This is a book I came across as a young child, though the shorter version.
When I found a copy of this specific book I was interested in the methodology outlined in it, because I have as years have gone by become more interested in the Jungian approach to dreams. I was inclined towards his views over those of Freud in regards to dreams, admittedly not out of any true academic rigour or philosophical argument, but because I was not entirely sure I wanted to believe the prime driver of all matters was sex. This may also have been why I was attracted to Adler (with the littler exposure I had of his ideas). Nonetheless, it is interesting that some of the ideas contained within the book and the classic methods of 'dream interpretation' do take into account factors such as social context, religious inclination, the season, the wider geographical climate, in contrast to what Freud had led me to believe about the classic 'symbol-interpretation' approach. Though admittedly there is a much great focus on what will happen with future events and the predictive value of dreams. Irrespective, I think as a bank of ideas of what dream symbols may represent, this volume may have some useful notions that can be referred to in this dictionary format.
