Ever read a book you loved and hated at the same time? Well, I think I've come across a whole series that just might be my love/hate relationship this year. I love the stories. I've come to like FBI agent Noah Bishop a lot. I like that he has a gift, and I like that it is close to a psychic ability.

What I don't like is that this second book has made me wonder why we are only getting glimpses of agent Bishop when this series is supposed to be about him. I don't like that they call his ability, the bullshit detector. I don't like that we aren't really getting to know agent Bishop on a personal level.

The ending has intrigued me enough to pick up the next book, because Bishop has been told that he will find evil on his next case, and also find what he has been looking for, to be very careful. Will we finally get to know some of his own history? Gee, hope I hope so!

Not my cup of tea. Never really got into it. I am not a fan of Paranormal or Psychological novels. I didn't like Gone Girl or Girl on a Train, but least I finished this one!

Was sitting at 4 stars until that twist at the end.
I loved the thriller romance of this one, but the romance element just didn’t work for me the way I wanted it to. The mystery was great, but that final twist bothered me a bit, however I definitely didn’t see it coming.
I’ll keep reading the series cause it’s fun and easy, but it’s not too notch

I don't know why it has taken me so long to read a Kay Hooper book but OMG, am I glad I did!!! This book takes you down an adventurous path that you have no way of determining what is around the next bend. Kane and Faith are a couple that blow your mind. For a wonderful, intriguing adventure you must read this trilogy of Noah Bishop books.

This book was no where near as good as the 1st in the series. I didn't feel a connection with the main characters at all, plus there was hardly any background info on the bad guys either. Am I the only one who thought the ending was totally weird? I'm probably being generous with 3 stars.

I liked this book, though not as much as I liked the book before it, Stealing Shadows. The mystery clung to this until the very end. While you're given enough clues that you might be able to figure it out, it's not easy. You fall in love with the characters and struggle with them through grief. A great story.

Hated the ending

I was intrigued throughout the book. Its fast paced, interesting, different, etc. I didn't like where it ended up and it ruined the book for me. It's well written, so can't seem to rate lower than a three, but could have been a four at least. I'm not gonna post spoilers other than we see VERY little of Bishop in this book. O want to know more about him, but it doesn't bug me as much as some readers. I just hope he has a storyline soon. This book is not one I'd recommend if new to this author.

I will start this book by stating that I can't decide if I really like this book, or really dislike it.

The story started off with heavy action, with Faith waking up in the hospital with no memory of how she got there, and no recollection of anything that happened afterwards. Her entire history is missing (total memory loss aka Global Amnesia is very rare, but does happen), and Faith cannot remember events, dates, or people unless reintroduced to them, which could be something of a drawback if there are people after you, which, this being a mystery, there are.

At some point Noah Bishop from the Special Crimes Unit appears, as he has a connection to other characters, and tries to help. Faith has some sort of esp (extrasensory perception), and it appears that her missing friend who visited in the hospital did also. Bishop investigates that sort of power (esp).

Dinah is a reporter investigating a major political and criminal story, and was very close to Faith, visiting often - but now she's missing. The story winds around, trying to determine what happened to Dinah, hampered by Faith's loss of memory and the distrust of the major characters (Dinah's fiance and his friend Bishop).

The story winds and twists, allowing that just about any character could be "the bad guy", although since the series is based around Bishop, I excluded him from the suspect list. I included all the police, the other FBI (Bishop is FBI) and neighbors, the grocery guy, the repairmen and just about anyone else.

Unfortunately things don't work out as this reader would have liked, with the final action series downgrading the book from a 5.

I loved the ins and outs, the suspense, the character building, the guilty romance. But - it just fell flat for me. As someone else said, this lackluster ending downgraded the overall rating. It was still good, but could have been great. So - I still liked it, just not the conclusion.
