Oh, what could be more wonderful than a birthday??? This darling little Seuss book is perfect for any child old enough to sit through this many pages...especially when their birthday is near! Oh, the joy! (This is, however, one of the Seuss books that contains humans, and...sigh!...yes, the star of the birthday is white. But it's still a great book.)
Remember...there is no one, no, NO one who's you-er than you!
What better way than to celebrate your birthday in the whimsical world of Dr. Suess, as he sends the Birthday Bird to whisk you away to the land of Katroo where you celebrate your Day of Days. This rhyming tongue- twister of a tale will brighten anyone's day who just happens to have a birthday, and without a birthday, you wouldn't be you.
Once in a while you need a little Seuss in your blood and this was such a time. I had never heard of this book but bought it because of the title. It was alright but not one of his best.
It's the second time I read this one and I love it as much as I did the first time. Everyone should read this book on their birthdays. I love the crazy imagination of Dr Seuss, I love that the characters all look the same, with an upturned pointy nose. Crazy words, crazy characters and crazy things happening... I love it.
Happy Birthday to You was about a Birthday Bird who goes around to all the birthday boys and girls and gives them a day full of fun. This was not one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books. I got bored of it, and the storyline was sometimes confusing. I feel like this could confuse students more than make them excited to read. I would have this book on the bookshelf for older students who like to read Dr. Seuss, but I would not pull it out to read. There was also a page where the birthday boy's butt was out, and I think some of the younger students would not act as mature after seeing that.
I should probably just read books ahead of time because this got ridiculous. I had to get an audiobook of this online.
Anyway, this is actually a good book? As always, Dr. Seuss serves with his great rhymes. He makes the most nonsensical words fit perfectly into his stories. The book doesn’t really, as another review said, serve for any purpose other than for a Happy Birthday so I can’t rate it any higher.
I read this for you, Madeleine. With my short attention span, I had to speed it up to 1.5x. Anyway, seriously, happy birthday to you. Thank you for being the only friend I have that’s nerdy enough to actually have a Goodreads account. I hope that your birthday goes amazingly and mourn that we couldn’t all enjoy it together (stupid hurricane.) Thank you for being a wonderful friend and happy birthday to you!!!
If we didn't have birthdays, you wouldn't be you. If you'd never been born, well then what would you do? If you'd never been born, well then what would you be? You might be a fish! Or a toad in a tree! You might be a doorknob! Or three baked potatoes! You might be a bag full of hard green tomatoes. Or worse than all that. . . Why, you might be a WASN'T! A Wasn't has no fun at all. No, he doesn't. A Wasn't just isn't. He just isn't present. But you. . .You ARE YOU! And, now isn't that pleasant!
I read this book because I heard this quote from Johnny NCT 127. " Today you are you ! That is truer than true ! There is no one alive who is you-er than you ! " I like just only this quote in this book and.
This was not my favorite Dr. Seuss ... but still a cute way to say Happy Birthday. I think it seemed a little selfish to me? I'm not really sure why I didn't care for it quite as much as his other stories.
This was ok! I thought it would be better. I really do regretter. I picked it up at a yard sale, it was really cheap. I should have left in that great big heap. It is just not my favorite it wasn't that good. Just cause it was Dr. Seuss I thought it would. It just went on and on and never stopped. Like a Kangaroo who hopped and hopped. Just because it is a rhyme doesn't make it great all the time.
So free book for anyone who wants it? Let me know!
