First of all I am 43! I'm a life long epileptic and when I was a kid my mum would buy me something on hospital day. Usually clothes, but one time she bought me this book. So I decided to replace it digitally and I'm glad I have it back.
I quite enjoyed this book and I liked the character of Mr. Bump. However, it bothered me a little with some of the accidents that happened to Mr. Bump. He is someone who is always bumping into something and having accidents, however I wouldn't call falling out of a bus 'bumping', or falling into a large hole 'bumping'. I would consider these two accidents 'falling' out of something, rather than 'bumping' into something. The book doesn't explicitly say that he 'bumped' out of a bus or into a hole, but it is implied as the character is known for bumping into everything, hence the name Mr. Bump. Apart from those issues I picked up with Mr. Bump's accidents, this book is a great read!
I do love these stories. They are simple, straightforward and have a lovely moral. This is no exception, and tells how Mr Bump takes a negative liability and turns into a positive quality.
Mr Men books are amazing! Also used in Year 3 to teach about story structure and how to develop and write a story. Books were below the age range but that’s why they were good source material
