Stephanie Plum #11

Eleven on Top

Stephanie Plum is thinking her career as a fugitive apprehension agent has run its course. She's been shot at, spat at, cussed at, fire-bombed, mooned, and attacked by dogs. Stephanie thinks it's time for a change. So she quits. She wants something safe and normal. But the kind of trouble she had at the bail bonds office can't compare to the kind of trouble she finds herself facing now...

Stephanie is stalked by a maniac returned from the grave for the sole purpose of putting her into a burial plot of her own. He's killed before, and he'll kill again if given the chance. Caught between staying far away from the bounty hunter business and staying alive, Stephanie reexamines her life and the possibility that being a bounty hunter is the solution rather than the problem. After disturbingly brief careers at the button factory, Kan Klean Dry Cleaners, and Cluck-in-a-Bucket, Stephanie takes an office position in security, working for Ranger, the sexiest, baddest bounty hunter and businessman on two continents. Tempers and temperatures rise as competition ratchets up between the two men in her life -- her on-again, off-again boyfriend, tough Trenton cop Joe Morelli, and her boss, Ranger. Can Stephanie Plum take the heat? Can you?

The first half of the game really had me feeling worried.

The team seemed to be struggling and not performing up to their potential.

I was starting to wonder if they were going to be able to turn things around.

However, in the second half, Ranger completely made up for it!

They came out with a newfound energy and determination.

Ranger was making great plays and scoring crucial points.

It was like a whole different team took the field.

Their efforts paid off and they were able to secure a victory.

I'm so glad I stuck around to watch the second half and see Ranger's amazing comeback.

It was a truly exciting game and a great display of teamwork and perseverance.

Okay, so I made a promise to myself that this had to be the last one for a while. And let me tell you, it was an amazing one to end on. I got to witness Plum's attempt to leave the bounty-hunter business behind, and of course, it was just a一连串 glorious的灾难. One after another, it was like a never-ending comedy of errors.

I still get a bit mad about her whole "He's sexy, oh no he's sexy" thing. I understand that it's a tension-building love triangle situation. But I guess I just don't really get into those when the one stuck in the middle stays (mostly) in a relationship. I mean, you're in a relationship, you chose to be in it and you do seem to enjoy it. So, like, stop letting the other guy kiss you already!

In spite of that, though, I truly love everybody in these books. And I love following them around, and for me, this book was a lot more about just following everyone around and "hanging out with them" than about the mystery plot. Which is actually really cool.

I haven't been mentioning the mystery plot of each one as I've gone along, but they're almost always mapped out well, with some really cool red herrings. I've managed to figure out some things, but it doesn't make me hate the plot or anything when I do. I could do without Evanovich's tendency to have the "bad guy" sum up all his motives and actions at the end of the book, when Plum's "getting him to talk." You know what I mean? But it hasn't been too particularly irritating either, probably because I tend to kind of skip over those paragraphs of dialogue.

Heh.

Anyway, definitely there are problems with the books, but they are still extremely entertaining. And, as I said, this was a good one to stop on. But here's the deal. There's a preview of the next book at the end, in the form of that book's first chapter. And when I got to the end of that preview, I had to throw the book out in the yard. Somehow, I felt that doing that would keep me from going back on my promise to stop on Eleven on Top, at least for now. Because, dude. DOOOD.

(When it started to sprinkle outside, I hurried to rescue the book. It's fine.)

Stephanie goes through jobs like crazy in this one. It's truly remarkable how quickly she seems to cycle through different employment opportunities.

I can really relate to her situation because I've been there and done that myself. I know what it's like to constantly be on the hunt for a new job, to start fresh in a new work environment, and to face the challenges that come with each new position.

Despite the chaos and uncertainty that often accompanies job-hopping, there's something undeniably funny about Stephanie's experiences. Maybe it's the way she approaches each new job with a sense of determination and optimism, or maybe it's the humorous situations that seem to always find her.

Whatever the reason, I always find myself laughing along with her as she navigates the world of work. It's a reminder that even in the midst of chaos and change, there's always room for a little bit of humor and lightheartedness. lol.

This may have been one of the weakest Plum books.

The reason for this assessment is based solely on the fact that Stephanie, the main character, seems to be getting dumber as time goes on.

Her actions and decisions throughout the story lack the intelligence and wit that were once her trademarks.

Instead of using her skills and resources to solve problems, she often makes impulsive and ill-advised choices that only serve to make matters worse.

This decline in her character's intelligence is a major drawback of the book and detracts from the overall enjoyment of the reading experience.

It is disappointing to see a once-strong and capable character devolve into someone who seems almost clueless at times.

Perhaps the author should consider重新塑造Stephanie's character in future installments to bring back some of the charm and intelligence that made the earlier Plum books so popular.

Plum is always interesting to say the least!

She has a unique charm that draws people to her. Whether it's her infectious laughter or her quick wit, there's always something about Plum that makes her stand out in a crowd.

Her interests are diverse, ranging from art and literature to sports and travel. She is constantly exploring new things and expanding her horizons, which makes her conversations with others always engaging and full of new perspectives.

Plum also has a big heart and is always willing to help those in need. She volunteers at local charities and is actively involved in community service, making a positive impact on the lives of those around her.

In conclusion, Plum is a truly remarkable person whose interesting personality, diverse interests, and kind heart make her a joy to be around.

Stephanie has truly hit rock bottom. Well, at least harder times than she's accustomed to. Reaching a breaking point, she quits her job as a bond enforcement officer and embarks on exploring other career options, much to her annoyance and my personal entertainment. Life seems to continuously deal Stephanie a rough hand, and while it may not be entirely realistic, it's no less charming or humorous.

Anyone who has read a sufficient number of Plum novels to reach "Eleven On Top" is aware that these books follow a formula. Stephanie blows up one or two cars, fails to apprehend someone due to blatant stupidity, Grandma Mazur attempts to lift a casket, Ranger repeatedly says "Babe", Lula eats while wearing overly tight spandex, and so on. I suppose for some, reading the same tried and true scenarios might become repetitive, but for me, it's like slipping into my well-worn and beloved pajamas. They may be old, but I love them just the way they are.

Regarding the much-debated topic of Ranger vs. Morelli, I'm grateful that Stephanie hasn't made a choice. I love them both. Asking me to choose between Morelli and Ranger is like asking me if I want a cheeseburger or Mexican food for dinner, or java chip frappuccino ice cream or chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I'm simply not capable of making these kinds of decisions! Just thinking about it makes my eye twitch...

As always, the highlights include:

1. Stephanie whacks a mole off Mama Macaroni's face.

2. Stephanie clucks in Cluck in a Bucket.

3. Grandma Mazur vs. Grandma Bella, a literal smackdown.

4. Joe gets run over, lol.

5. The glories of going commando.

6. The enticements of the one-eyed snake, wondering which leg-hole it will come out of next.

7. Lula gets handcuffed, naked, while making an apprehension, go figure.

8. Stephanie gives up sugar, oh the horror!

Stephanie Plum novels are always a great choice. You can never go wrong with them.

There are so many exciting elements in this series. For example, is Spiro really back from the dead? It's a mystery that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

And then there are all those exploding cars. What's the deal with that? It adds a thrilling and action-packed dimension to the story.

But perhaps the most talked-about aspect is Steph's love triangle with Morelli and Ranger. Let's be real, everyone wants to know who she's going to end up with. Is it the charming and reliable Morelli or the mysterious and dangerous Ranger?

The Stephanie Plum books are filled with humor, mystery, and romance, making them a must-read for any fan of the genre.
