This is one of the most important books I've ever read. It is so creative and the language is beautiful. It helped me to think of Jesus as a human. Gibran's writing makes me feel the same way a beautiful film score does.

کتابی روایت گونه از اشخاص مختلف و نظرات و عقایدشان راجع به حضرت عیسی مسیح که آقای جبران در نهایت نظر خود را با قلمی بسیار دلچسب عنوان می کنند.
نقدی که می توان بر این اتر داشت این است که از لحاظ تاریخی مدرک موتقی به شمار نمیرود چراکه به عنوان متال حتی محل تولد حضرت عیسی را ناصره معرفی می کند ولی اگر بخواهم دلیلی برای این تغییر مکان تولد بیاورم می گویم شاید آقای جبران خواسته اند عقاید خود را در قالب عیسی ای تازه به جهانیان اعلام کنند امادر مورد تک تک جزییات به کار رفته در این کتاب باید بگویم با شک برخورد کردم به همان دلیل شک به اعتبار وقایع تاریخی و افراد.
برخی از این شک ها را با استناد به قرآن کریم بر طرف کردم همانند به صلیب کشیده نشدن حضرت عیسی و غیره.
از این موارد که بگذریم قلم آقای نویسنده به خصوص در صفحات بایانی نظرم را جلب کرد.

It may seem presumptuous for someone from the 20th century to write about the life of Jesus in this manner, but Gibran pulled it off brilliantly. I actually bring this book to church, and read it alongside the scriptures for inspiration! Jesus: The Son of Man gives readers a very personal look at the Savior, and a very affecting one.

Such an interesting concept for a book. Various real and fictional characters from her life of Christ describe their encounters and impressions of him. Beautiful prose.

Great book. This is a 'what if' book. It is a collection of commentaries of characters in the Bible who may have known Jesus, and how they viewed him. It is a very human book, and of course fictional. But a very good read to contemplate how Christ's contemporaries may have viewed Him.

this was such an interesting and valuable read. of course not all of it is accurate, but how cool to understand Jesus from the perspective of 77 different people, including a lot of people I’ve never heard of. the wonder He puts upon these people’s hearts, I feel it too. that’s what makes this book so raw and genuine, I feel Gibran was really moved by the Spirit to write it.

ძალიან საინტერესო და რაღაცნაირად ემოციური იყო 77 განსხვავებული ადამიანის მონათხრობი ქრისტეს შესახებ. ვინ აღარ საუბრობს მასზე და რას აღარ საუბრობენ, მაგრამ ყველაზე მეტად ალბათ იუდას დედის მონათხრობი და ბერძენი მწყემსის სიზმარი ჩამრჩება, რომელმაც იესო და პანი იხილა მინდორზე მოსაუბრენი.

საბოლოოდ კი იმას ვიტყვი, რომ ყოველგვარი რელიგიურობისა თუ მორწმუნეობის გარეშე, მართლა შემიძლია ვთქვა, რომ მთელი გულით მიყვარს ეს კაცი და არ აქვს მნიშვნელობა ღმერთია, ძე კაცისაა, ფილოსოფოსია, ჯადოქარია თუ უბრალოდ გამოგონილი პერსონაჟია.

Buku ini terdiri dari banyak bab, bahwa Yesus dilihat dari berbagai sisi oleh orang-orang yg pernah terlibat bersama dirinya. Baik yg singkat maupun cukup lama bersama dan mengenal Yesus. Ditulis dgn gaya puitis dan makna filosofi religius.

Lumayan sih bagi saya. Tidak semua berpendapat dan memandang Yesus sbg sosok yg baik, ada segelintir yg melihat sosok Yesus sbg sosok yg buruk. Tapi kebanyakan tentu saja memandangNya sbg sosok yg patut dikagumi dan diteladani.

Recommended bagi yg suka banget filosofi dan puisi. ☕

Some of the vignettes in this book were so beautiful, others were incredibly thought provoking, but he probably could have cut some and expanded others. A fascinating read that imagines the thoughts and experiences of a wide range of people coming in contact with Christ.

There are some books that are so different in style and approach that either a person likes it or doesn't. For me, this book did not resonate at all. Browsing other reviews, I can see that many others see it differently.

I didn't mind the way the sayings and actions of Jesus were blended together and redistributed, placed together in ways that aren't found in the source materials. I'm not a biblical literalist and understand that the gospel writers probably did some of that as well in creating a narrative about Jesus to fit the theme and community to which they were writing. I also didn't mind the invention of characters and details that are absent in the biblical text. Some of these are based on extrabiblical traditions.

Where I had difficulties were when Gibran's narrative contradicted the biblical ones. It felt as if I was reading a text version of some of the recent television and movie adaptations of biblical stories. I kept asking, "Why and for what purpose did the story have to depart from the source material and even contradict it?" Again, I don't necessarily have problems with interpretations of the source material that run counter to traditional interpretations. But these always have reasons why an alternative interpretation is conceivable and provide evidence.

When a story itself (vs. its traditional interpretations) is contradicted, it is far more difficult to make a case for why a reader should accept it. It opens the door to allowing any and all imaginative and fantastical storytelling. If the source material is merely the inspiration, the source material ultimately has no weight. It is the difference between an imagined tale being "based on" vs. "inspired by." The former seeks to remain true to the source while the latter appropriates elements of the source to fabricate something that may or may not have anything to do with the original intent. For me, Gibran's work falls into the latter.

Finally, I'm not a huge fan of poetry. Even though much of the book is prose, it is still prose that uses the methods of poetry: metaphors, word pictures, enigma. The form, too, did not resonate and appeal to me.

I hate being so critical of a book that many others have seen otherwise. But this was not a book that I enjoyed.
