This was a book I had selected for Baby-rhyme time at my library in the spring, but forgot to add to my goodreads. I don't remember it, but again, it must have been good enough to include for a storytime.

In this lift-the-flap book, children have to guess which animal is playing peek-a-boo and make the corresponding animal noises. It makes for a fun participation story for story time programs.

Summary: Little ones love to play peek-a-boo! With its bright, quirky animals and oversized flaps to lift, Peek-a-Moo! is sure to be a read-aloud favorite. Readers play peek-a-boo with a different animal on each page, guessing what it is, then lifting the flap to find out. Each animal has a different sound that becomes part of the peek-a-boo game: Guess who? "Peek-a-moo!" says the cow. "Peek-a-squeak!" says the mouse. The bold, funny illustrations will keep kids laughing, while the large trim size and sturdy binding will ensure many hours of lift-the-flap fun.
Genre: fictional picture book
Reading level: This book is best for emergent readers because it has very few words on each page, it has repetitive phrases, and the illustrations match the text very closely. The size of the font and the space between the letters distinguishes this as an emergent book. Another distinguishing feature of this book is the amount of high frequency words.
Topic: barnyard animals + distinguishing noises they make, indentifying
Curriculum uses: I would read this book aloud to a classroom of young children, who are starting to read at the emergent level. I would encourage talking back during the read aloud. I would also use this for shared reading and independent reading.
Social issues: interacting with animals, living on a farm in a rural setting
Literary elements: This book has repetition on every page, with the phrase, “guess who? Peek a.” Through this repetition, readers will have an easier time at understanding the words on each page.
Illustrations and Text: The illustrations in this book match the text very closely and convey the laid back mood of the story. I think that these illustrations are so engaging for readers that they are fun for both teachers and students.

Peek-a-moo, peek-a-oink... all of the animals on the farm are playing peek-a-boo. Very cute lift the flap style book.

With huge opening flaps, children love pulling the images of arms down and being surprised by the smiling faces awaiting them. A must for pre-todlers.

A peek a boo flap book that goes over the various sounds animals make. I see this book being a lot of fun and very interactive for a young story time group.
