Half-Blood Vampires #2

We only accept certain people in my sorority-no fullblooded vampires allowed.

Psi Phi is just like any sorority on campus-except for the part about them being half-blood vampires. Colby Blanchard emancipated her fellow halfbloods and laid the smackdown for some wayneeded new laws, but things still aren't good. The Vampire Tribunal is dumping the newest pledges on her lawn...bound and gagged. And Thomas, her hunky vampire investigator boyfriend, is being a little too much of a gentleman.

Things aren't exactly cushy for the ladies at the Psi Phi house. One sister wants to return to her vegan lifestyle-while another is constantly poised for a fistfight. And royal bloodsucker Ileana Romanov thinks everyone is her personal butler. And to top it off, leaked info on the sisters' whereabouts is bringing on some ugly, unexpected attacks. Either someone in the Tribunal wants them dead, orthere's a spy in the house, watching them day and night. Or if it's a full-blood, just night.

Colby starts college and this should be interesting.....This is really cute series.I like how Colby is innocent yet so quick to pick up on the things she nneds to learn.Being the Protector has become more than she bargained for.And it is neat how everyone cant help but like her yet she always seems to be in the mists of trouble.

The Half-Blood Vampire series are great for something light and fun. All of the books go by quickly so it’s very easy to read them all in a very short time span. They’re funny and engaging; however, a bit unrealistic especially after Colby becomes a vampire. The fact that her family and “best” friend, Piper, didn’t seem fazed by this fact is just absurd.

Colby is the main character in this series and she gets assaulted by this vampire, gets thrown off this ravine and becomes a vampire. The first thing she does? Goes straight home and accidentally scares her mom which made her cut herself with a knife at the time and then Colby proceeds to lick/suck the blood from her mom. What did her mom do? Seem a bit dazed but accepting of the fact. WHAT. I’m pretty sure if I was the mom, I would not be so calm about the fact that my daughter just sucked my blood. And not only that, her father then made her a specific fang headgear because her canines were taken out for braces when she was younger and therefore she had no canines and therefore, no fangs. Two problems with this. One, a lot of my friends had gotten braces when they were younger and none of them had ever gotten their canines removed – that is just so bizarre. Granted, I am not an orthodontist nor am I an expert in this field but regardless, that’s a tad strange. Second, how can she even walk around with that headgear? She would have to carry it with her just so she can eat. She’s clearly not going to wear it on a daily basis because imagine, a fang headgear would certainly turn some heads. This series is great and it’s funny but there are lot of small things that either don’t make sense, seem off or just plain ridiculous.

Nonetheless, Colby did grow up a lot in this series. She went from a somewhat shallow typical cheerleader to becoming the Protector of other half-bloods and she certainly grew into that role. There were definitely tons of obstacles in her path but she managed to overcome them with her own charm and wit. She was easy to like but to me, she was also a little slow. A lot of antagonists in the books were quite obvious from the beginning and even one of her sorority girls was able to pick it up from the get-go but not Colby. In fact, she was totally in the dark and didn’t realize anything until the end. I guess, she is still the stereotypical “blond chick”.

Piper, Colby’s best friend, was not even her friend in the beginning of the first book. They were neighbors and were friends when they were younger but slowly grew apart as they grew up and all of a sudden, smack, they’re best friends. I mean, I loved Piper – she was great and added a certain spice and attitude to the series but still, why and how did they become friends all of a sudden? It just seemed incredibly random to me. Yet, she was the one who stuck by Colby through thick and thin and overcame her tendency to hide in the face of danger to protect Colby when it counted.

Overall, this series was decent – great for a quick laugh and certainly entertaining. Serena definitely brought an interesting twist of half-vampires. There is also a novella after the third book but I doubt I will go in search for it. I would recommend this book more for the MG crowd or the younger YA group.

First you spend all of book 1 complaining about it, then most of this book you were going against everything he told you and left him standard in another state! And for some reason he still wants to have sex with you and that's how you freaking act afterwards. Bitch get the freak out! You are a freaking child if you want to act like this. Ugh.

Ok, this book was not as exciting as the first, but nonetheless it was a good read. Colby is now in charge of the new Psi Phi Sorority house that houses half-bloods. She meets and greets all the new girls when all of the suddend their is murder in the house. Someone on the inside is a spy.

The book was well written and the plot was good. There was a lot od drama between Colby and Thomas. There was also a lot of insight on their relationship. Through out the whole book Colby and Thomas did nothing but fight. But to be frank, I think it was all Colby's fault not Thomas. But of course she blamed it all on Thomas. Colby in this book was just to fickle. She changed her mind constantly, her emotions were cold and then hot. She really needed to get a hold of herself. But I can see she could be stressed out due to the fact that now she is the most hated and unwanted thing in the vampire world.

I was also angry at Colby because she seemed to want to do everything on her own. While I was glad that she was independent, she did have help. But noooo, she wanted to do it all on her won just causing more problems. That was really starting to annoy me. There was a sexual scene in the book, nothing to graphic, just enough to know what is going on

This one was definitely better than the last one which kinda makes me sad that neither I nor my libraries have a copy of the third book. It'd be nice to find out if it gets even better.

I think my status updates show my reactions to this book better than I could if I tried to explain it all.

n  16%n "I may possibly take back anything negative I said about Colby if this Ileana Romanov chick doesn't GTFO herself."

n  30%n "I'm going to have to agree with Piper on this one... ouch."

n  46%n "Ugh. Bitch. I don't care if you're mad that your boyfriend has your best interests at heart. You don't kiss someone else. Ughhhh."

n  58%n "You win. Wasn't expecting that."

n  66%n "If you'd just shut your gob you'd get that action you want so bad."

All in all, it was much better. I wasn't completely expecting the ending, and I would even recommend this book to people older than fourteen. Colby wasn't as immature in this book, though she still makes me want to tear my hair out most of the time. I was glad to know that she is able to stick up for herself. Slightly annoyed that she kept complaining about not getting any action when she was the reason for that. That big mouth of hers is going to get her into some serious trouble one day.

I won this book in a giveaway and I would have to say it is one of the best vampire books I have ever read! The story was new and refreshing and centered around a half-blood named Colby. Colby goes to college, where she ends up protecting a group of half-bloods. One of these half-bloods is murdered in the sorority house and an entire chain of events unfolds. Of course, you will have to read the book to find out what happens next.

Colby is a half vampire, she is not supposed to be alive, but Colby told the Vampire Tribunal that she deserves equal rights like full blood vampires. In the sorority house run by Colby, half bloods taste freedom for the first time in their lives. The teens that live with her, for instance one is a Romany Princess who wants to go back to being a vegan in spite of needing blood to survive. When trouble occurs, she does not turn to her boyfriend Thomas for help, Colby fights them off herself.
