Got this for $1.00 at a library book sale. 365 recipes and I have already made at least 50 of them. I love that they are fast and she does lots of variations for each recipe! She also has really great ideas for making healthier style take-out favorites (she calls this Make Your Own Takeout MYOTO)...This is becoming one of my go-to cookbooks.
I like the format of this book, master recipes that have variations that follow. Unfortunately, as a vegetarian, there is little here once you eliminate the pork chops, skirt steaks and chickens. Even with the rise of fake meats many of these cannot be "converted". My hope is that Rachel applies her obvious knowledge and skills to the veggie side of the world.
Rachael Ray's recipes are okay - but you HAVE to add about 15 minutes to the "30 minute meal". I've made about 2 dozen of her recipes now, and I have NEVER been done in 30 minutes. The prep work invariably adds some time.
Likes: * the easy, simple style in which the recipes are written * ingredients that are easy to find at the supermarket (no duck fat, Mongolian saffron or habanero peppers needed) * Relatively low clean-up after the meal's done
Dislikes: * No pictures with the recipes * No meal information listed, like sodium content, calories, etc.
That having been said, I definitely recommend meals like #284: Tangy Cherry Chicken.
