The perfect toddler storytime book - animals, animal noises, guessing games, and peek-a-boo. Read this one aloud with lots of vocal emphasis for a room of toddlers pointing at animals, making their favorite animal noises, and gleefully playing peek-a-boo with themselves and others. Do peek-a-boo with the group after or risk a terrible transition to the next rhyme or activity.
Young kids typically enjoy lift the flap books, and this one was fun, although not as fun as some others. For the most part, there is not much of a surprise when the animal is revealed, but recognizing the animal and making the sound is fun for toddlers.
4.5 stars My 3.5yo son and 10mo son enjoyed this book - so a great win. My 3.5yo even kept saying the different peek a boos. Only reason not a 5 is cuz he still didn't want to read it again and there's nothing spectacular about it.
Another favorite book of my one year old. He loves peek-a-boo books and he loves animals. He loves it when you say the animal sounds as if you were that animal. The cow is his favorite and the duck makes him laugh. Adorable.
So good. So many things can be done with this book. I have the kids say the name of the animal before I read it, I have them make the animal sounds, and at the end I try to have them do a little peek-a-boo of their own.
