Another great addition to the Vegas Vampires series!

I picked up the first book in the series mainly because the bright cover caught my eye. Also, I'm always on the lookout for a good vampire series. I wasn't certain what to anticipate since a 'pretty cover' doesn't necessarily mean a great book. However, after finishing and enjoying High Stakes, I couldn't wait to read Bit the Jackpot, the second installment in the series.

This time, the story has a slightly different focus as it centers around Seamus (a secondary character in High Stakes) and his new "friend" Cara. We still get to check in with Alexis and Ethan, the central couple from the first book, but they are now supporting characters in Seamus' story. I wasn't sure if I would like these new characters as much, but expanding to include a variety of characters works well for this series. It keeps things fresh by creating new stories and makes the Vegas Vampire world more interesting as it is populated with a diverse range of fully developed characters.

Bit the Jackpot is a fun and quick read with likable characters, plenty of laughs, and a touch of mystery. The story isn't overly deep, but if you enjoy vampires, mystery, and romance with the occasional steamy scene, then this series might be right up your alley.

This part of the series I hadn't read before.

Interestingly, this book actually takes a bit of a distance from the other books in this series. It is set in the same place, Las Vegas. The characters from the other books do make appearances in this book, but this one is more focused on Seamus and Cara.

The book is written in a modern style and is very easy to read.

Seamus meets Cara and discovers that he can't manipulate her thoughts. Sadly, she dies that evening because of him. As a result, he decides to turn her into a vampire. She now has to get used to this new state of being.

Even more so because of this, Seamus wants to take care of her. However, Cara doesn't like that. She firmly believes that she can take care of herself.

It will be interesting to see how their relationship develops as the story progresses.
