I decided to stop smoking after getting over the flu - since I noted how I didn't miss my precious cigarettes while I was ill. But I knew I'd likely start again soon if I didn't make a change.
A good friend recommended this book to me and claimed it had helped her quit four months ago. Previous to reading 'Easyway' I was only going to stop for the health reasons, still believing it would be something to 'give up' rather than something to be rid of. I even claimed to like it, as many do.
It's now my eleventh day in and it doesn't feel hard at all, even though I'm actually surrounded by heavy smokers a lot. I'm turning 26 and this year in september it would have been my 12th year of smoking.
I'll give my copy of the book to my best friend who also told me she wants to quit but don't know if she can do it.
As Carr states in his book: If you're a smoker just give the book a try. You have nothing to lose and everything to win!
Actually an easy way to stop smoking!! I did not think this book would work, nor did I particularly want to quit. I skeptically gave it a go just to stop everyone suggesting it all the time. To my amazement, the book WORKED. Without spending any time talking about how bad smoking is (we all know!) it just gave some simple encouragement and information. By the time you finish reading, you don't want cigarettes anymore. It was the easiest way I've ever tried to quit. It's been three years and I still haven't smoked.
F.O.R.M.I.D.A.B.L.E I have waited 15 days before leaving a review for this book. It works, it truly does! My partner and I smoked our last cigarette on 31 March and the difference between us was the reading of this book. While for me, stopping to smoke was the EASIEST thing I have ever done for my health and wellbeing, my partner really struggled and had some redraw symptoms. I had no such thing, I never craved it since then and I never think about smoking again, not even in the highest period of stress ( Covid19 pandemic+ two children at home+ unemployment+ changing my eating habits) I highly recommend it to everyone who's ready to stop smoking. It is really that simple!
I honestly hated this book. I have heard amazing things about it from many who quit smoking through reading this book or other Carr books. I am a therapist. I know theory. I know what brain washing is and cognitive distortions and the lies we tell ourselves about smoking.
I haven't had a cigarette in 23 days, but just finished the book today. I am doing this my way and this book had nothing to do with my success. I feel like it was the biggest waste of my time and I wish I could get back the 2.5 hours that I spent reading the book.
I can't remember why there is a women's version of this, but this did help me when even though I wasn't addicted to the nicotine. I thought it was well-written and can be helpful to someone who is having trouble quitting smoking.
I would recommend Allen Carr's Easyway to any smoker who wants to stop smoking - it works and it doesn't make you feel deprived..unlike everything else out there.
I'd recommend Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking rather than this specific one for women. They will both work but the first one is better organized.
Amazing common sense approach to breaking down the blatant lies we have been taught and repeated to ourselves to justify smoking. Liberating!!
Unbelievable that I got the confidence and tools to quit smoking from a book that breaks downs all the lies that have been so ingrained in us to make us feel powerless to ever quit.
