I loved every delicious word. A real treat.

En este libro Isabel Allende se sintió cercana, como estar leyendo a una abuela, pero no en el sentido “abuelita tierna que cocina rico y teje buzos”, sino en el sentido de “abuela no se habla de cuerpos, esas cosas ya no se dicen, no es gracioso”, pero que al final del día querés igual aunque tenga comentarios cuestionables porque es tu abuela y es increíble, como Isabel Allende.

Estaba ansiosa por leer este libro, xq era básicamente una continuación de Paula. Era el libro del "después"; y simplemente quería saber como había hecho para recuperarse de la inmensa pérdida de su hija. Y no es q el libro no sea bueno. Está escrito con la misma prosa cuidada de Isabel, q te mete en la narrativa aunq no quieras. Solo q no era lo q yo esperaba. Y q esperaba? Algo más del estilo de "Paula", como un viaje de introspección personal hacia la curación. Q encontré? Un libro de recetas de cocina y consejos para mejorar las relaciones de pareja. Entiendo q la intención pudo haber sido celebrar la vida, y nada mejor para hacer eso q hablar de comida y de sexo, peeeero, las recetas no me han parecido particularmente inspiradoras ni a nivel sexual ni a nivel gastronómico; y aunq no es el único libro de esta autora con el q me he llevado un fiasco, definitivamente este ha sido el fiasco más importante.

Lo que nos cuenta. El libro Afrodita (publicación original: 1997), con el subtítulo Cuentos, recetas y otros afrodisiacos, es un trabajo ilustrado que mezcla poesía, anécdotas, crónica, fantasía, relatos, recetas, ensayo, biografía y varias cosas más para aproximarse al disfrute de los sentidos y, en especial, al sexo y la comida de distintas maneras.

Amazing, edible, sensual, sexy. Yum.

El libro inicia con un relato de recuerdos y experiencias de comida y amor de nuestra querida autora, cuenta también con recetas, relacionadas con amor y afrodisiaco...pero es algo así como el corazón de un hombre se gana por el estómago

This is, I am afraid, a rather weak potboiler that is not a little dull where it is not trivial but it might appeal as light reading to women who like their eroticism to be naughty but nice and linked to a guilty fondness for food despite its effects on their bodies.

You can read it for the recipes, most of which are fairly conventional although there is a nice homely Hispanic slant to them, or for the rather pedestrian history of the erotic if you are nervous of stronger fare. The book is going to be a matter of taste in all meanings of that phrase.

This is a very seductive book. As a combintion of cook book, food history book, and dictionary of adphrodisiacs; this book serves as a very informative and useful tool in many areas of our lives ( if you catch my drift). It is also very beautifully written and has lovely artwork within it. I have used this book as research for school as well as for my personal ventures and have never regretted purchasing it. If the sensualty of food is important to your pallete then this book is a must.

Honestamente... Terminé este libro porque Isabel Allende es mi escritora favorita y hace un tiempo me propuse leer todas sus obras. Esa fue mi única motivación.

Es un libro de recetas (con muy pocos cuentos)... Aprecié algunos de los cuentos, considerando que otros eran muy repetitivos de sus obras anteriores.

Espero, por mi amor a Isabel, no tener que pasar por otro libro de estilo libre como este (o como el Juego de Ripper). Lo que me hizo enamorarme de ella fue el realismo mágico que siento es su fuerte al escribir.

تسرد إيزابيل في هذا الكتاب مجموعة من المقالات والوصفات وذكر لأطعمة وتوابل أفروديتية (منشطة جنسيا) مع محاولة منها لتوضيح الخصائص التي من أجلها اعتُبر هذا أو ذاك الشيء أفروديتيا -مع تحفظ وتأكيد الكاتبة على أن أفضل مثير للشهوة الجنسية هو الحب-.

للوهلة الأولى ستعتقد أن الكتاب هذا -الذي يمتلئ بشكل واضح بنكهة إيزابيل من الواقعية السحرية والوصف الخلاب- يقتصر على هذا المضمون، لكنه يتجاوز أكثر من ذلك فهو استكشاف للفلسفة والعلاقة بين الطعام والجنس والحب, ومشاركة مفتوحة صريحة من امرأة مليئة بالعاطفة. هو أقرب إلى كتالوج لمنشطات جنسية، تقاليد قديمة، نصائح, وصفات بعض الأكلات الأفروديتية، قصائد، لوحات، حكايات شخصية، وسرد لقصص الحب والجنس، الشخصية أو المأخوذة من الكم الهائل من الأبحاث التي أجرتها, في محاولة لاستكشاف الروابط القديمة بين الطعام والشهوانية, وبين اللمس والذوق. تستخدم خلال ذلك اللغة كإحساس آخر ، إذ يمكنك أن تشعر وتتذوق كتبها كما يمكنك قراءتها, لتجعلك تشعر بالجوع مع كل صفحة تلتهمها. من أفضل الأجزاء في هذا الكتاب هو إدراج الرسوم التوضيحية واللوحات الرائعة التي ستخطفك في كل مكان.


كتاب لذيذ وبلا شك ستحب الطريقة التي تحدثك بها كصديق لها وتدردش معك وسط إعطاءك وصفاتها وسرد القصص عليك. لتجلب لك الأمل، أنه لا يوجد عمر للحب. فإذا كنت تحب القراءة في أدب الطعام والجنس. أو حتى لو لم تكن لديك الرغبة المسبقة في ذلك, هذا الكتاب سوف يسعدك ويلمسك ويجعل قلبك ينتفخ مثل البندق ولن تفشل إيزابيل في تركك جائعًا للغاية بعده.

A great book to pick up here and there, and wonderful recipes in the last half.

Her writing flows beautifully and her accent is easy to hear in one’s mind as the reader makes their way through the book. The story telling really pulls the reader in and paints stunning imagery, produces laughs and invigorates the senses.

The only issue I truly had with the book were lifestyle differences - even if one has butchered or hunted their own meat, the preparation and consumption can remain sultry. She speaks in opposition of this pretty fervently. Otherwise, five stars.
