In the end I have to rate this 1 star. There is a scene about a third of the way into the book about a man getting sexual gratification out of breeding horses. It was so creepy, and completely unnecessary. Then near the end there is a scene where a man is drunk, and sleeping naked in a bed. Several women hatch a plan to go into the room, and take the sheet off of him to see his penis. Luckily, they fail, but all I could think of is how differently the reaction would have been if the genders were reversed.

With that out of the way...I actually really enjoyed about the first half of this book (Minus the creepy scene). It had some good humor, and was quite focused on the horses and the daily activities of the farm. You definitely should be familiar with horses, or else you are not going to understand quite a few terms they use. This book dips into being a romance, which isn't really my thing, but it was alright in the beginning.

Then things just get weird. All of a sudden the love interest is taking her to a cult meeting where they are in robes and chanting. Later on this cult gets naked and dances around a horse....ok. She drops this dude, gets with another guy pretty quick, and a few pages later she is in love and engaged. They move quick apparently.

After the cult is revealed, the book just gets boring. (Where do you go from there, really?) If you're involved with the horse world at all it's also a bit frustrating to see a character portrayed as being able to learn Grand Prix level dressage moves in a month when she's starting at training level. Everything just seems to fall into place for the main character, but then it turns out that she's rich anyway. lol

Judy Van Brunt's husband has cheated on her for the last time. She packs her bags, leaves a note on his pillow, and moves to an exclusive North Carolina horse farm. Once there she works as a groom, trains with an Olympic champion, and lives with three of the most interesting women.

Overall, I would have to say that I enjoyed this book, although some parts were pretty hokey, I did find myself laughing out loud quite a few times. If you are looking for something light hearted to read, this is the book.

Loved it! Full of characters and witty dialogue that gets me every time I read it, I just can't stop laughing with this book. About fresh starts, get up and go, and dressage. Sometimes all you can do is go forwards in life. :)

Horseplay by Judy Renee Singer was recommended to me by someone I assist with her horse training. She thought I get a lot of fun and laughing out of the story, and she was n  Spot On!n I loved it.

First, I must admit to having a lot of experience with horses with unique personalities to force adjustment to the way you bond with them. Like dogs, cats and husbands and wives, relationships evolve over time. Not all are successful, but if consideration and diligence are used the results can be enhanced.

I’m a big fan of dressage, especially done naturally, bareback and without bridle. Sometimes I think you can determine a horse’s mood easier that some peoples’.

I found myself laughing way too much. Horse folks will get a kick out of this book.

I really enjoyed this book! My friend, Mary reviewed this book on her Blog and I thought it would be a great book and it was!! The main character Judy used to live in NJ (so did I) then she moved to NC (that's where I live now), Judy rode horses (so have I since I was 6). The only thing I didn't have in common with Judy was her horrible husband, Marshall. My hubby is wonderful!! I loved Judy's thoughts of the 2 jack Russell terriers that were her constant companions-she cracked me up! I would definitely recommend this book and it just isn't for horse people!

I absolutely adored this book! I have felt for a while that it is sometimes hard to find really good adult horse books. I stumbled upon this one while I was searching through books for my Nook. It is a story about a thirty-something woman who finally decides to leave her cheating husband and embark on a new start in her life. She travels states away to become a working student for a well-known dressage trainer and the adventures ensue. This book literally had me laughing out loud in some parts! Not only was it funny, but the equestrian aspect and her relationship with her female roommates made this book a must read. It has it all: horses, humor, and experiences one can relate to. If you haven't read this book, you definitely need to!

Quick, easy read with some fun moments. Liked the friendships that develop along with the horses, but .... some of the characters as well as parts of the plot seemed to be over the top ruining it for me.

Read this a year or so ago. Pretty entertaining and a nice break from all the heavy stuff I'd been reading at school
