"If you can keep your eyes open long enough, oh! The stuff you will learn! What wonderful stuff!"

This is a cute children's book about exactly what the title says; reading with your eyes shut and reading everything in sight. I think Dr. Suess is a great author because as a child, you don't notice that he has a deeper meaning to most of his rhymes. This story is a long rhyme that goes on for a while, but it tells about all the different kinds of categories you can learn about. The quote I found (at the top of this response) I thought was awesome because it shows literally that you can learn so many new things as long as you keep looking for them. Dr. Suess is trying to show children that you should keep looking to learn new things and grow as a reader, you can never read enough.

I love Dr. Seuss books and think that they are great for students to read! Anytime I see a Dr. Seuss book I haven't read, I make sure to pick it up and check it out. The rhyming words help students with reading. All the Dr. Seuss books I own are never in my library due to all the students reading them and exchanging with one another. My favorite part of this book is teaching students the importance of reading and what you learn from reading. You read everything and everywhere. This book gets others excited about reading because it is a Dr. Seuss book. Of course the illustrations are amazing and catch the readers eyes. Even as an adult I make sure to stop and look at all the pictures. The cat in the hat is showing the little cat how to read with your eyes and not reading with them shut. I like how he tells little cat to read with at least one eye open.

Dr. Seuss has done it again! This book is humorous along with informative and I just cant get enough of it. Cat in the Hat walks all around while telling Young Cat about reading. He can read with his eyes shut but he informs Young Cat that you can read so much more with your eyes open! Dr. Seuss is well-known for his clever rhymes and amazing illustrations and this book does not fall short from his others. The colorful pictures only enhance the experience by illustrating the silly tongue twisters. The text, while simple and short, is absolutely perfect for this story!

This book is great for beginners or anyone at all for that matter! This fun book is a classic that will always remain just that. I thoroughly enjoyed this picture book. To top it all off, the reader walks away from this fun read having learned an important life lesson.

Everything about this book works well together. The simple, rhyming text, the colorful, funny pictures that take up every page, and the zany tongue twisters make this book interesting and intriguing to children of all ages. The few words on each page makes it an easy book for teachers to read aloud in class. They don’t have much to read before they get to show the illustrations to their eager students! I very highly recommend this book as well as all other Dr. Seuss books.

Dr. Seuss"I Can Read with My Eyes Shut" is book that rhymes and can grab the readers attention. In the book he mentions that he can read with his eyes shut but if you keep reading with your eyes shut you will miss so much more than if you with your eyes were open. I believe that in the book he relays a message that books open your eyes to a new world rather than being left in the dark. Books can change your life and you will learn so much more by reading. This book is a treasure and is a book that should be read at all times even in an older classroom because I believe it will provide insight to those who have lost their intentions of reading. Great book!

I Can Read With My Eyes Shut is yet another Dr. Suess classic, but I feel that this one goes above and beyond the fantasy world of Dr. Suess and actually delivers some very solid context. The book basically explains to the reader how reading itself is an amazingly important thing and that through reading you can accomplish all types of things throughout your life, but without reading you will not be able to become what you want. Some very deep things to think about, but good to instill them in children at a young age.

I would recommend this to Kindergarten and up, but any fans of Dr. Suess will absolutely love this story, as it still keeps the fun of a Suess tale with some added long-term advice thrown in for good measure.

It doesn't matter how old I get, but I can't help but being charmed by the Dr. Seuss books. This one in particular is extra endearing because it's all about the joys of reading. Seuss makes an excellent and whimsical thesis that one must keep at least one eye open so that one is able to fully appreciate the full range of knowledge that books can offer us, and as a fellow book addict I can 100% get behind his message! This book is also very well designed to entice early readers, as many of Dr. Seuss' beginner books are, because it artfully combines tongue in cheek language that is easy to read, entertaining illustrations to fully engage readers, and absolutely hilarious rhymes that I'm sure keep young readers wanting to puzzle out what's coming next. The Cat in the Hat may have been the start of the beginner books from Dr. Suess, but I much prefer the randomly whimsical story (or lack there of, honestly) and far superior illustrations of this book!

The Cat in the Hat shows that there are various ways to read in any book. He teaches Little Cat about all the fun things you can do while reading. He proceeds to tell Little Cat that though you can read with your eyes shut, you can explore and read so much more with your eyes open. Cat in the Hat show’s Little Cat all the ways you can read words and change them around to make new meanings. He teaches Little Cat valuable life lessons to keep in mind while reading.

The rhyming schemes capture the reader and make you want to turn the page even faster to see what is coming next. The illustrations full of color make each page come to life with each word that is written. The book puts an instant smile on ones face because of the funny phrases Dr. Seuss uses to create the story. The words and pictures easily capture the reader the moment they turn the first page. The words instantly catch your attention because they are written in various colors to add appeal. This story is great for beginning readers because it allows them to see that there are many ways to read and tell a story. Dr. Seuss creates a story full of lessons and imagination to bring this story to life.

More often than not I would skip over the Doctor Seuss books in the library just because I remember reading them when I was little and want to read something new now. However, my roommate is also in children's literature and she picked out this book for one of her picture books and took it upon herself to read it to me as a "bedtime story". Of course, it's silly for college students to be reading each other bedtime stories, but I had a lot of fun reliving the book and decided to borrow it as one of my own. Overall, the story is one to teach children that reading is a good thing and that it's all around us if we just keep our eyes open. The crazy animations and rhyme scheme offer a fun way to learn that makes the child want to read it on their own at a later time. Dr. Seuss has always had an almost magical way of making stories that interest people of all generations, present and past. This book was of course not a disappointment to that tradition and I would highly recommend it as a bedtime story or to use in a classroom to promote the idea of reading, and where it is necessary.

Dr. Seuss is an amazing author and illustrator who makes reading a fun, colorful journey with the lovable Cat in the Hat with his fellow young cat. In I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!, Seuss takes readers on a whimsical reading adventure with Cat in the Hat encouraging his young cat friend to read with both eyes open so he can read more about everything from anchors, mice, ice, mice on ice, or ice on mice.

The illustration was bright, lively that conveys this happy mood which encourages a fun atmosphere to be created while reading the book. It's not boxy or limited to borders; rather, feels like it's going to pop out at you with all the movement being done from the characters drawn throughout the book.

Seuss uses rhymes and simple illustrations that complement the storyline and the text. Some text may be hard to read due to the orientation as Seuss integrates some text with his artwork, but nevertheless, it is a book highly recommended to read to/ with children to keep them engaged in something they find funny and interesting. Seuss also carries a thematic concept that introduces the idea that children should keep both (or maybe at least one eye) open to learning because there is so much about our world that we should learn and that knowledge may take us to greater places.

Seuss does a brilliant job of integrating everything so smoothly and harmoniously. The content, the art, and the overall message is wonderful and should be read more often.

This Dr. Seuss book is a great one to get kids excited about reading. Like all great Seuss books, it has off-the-wall rhymes, bright colors, and a great overall message. In this Seuss tale, the cat and the hat and friends talk about all of the wonderful things you can learn from reading and that the more you read, the more you will know!I really liked the illustrations in this book because they can help beginning readers decipher some of the harder words. The words interact and contribute to the illustrations instead of taking away from them. I recommend this book to any parent or teacher looking for a fun and engaging story to share with their kids as well as any beginning readers out there who want to learn all about the joys of reading from a mischievous cat in a tall red and white hat!

‘“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go”.
The Cat in the Hat shows his protégé, Young Cat, that while reading with one’s eyes closed can be amazing, it can be a strain. When one reads with their eyes open, they will be able to learn a large number of wonderful things, some of which are shown through illustrations.’
This book is awesome.
I don’t know why but this is my favourite Cat In The Hat-related books. It may be that Cat is more mellow in this book, or maybe it’s the introduction of Young Cat, or maybe it is just because I love reading. Whatever the reason is, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

As a massive fan of reading, I adore anything that encourages young people to read and to find enjoyment from reading and this book does both in a fun and strange way. Given that this is a Dr. Seuss book I wouldn’t have expected anything less than weird and wonderful; and thankfully that is exactly what this book is.
One of the things that make Dr. Seuss’s books so special is the perfect combination of wacky writing and story with brilliantly bold illustrations. The way in which these elements work together and create a truly wonderful reading experience is what keeps me returning to Dr. Seuss’s books.
I love read reading this book and it is one of the first Dr. Seuss books I give or recommend to all young readers in my life. If you haven’t read this book, or you haven’t read it in a while, you should definitely consider picking it up and giving yourself a nice little reading treat.
I Can Read With My Eyes Shut by Dr. Seuss is a must-have for all young readers and their families.
