The 'Mr Men' and 'Little Miss' books are so simple yet so effective. I love the way that all the characters are linked and how characters pop up in other stories!
The books are great for encouraging young children to read because they are interesting, have a variety of simple language and are short enough that young children don't get bored! Children love collecting all the characters too.
This is an enjoyable story, not my favourite out of the collection, but it isn't bad by any means.
Elijah's Verdict (6 weeks old)
He absolutely loved this book! Had zero interest in the pictures, but we got a big smile halfway through, and there were lots of babbling noises, he was very vocal throughout. However, apparently, he only likes it when Mr. Bump is hurting himself because when Mr. Bump found his dream job, Elijah started crying.
Florence and I loved reading this so much that we had to read it three times. "Again. Again." Mr Bump is proper clumsy but he finds a job in the end, a job that allows him to be himself, and he's happy. A lovely story, funny, and a brilliant twist that allows Flo to see apples in a different light - and provides further encouragement, added to that of Mummy & Daddy, to eat them all up!
We all experience unimaginable grief through our lives, it is a quintessential part of the human experience. It is what makes it so rich too, as only through pain can we get to appreciate the sweetness of our lives. This book chooses to embody this message, its so perfect, so loving.
