The final book of this series killed my love for this series. There are many endings of shows and books that have endings reviled by fans (Sopranos finale, Game of Thrones finale, etc.), but I can never really hate a finale of anything quite like this series. Until this book came out, I had reread every book in the series multiple times. Even in life, I had never been disappointed by any sort of ending for anything really. This book was unfortunately the first book that made me go "huh, some media can be utter trash".

While my remembrance of what actually happened in terms of plot details is a bit spotty, the parts I hate still sit with me. Faced with an impossible outcome to his final fight, the utterly trash deus ex machina ending for the main character and his resurrection as the actual author of the series was so awful, it stuck with me to this day, 16 or so years after its release. The whole just became some weird power fantasy of the author, who I guess wanted to be a vampire, but not in a very violent way (but that may be because in a YA book series, having the main characters be extremely brutal and unromantic wouldn't make for a popular read).

I'm sure some fans of this series will be like "oh no! it totally makes sense! You're forgetting plot points and character building! You're just a hater!", and sure, yes, I could be being unnecessarily harsh, but I cannot emphasize more how utterly crushed and disappointed by an ending of a book series numbering in the double digits.

I will truly never hate any ending of any book/show/film quite like this ending. I wish I could give it less stars. I despised the ending so much, I decided to take time out of my day to review the final entry of this YA series I hadn't read since middle school just to emphasize my hatred of this series.

Read the series if you want, but be prepared for a stupid, pointless ending.

This the final book in the Cirque du freak series. In this book Darren and Vanca finaly have the final battle against steve lenord. It turns out darren and steve are both sons of Mr.Tiny. Darren kills steve but doesnt want to be the lord of the shatows so he then kills him self. He is then in the lske of soles for 1000 years and human are gone. it is the age of dragons and mr.tiny then makes darren a little person and sends him back to the time where he and steve first see cirque du freak. He makes sure darren doesnt have the same fait as before and he gets his life back. He aslo gives his diary to mr tall so he can give it to the normal darren.

I can make a text to text connection to this book. this book is about a clan of vampires fighting for their exestince. The book twilight is also about this but it is nowhere as good as this book. They are both vampires but Cirque du freak is an amazing series.

I would give this book 5 stars. it is a fast pace action filled book. it keeps you sucked in. Ihere is always another supprise around the corner just as good as the last one in this book. I would give recomend this book to all ages.

I made it! I finally finished this series and I am full of sorrow. I grieve for all the hours wasted reading these books when I could have spent that precious time reading the works of talented writers. I'm quite surprised that J.K. Rowling put her stamp of approval on these books. Sure, the first few were good, but then this series just turned to rubbish.

If you are suffering from a bout of insomnia, pick up this book. Within minutes of reading, you will be sound asleep. I got a good nap while trying to read ten pages of drivel as Darren reflects on and on about his life. Sons of Destiny is a very weak conclusion to a series.

I'm not so satisfied with the ending and it's too open... And a little dissapointing tbh. All Darrens work all his adventures FOR NOTHING? For his deeds to be replaced by some other random kid... While we don't even know what exactly happened to that kid.

I'm still having the 'so what happened now' moment right now. Darrens adventures were amazing and I loved every moment of it. The ending was not as I expected and it was definitely one that fucked with my mind.

My biggest wish would have been a reunion with Mr. Crepsley and very briefly it's mentioned but I wanted more! (I loved him his death wrecked me)

I must admit it was a big plottwist I had not seen that coming but after Leonard and Darren fighting it honestly went downhill. Like okay I could have accepted Darren changing the past in a way but not for him to have never made all his friends and stuff??

I see that after what Darren did this outcome was probably like the only one

I can't believe the last book could be so... changing? It just made all the rest feel so surreal. I loved the series but the ending not so much. In a way it does satisfy me though, it makes the world we live in now what really happened so we actually (sort of) know the outcome.

So why still 3 stars? I loved Darren Shan and I still think it's clever how the author made it all fit into eachother from the beginning until the end. In a way I can accept the ending if I ignore some factors (none of Darrens adventures happening being the biggest one) but still it's a hard pill to swallow.

I won't say I'm 100% satisfied but I have very mixed feelings about it.

I really don’t know what to think about the ending of this series, but it was definitely not what I was expecting! I really need to reread this to fully absorb all of the information.

Love when the first book I read for the year is underwhelming, it means it can only go up from here! <3

This is the finale of Cirque du Freak. Unfortunately I never finished this series in middle school so I can't compare my adult thoughts to my pre-teen thoughts on this finale. But as an adult, I didn't like the weird tongue-in-cheek wink we got for the end. It was a bizarre twist for an ending and an almost copout silly conclusion but it is what it is.

Definitely think younger audiences will still have fun with this series but what a stupid ending.

FINALLY!! finished this book series!!

I saw the movie that they created from the series over 10 years ago and have been wanting to read this book series since. I picked this up at the beginning of grad school in hopes to get back into reading for enjoyment and to finally knock off this big book series off my TBR shelf. After a few years, I finally pushed through and finished the series.

overall, I think that this would’ve been a really fun book to read when I was in elementary or middle school and I wish I had read it back then soon after I’d seen the movie. I think that it brings up a lot of ideas about friendship and choices and destiny and fate, and I think that this book series overall was a really good read.

I do think, however, that the book series maybe could’ve only been about eight books, as there were, some filler moments to some of the books.

also, as I’ve said in almost all my reviews, I think that this would be an amazing TV series if it was done like how “a series of unfortunate events” was done.
