My horsey sister sent me this one. Woman leaves philandering husband and finds happiness working with horses. Actually a funny book and not a bad read.
I wanted to like it more - and really, really wish that I did, but it was not to be. The premise of running away to be a working student for a dressage olympian seems like a grown up horse lady fantasy, but the degree of silliness detracted from the underlying fantasy. There were some really funny parts that had me laughing, for example the description of the clinic with Master Valerone de la Valderone (only $250 for 45 mins and a possibility to taste supreme Enlightenment) - complete with candles in the arena (yes!) and a drummer had me cracking up. As well as being continually asked what level you rode - something that it took to the end of the book to establish (second level). A light, fun read that had me longing for more depth - which probably says more about me and less bout the book.
