I read the Mr. men and LIttle Miss books when I was a kid, but a recent trip to London rekindled my love of this classic series. Being an absolute klutz myself , I can relate to Mr. Bump in a number of ways. His adventures in bumping into things and accidentally breaking things gives me yet another way to have a sense of humor about my own clumsiness.

Mr. Bump is one of my children’s early favourite books, with a classic humorous narrative synonymous with Roger Hargreaves’ original works in the Mr. Men and Little Miss series. A fantastic book for children ages 3-6.

So I recently went to an art show at the Iam8bit gallery in LA, the whole show was dedicated to the Mr. Men, Little Miss, collection. The art was great, but even better, they had the whole collection of these books for sale. While scanning over these books that I hadn't read in a decade, I immediately was drawn to "Mr. Bump". I knew it was my childhood favorite, but wasn't sure why. So I bought it and re-read it. What an amazing book. SImple. Short, but for some reason, super appealing. I love the character design. And, like many of my favorite books from childhood, slightly melancholy. I'm a strong believer that kids entertainment should have sad elements, because as a kid I really liked that. I don't know why, I just did. Probably too much Gene Wilder exposure. In any case, this book, and the whole series are super fun to go back and enjoy, I recommend it.

An excellent publication of an old classic, Mr Bump is considered to be one of the most prominent Mr Men books. The writing is ingenious and the comedy has the tendency to go over the heads of many. Roger Hargreaves' intellect is carefully and perfectly weaved into this book. There is little standard to compare it to, for it is the top. Mr Bump is a once-in-a-generation piece of writing, and will be compared next to the all time greats for years to come. Shakespeare should learn from this.

Overall, I would give it a rating of 128 out of 160. I got a paper cut from this.

This is an adorable series that I remember reading as a kid. I love that I can find them at our local library and read a few every once in a while to my kids. They have great life lessons on different character traits and are just silly and fun. Mr. Bump is clumsy, of course.

Poor Mr. Bump is terribly accident-prone and possibly needs to be tested for dyspraxia(!), but he finds his niche in the end.

Mr. Bump was hands down my absolute favourite Mr. Man when I was a kid, probably due to the fact I was a very clumsy child (who has now grown into a very clumsy adult, something that hasn't been helped by my deciding to go blind as well).

Re-reading this as a child of forty five, I still had a blast. Poor Mr. Bump... at least he eventually managed to find gainful employment, even if it is seasonal work. Of course, with the wizard changing the Earth's axis in the last book, who knows what the seasons are like now in Mr. Man land?

My next book: Death at Victoria Dock

The difference in how good these books are is kind of insane. This one was just, hmm, alright.

I like this book because Mr. Bump is bumping all through town, and then, crash, crash, crash, and red lights flash, and when he sees the gas pump, he bumps. And then, if you were Mr. Bump, what would you do? Not bump, because you know what Mr. Bump would do? Bump.
