabulous book.

The author has done a remarkable job of creating a complex and engaging narrative that keeps the reader hooked from start to finish.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an entertaining and thought-provoking read.

This was a really good follow-up to the first installment in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed both reading and observing the ensemble develop.

The idea of vampires being drawn to the blindingly sunny desert of Las Vegas is hilarious in itself, and McCarthy portrays it in a way that makes you laugh out loud.

However, beneath the surface, there is the sense that these creatures of the night are actually decent people, not monsters.

At least, most of them are.

It's a truly fun read that keeps you engaged from start to finish.

The story unfolds in an interesting way, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you on your toes.

The characters are well-developed and the relationships between them add depth to the plot.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good vampire story with a touch of humor.

It's a great addition to the series and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Seamus has finally managed to secure a night off from the arduous campaign to get his friend reelected. It's a night off that leads him to a strip club, with his inexperienced companion in tow. What could potentially be a fun time quickly turns sour. Unfortunately, Seamus seems to have the worst luck, and he is attacked outside the club. A stripper, who偷偷溜出去想在小巷里秘密目睹这场吸血鬼战斗,却在这个过程中不幸丧生. Seamus, unable to let such a vibrant human being die, makes the decision to change her and brings her to the hotel to care for her as she comes to terms with her new existence.

Cara, on the other hand, would never have willingly chosen the undead life of a vampire. As a virgin stripper, life was already difficult enough. Now, she finds herself dead, held prisoner in this guild cage, and her pets are left to wonder when she will come home to take care of them. To make matters worse, Seamus, her maker, constantly seems to make mistakes and get things wrong.

With the election fast approaching and the rival in the campaign willing to do anything to win, Cara's introduction to life after death is proving to be anything but ordinary.

However, this story is an absolute disappointment. Nothing of real importance occurs. Everything, from the plot to the setting to the characters, feels shallow and underdeveloped. I simply couldn't stand Seamus as a character because he was such an asshole. And Cara was equally annoying with her constant whining. The characters remained confined to the hotel for the majority of the 280 pages, with half of it dedicated to a pointless subplot involving a villain that nobody really cares about.

This author is known for writing the New Orleans immortal series. But what on earth happened here? How can an author who is capable of writing deep and meaningful stories produce this throwaway and useless pile of pages? It's truly baffling.

I have had this book sitting on my shelf since Christmas. Just on a whim, I decided to pick it up and read it as an "in between series" read. And let me tell you, it was absolutely FANTASTIC! It had me laughing out loud throughout the entire thing!

But here's a word of advice when you're reading this. You have to understand that it's not a full-on serious type of book like the BDB or Anita Blake series. So, please don't compare it to them. This is a very light and funny vampire romance, without all the unnecessary drama and hoo har.

I think it was about halfway through the book when I was laughing my heart out, picturing a 400-year-old vampire picking up dog poo on the Vegas strip. That's when I realized that this was such a refreshing break from all the other hardcore romance novels I've been reading. I will definitely be keeping up with this series and can't wait to see what else it has in store!

(I'm a spoiler..Beware)

>>This is the romance of Seamus and Cara.

Guess What? Kelsey is alive! Seamus gave his blood to her.

Ending: Seamus and Cara get married. Seamus resigns from the election and so does Donatelli.

Characters:

Seamus Fox: A vampire almost four hundred years old, he is the campaign manager and best friend of Ethan. Irish by birth, he used to be a soldier. He went to war and was sliced by Ethan (it was war). But then he was turned when Ethan felt guilty. He is drop-dead gorgeous with dark hair, blue eyes, and lots of muscle in all the right places. His firm powerful chest is quite a sight. When he and Ethan had problems with their lovers, they got drunk and went to Donatelli's to attack (which wasn't a good idea). The result ended with them tied and left on the roof to die (but they escaped). He resigned from the election and picked vampire as a theme for his wedding with Cara.

Cara Kim: She works at the strip club as a shadow dancer at night to pay off for vet school. She has full breasts, impressive curves, and strong thighs. Her milky white skin is framed by ebony black hair. She has long cheekbones, a petite bow-shaped mouth with cherry red lips, almond-shaped brown eyes, and a perfectly formed nose. She is a quarter Korean and three fourths - who knows - something European. When sensing Seamus in danger, she went to where he was and was crashed by a SUV (she would have died if not for Seamus turning her). Her virginity was willingly taken away by Seamus. When finding out about the whole drinking-from-another-vampire thing, she got mad at Seamus and moved out to another room.

Gwenna: A vampire, she is Ethan's sister. She was married to Donatelli but divorced him.

Ethan Carrick: A vampire nine hundred years old and married, he is the residing president of the Vampire Nation. He helped Seamus get Cara's two kitties, one chihuahua, and two labs in the cage to bring to the casino. He was Seamus's best man at the wedding.

Alexis Carrick: A turned-vampire, she is Ethan's chosen one and wife. She is a petite woman with blond hair.

Brittany Baldizzi: A half vampire half mortal/an Impure, she is Alexis's little half sister.

Corbin Jean Michel Atelier: A banished research scientist vampire, a Frenchman with a Frenchie accent and gray eyes. He stays at The Ava to be watched by Ethan. He came to Brittany when sensing her misery of the flu and helps Ethan get Ringo out of his drug addict state.

Jodi Madsen: Brittany Baldizzi's aunt, she worked at the strip club behind the scenes choreographing for the girls now that she had retired from dancing herself.

Kelsey: A vampire, she is Ethan's receptionist. She survived 'High Stakes' when Seamus gave some of his blood to her. She is a tall, thin, gorgeous woman with long black hair.

Roberto Donatelli: The opponent of Ethan who is also running for president, he lives at the Venetian. He is trying to get Ethan and whoever else is important killed. He resigned from the election and was sent to vampire court for treason by plotting against the president.

Ringo: A turned-vampire (forced to be Donatelli's worker), he isn't good looking so much as he is striking. He has dark hair. When being ordered to go get William, the result was Will escaping but he giving himself up to Ethan (that's what Kelsey wanted him to do).

Smith: A vampire, he is one of Donatelli's workers. He is the one who drained Kelsey in the last book and the one who is responsible for Alexis almost dying in the last book.

Williams: A vampire, an American and stupid, he is one of Donatelli's workers. He was trying to kill Cara when he was attacked by one of the guards and taken to Ethan.

Marie: Seamus's ex, she had been a stunning petite French beauty. She was the reason Seamus lived the last two-hundred years in enforced solitude (she almost ruined him). She betrayed Seamus by sending him to the guillotine and the only reason he's still alive is that the blade went through his neck only half-way and the guards thought he was dead so they threw him on a pile full of corpses. She is dead.

Dawn: One of Cara's coworkers, an attractive woman, lush but still thin. She was tricked by Ringo to get info about Cara then cheated on Bryan and was drained of too much blood.

Bryan: Dawn's bouncer boyfriend, a 250-pound bouncer with more tattoos than fingers.

Button: One of Cara's labs.

Mr. Spock: Cara's Chihuahua.

Fritz: One of Cara's labs.

Satan: Cara's cat.

I think there's one more pet - a cat - but I don't know what the name is.

This review is quite interesting to read.

It starts by saying that the book is funny, but for the reviewer, it leans a bit too much towards chicklit.

The second book, according to the review, is better written than the first one.

However, it also mentions that if you are a fan of series like Sookie Stackhouse or Vampire Academy, then this book might not be to your taste.

It seems that the reviewer has a specific preference when it comes to vampire-related books and this one doesn't quite meet that standard.

Overall, it gives a good sense of the reviewer's thoughts and opinions on the book, while also providing some context for readers who might be considering picking it up.

It's a concise and honest review that can help others make an informed decision about whether or not to read the book.
