She is indeed a very good writer. Her words have the power to vividly描绘 the scenes and emotions. However, as time went by, I gradually grew tired of the day by day recounting of the campaign.

It seemed that every time I picked up her work, it was always about the same campaign, with the same details and the same narrative style.

I longed for some variety, some new perspectives, some fresh ideas.

I understand that the campaign is an important topic for her, but I also hope that she can explore other aspects of life and share more diverse stories with us.

Maybe she could try writing about different experiences, different cultures, or different emotions.

In this way, her works would be more interesting and engaging, and would attract a wider range of readers.

Connie is an outstanding writer.

This book truly showcases the human aspect of campaigning while striving to maintain one's sanity.

My husband was on our local School Board, and I am well aware of how unpleasant and exhausting politics can be, even in a town of just 35,000 people!

Connie vividly describes her experiences as the wife of a candidate for the US Senate, making you feel as if you are right there in the car with her.

It is an excellent read for any spouse who finds themselves in the "lovely wife" role, regardless of the reason, whether it's related to politics or not.

You will gain valuable insights into the challenges and joys that come with being part of a political campaign from the perspective of a spouse.

Connie's writing is engaging and relatable, making this book a must-read for anyone interested in the inner workings of a political campaign and the role of the candidate's spouse.

I truly enjoyed this to an extremely high degree. It is a pity that there are not sufficient women of my age who possess intelligence, a sense of humor, success, and are also proud to identify as feminists. Therefore, it is truly wonderful to come across an example of someone from the previous generation who embodies all these qualities.

Moreover, this has an abundance of that emotional tug that political campaigns have on me. It has made me seriously consider that if Obama secures the nomination, I would very much like to dedicate the next summer to working for his campaign. I firmly believe that his policies and vision have the potential to bring about positive change not only for our country but also for the world at large. Working for his campaign would give me the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way and be a part of something truly significant.

I am excited about the possibility and look forward to seeing how things unfold.

A Candid and Intriguing Glimpse into Sherrod Brown's 2006 Senate Race

In this captivating piece, we are given a unique perspective on Sherrod Brown's 2006 Senate race through the eyes of his wife, Connie Schultz, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer. It is truly a fascinating read. I have always adored Schultz's work, and this account is no exception. It offers a detailed and personal look at the campaign, filled with interesting anecdotes and insights.

Now, I eagerly anticipate a sequel. I am particularly curious about how campaigns have evolved for them since then, especially as Brown gears up to run again in 2018 and perhaps even in 2020. The relationship between Schultz and Brown is both impressive and relatable, making them a captivating pair to follow. I can't wait to see what the future holds for them and how their story continues to unfold.

Chronicling the 2006 U.S. Senate race of her husband, Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), this memoir by Pulitzer Prize-winner Connie Schultz is a truly engaging and thought-provoking read.

It is sweet in many ways, as Schultz shares an abundance of touching details and heartwarming stories from both their personal lives and the campaign itself. These anecdotes give readers a unique and intimate look into the couple's journey and the people they met along the way.

However, it is also bitter, especially when we look back 10 years later and see how the Republican party has contributed to the mess we now call 2017. There are indeed villains in this book who continue to have a negative impact on our society today.

Just comparing Brown's ethical behavior, such as not using government planes for private trips and refusing to take the Congressional health care plan until all Americans had access to health care (and hopefully still will), to the depravity and callousness of the current administration is truly depressing.

We desperately need more people like Sherrod Brown in government, people who are committed to doing what is right for the country and its citizens.

As a native Ohioan, it was particularly enjoyable for me to read about the towns the campaign visited. Most of these places are familiar to me, and it was interesting to see how Brown and Schultz stumped across the state's 88 counties.

A fun trivia fact: In 8th grade, students in Ohio must learn the names and locations of all 88 counties. I managed to avoid that drill by moving to Indiana after 7th grade. :)

A brilliant political memoir indeed, seen from the unique vantage point of the adoring wife who stands firmly behind and to the left. However, this adoring wife is no ordinary woman. She is, in fact, a prize-winning and highly opinionated journalist. Schulz's work is not only a great read that keeps you engaged from start to finish. It also masterfully captures that crucial moment when 'Hope' emerged as a winning theme for the democrats.

Moreover, [spoiler alert] Schulz details how Sherrod Brown's success in Ohio served as a significant foreshadowing of the strategy that Obama would employ just two years later. This connection between Brown's victory and Obama's subsequent approach provides valuable insights into the inner workings of the democratic political machine. Schulz's ability to weave together personal and political narratives makes this memoir a must-read for anyone interested in politics, journalism, or the intersection of the two.

Her unique perspective as both a wife and a journalist adds depth and authenticity to the story, making it a truly remarkable piece of work.

DNF.

I will never be in the mood to read about an Ohio senatorial election.

It seems that such a topic holds no interest for me whatsoever. The thought of delving into the details and nuances of an Ohio senatorial race simply does not appeal.

Perhaps it's because I have other priorities or because the subject matter doesn't resonate with my personal concerns.

Whatever the reason, I find myself completely disinterested in reading about this particular election.

There are countless other things that capture my attention and curiosity, and I would much rather focus on those than on an Ohio senatorial election.

Maybe in the future, my perspective will change, but for now, I will continue to avoid reading about this topic.

I truly adored this book. It was as if I were a girlfriend, delving into the private diary of my dearest friend.

The conversational tone employed throughout the book made me feel an immediate sense of welcome into her life. It was as if she was sitting right beside me, sharing her thoughts, feelings, and experiences in the most intimate and natural way.

Every page was filled with a warmth and authenticity that drew me in and made me eager to discover what would come next. I found myself completely immersed in her world, empathizing with her joys and sorrows, and feeling a deep connection to her as a person.

This book was not just a collection of words on a page; it was a window into the soul of the author, and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to peer through that window and get to know her on such a personal level.

Connie Schultz is truly a delight.

I thoroughly relished walking through her life as she and her new husband embarked on the journey of marriage, dealt with blended families, and managed dual careers while he was tirelessly campaigning for the United States Senate. Connie, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, is an outstanding writer and storyteller. She vividly brought her experiences to life.

I deeply appreciated her candor and humanity when discussing the difficult aspects, the real-life issues they confronted, and how they approached everything while closely adhering to their principles. I simply can't fathom how a new marriage, let alone a second one, could endure such a challenging period. However, I can also understand how the experience strengthened their bond.

I really like Connie, and as a result, I also liked her husband (whose book I've also read and enjoyed).

Also, I couldn't help but think that a political spouse like Connie, who herself faced a great deal of skepticism and derision for having her own name and career, likely had the path somewhat paved by Hillary Rodham Clinton. Nevertheless, I was still saddened to witness the reduction of such an accomplished woman to the label of "lovely wife." And I firmly believe that Eleanor Roosevelt, herself a columnist, would have adored Connie!

I laughed.

I cried.

These emotions that have surged through me have led to a profound decision. I have determined that I must write a memoir.

Laughter has been my companion in the midst of joyous moments, those times when life seemed to be painted in the brightest of colors. It has been a release, a way to express the pure happiness that filled my heart.

But then there were also the tears. The moments of sadness, of loss, of heartbreak. Those tears that streamed down my face, carrying with them all the pain and sorrow that I had endured.

And now, as I look back on these experiences, I realize that they have shaped me into the person I am today. They are a part of my story, a story that I feel compelled to share.

Writing a memoir will allow me to document these memories, to preserve them for myself and for others. It will be a journey of self-discovery, a chance to explore the depths of my emotions and to make sense of the events that have unfolded in my life.

I am excited about this new adventure, and I look forward to the process of writing and sharing my memoir with the world.

This remarkable book has truly had a profound impact on me. It has helped me remember that in the face of challenges and uncertainties, there is still hope. Connie has masterfully crafted a candid and wonderful picture of her husband and the arduous campaign that ultimately led to him becoming the senator for the state of Ohio.

I have vivid memories of growing up and reading her column in the local paper in Cleveland. Her words always had a way of captivating me and making me feel connected to the community. It is truly a shame that it took me this long to finally read one of her books.

Now that I have, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and admiration for Connie's storytelling ability. Her book not only provides an inside look at the political process but also offers valuable insights into the human spirit and the power of perseverance. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an inspiring and thought-provoking read.
