نهاية العام 2013 م، أقوم بترتيب أوراقي، إنجاز مهامي المؤجلة، مراجعة حصيلتي خلال العام، بل مراجعة ذاتي كاملة، كل نهاية عام وبداية آخر، هي فرصة لكل تلك الغربلة والتدقيق، ومراجعة الخطط وإعادة بعثها بثوب جديد.

وفي مثل هذه الأوقات ألجأ إلى الفاتنة التشيلية، هي وحدها من تحمل لي كتبها حنواً خاصاً، هي وحدها من تكتب باستمتاع تام، وبقدرة مذهلة على ملاحقة التفاصيل، ولم تخيبني... ايزابيل لا تفعل، هكذا قصت لي في ليالي الشتاء، حيث يولد عام ويموت آخر، قصة مذهلة، عن إنيس سواريث، المرأة الإسبانية التي عشقت بيدرو دي بالديبيا، ورافقته في حملة فتح واستيطان تشيلي، إنها الأعوام الأولى بعد اكتشاف العالم الجديد، والإسبان يمضون براية الملك كارلوس الخامس ليغرسوها في كل مكان تصل إليه أقدامهم، هناك يبحثون عن الذهب، ويستعبدون الأهالي، وينصرونهم أو يقتلونهم بلا حساب، إنها أعوام مرعبة، مخجلة، تأخذنا إليها ايزابيل بلا هوادة، هكذا... نتابع رحلة الاثنين، تأسيسهما لمدينة سانتياغو عاصمة تشيلي، هناك حيث يصمدان لهجمات السكان الأصليين، هناك حيث تدور ملحمة لاوتارو، الهندي الذي يتسلل ليتعلم فنون الإسبان العسكرية وتكتيكاتهم، ويعود بعدها ليقود قومه ضد الإسبان، في معركة طويلة وشرسة.

يا للجمال الذي صاغت به ايزابيل حكايتها، نعم... إنها حكايتها، بين يدي الفنان تتخلص القصة من أصولها وارتباطاتها الواقعية، وتكتسب حياة جديدة، هكذا... نشهد الحب بين إنيس وبالديبيا، نشهد نهاية تلك العلاقة العشقية، كما نشهد نهاية بالديبيا المرعبة، كل هذا مصاغاً بعناية بكل تلك التفاصيل التي تضعك على مسافة قصيرة من كل تلك الأزمنة التي أهيل عليها الكثير والكثير.

لا تفوتوا هذا الكتاب، لا تنتظروا نهاية عام وبداية آخر، فهذا الكتاب يمكن له أن يصنع أيامكم.

رائعة جديدة من روائع ايزابيل الليندى..براعة واحترافية تامة فى وصف ماهية الفتوحات والقسوة والفظاعة التى تملئها،ولا تغفل ايزابيل دوما ان توجد الحب برغم قسوة الانسان فتخترعه وتحدثنا عنه،آملة ان نؤمن به فى كل وقت وتحت اى ظرف ..

رواية تُطلق العنان للحواس كافة، تسبرُ أغوار أمكنة وأزمنة تجعل المرء يتساءل: هل بحوزة إيزابيل أيّيندي آلة زمن، لتخرُجَ بعمل خلّاب كهذا؟

La historia de Inés Suárez es la de todas aquellas mujeres que el canon histórico silenció; la de todas aquellas cuya participación en la misma, independientemente de su importancia, fue reducida a una sola definición: normalmente la de bruja, loca o ramera. Y por eso es tan importante.
Normalmente detesto leer sobre colonización porque las barbaridades que se cometieron disfrazando la avaricia y la falta de escrúpulos con capas de nacionalismo y religión me repugnan indefiniblemente, y es por ello que me ha sorprendido tanto lo ligera e interesante que se me ha hecho esta historia. Isabel Allende nunca decepciona.

Maybe 3.5 stars. My first book by this author. Some of this read like non-fiction but definitely a fictionalized story of the Spanish foray into South America focusing on the conquest of what would become known as Chile and the establishment of the city of Santiago. It is narrated by the 70 y/o Ines Suarez as she relates this history (1500-1553) to her daughter Isabel as she intuits her impending death. " I fear these pages already contain more cruelty that a Christian soul can tolerate. " It was a bloody slog indeed throughout the book, barbaric behavior in torture, victory & death.

" I suspect in this life we are not going anywhere and even in less haste; one merely follows a path, one step at a time, toward death. So let us keep going...tell this story as long as we have days left; there is still much I want to recount.

Ines was quite a remarkable woman and her story kept me reading. She was BOLD, leaving the security of but lonely life in Spain to search for her husband Juan who had left Spain in search of wealth in the New World.
She became the lover of the famous conquistador Pedro de Valdivia and shared and fought (literally at times) for his dream. Valdivia became the first Governor of Santiago but was a soldier at heart and determined to subdue the hostile native populations.
She endured much hardship to carve a place in the world and living to 70 I think is quite a testament to the iron will and determination of Ines. This woman was definitely a BOLD woman and I found her comment to her friend Cecilia particularly current: " Courage is a virtue appreciated in a male but considered a defect in our gender. Bold women are a threat to a world that is badly out of balance, in favor of men. That is why they work so hard to mistreat us & destroy us. But remember that bold women are like cockroaches: step on one & others come running from the corners."

Isabel’s writing is always expressive and filled with sly references to characters foibles and faults. The central character is complex but hard to connect with. Her courage is exemplary yet as the matriarch of a country she fails in several key ways to inspire.

Hice esta re-lectura y me volví a enamorar de los personajes. Isabel es mágica en la ficción histórica, alucinante con sus descripciones y siempre tiene ese toque de humor que me fascina.
Comencé a ver la serie basada en el libro y se las recomiendo, está muy buena!

Que libro tan maravilloso, que manera tan hermosa de narrar una historia de amor envuelta en guerra y sangre, Isabel Allende me gusta muchísimo y este es sin duda mi libro favorito de la escritora seguido muy muy de cerca por la isla.bajo del.mar.
Si bien este libro es en esencia una historia de a amor, nos muestra sin ningún tapujo lo sangrienta que fue la conquista por parte de los españoles en el Perú y Chile y muy sabiamente nos hace pensar si había derecho para eso, por que grandes culturas tenían que someterse a unos recien llegados en nombre de un rey que no solo no conocían, si no que estaba a años de distancia y como sufrieron tormento tras tormento en mano de estos hombres que se creían dueños legítimos de todo en nombre de un Dios inexistente.
Inès es un personaje maravilloso, ame este libro.

"Inés da Minha Alma" é um romance histórico sobre a vida de Inés Suárez, uma costureira espanhola que decidiu partir rumo ao Novo Mundo à procura do seu marido, perdido em busca da glória.

A história é contada através das memórias de Inés, que já perto do fim da vida decide contar todas as suas aventuras. Uma mulher pobre e analfabeta, numa sociedade em que não tinha quaisquer direitos ou recursos, Inés fundou a cidade de Santiago e tornou-se numa das mulheres mais poderosas do Chile.

Embarcou rumo às Américas, numa viagem de barco bastante atribulada e quando descobriu que era agora uma viúva, em vez de regressar a Espanha, Inés decide ficar e ajudar a conquistar o Chile. Por amor. Tornou-se numa guerreira fenomenal e na segunda pessoa mais rica do Chile.

A forma como Isabel Allende nos consegue passar as emoções é soberba. O livro tem cenas bastante fortes, cenas de guerra, cenas violentas, de dor e tragédia e o leitor consegue sentir exactamente todas as emoções transmitidas.

É apenas o meu segundo livro de Isabel Allende, mas penso que nenhum vai superar "A Casa dos Espíritos", que é dos meus livros favoritos. No entanto, a escrita da autora não desiludiu em nada e gostei muito de conhecer a história de Inés

Isabel Allende é, neste livro, uma historiadora, uma contadora de histórias fenomenal e feminista. Vale muito a pena ler!

Unfortunately, couldn't get into it. Read the first half and decided to call it quits. I just can't feel compassion for conquistadors; I keep rooting for them all to die and leave the natives alone.

Quickly summed up, Isabel Allende's novel: Ines of My Soul, is a "true" account about Dona Ines Saurez who left Spain in the 1500's to go to the Americas and ended up helping conquering parts of Chile. I find it sad that it took over 400 years for her part in history to be recognized.

I have never read a book by Isabel Allende. This was recommended to me by a friend. So I cannot compare this to any of her other works.

I do not know much about Chilean or Peruvian history, so I found this novel to be somewhat fascinating in that regard. The historical facts that Allende weaved into the story was great. I felt like I learned some new things while reading this book.

Ines Saurez was a very interesting and complex woman. She said she found it horrific how the Spaniards treated the natives, yet she was very willing to have her "hired help" with her. She was very head-strong and knew how to cook, clean, sew, nurse the men back to health and even helped save one of the battles with the natives. She was spiritual and open to new ideas taught to her by her maid/friend, yet, was very Spanish. I feel she definitely came across as being slightly superior over others.

There are some rough patches in the book -- it took me about 15-20 pages in to really get hooked. But once there, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I'm also not sure how I felt about how the novel was set up: Ines dictating to her daughter, Isabelle. At first I thought she was talking about the author, Isabel Allende. It was confusing. After it was cleared up that it was her daughter, it made a lot more sense.

All in all, though, I would definitely recommend this book.
