As I enjoyed Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus, I thought I would check this out. The techniques in this book are very good. I read this book over a year ago and wished I had brought it with me to Egypt, as I believe it could have helped with the transition period. Having implemented the techniques as I read the book, I could see the impact and improvement in my eldest son very quickly. Our relationship is so much better, as well as my understanding of how much my behaviour affects him, not to mention the way in which I was raised as a child. With the help of this book, and Adele Faber's HOw to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk", I am less stressed out, our co-operations with each other is improving and we are a much better team. An absolute must for parenting in today's world.... happy kids, happy parents, happy home, happy community and happy world!!

Great guidance to help with the boys during different stages of life

Around me I still see people treating children like they were treated this is a good insight into thinking about how they should be treated, that is all!

For me, personally: difficult to read, not attractive.
It is no doubt that the ideas in the book are clever, interesting, etc, etc.
But the style in which the book is written (deliberately created like this) was repugnant to me.
(that's why it took me so much time to read it)

I'll try to describe what I didn't liked in the style of the book:
Author has 2 ideas on a subject. He present first idea, than 5 combinations of first and second ideas in which he goes gradually from 1st to 2nd (first idea decreasing, second increasing) and finally he arrives to second idea. So you just read parts of first idea several times, same with second idea.
This is supposed to take you slowly, gradually, from one idea to another, take care of you reader, to not receive to much in one shot, prepare you, repeat information in slightly different versions so that you really understand, etc.
And this is happening often.

But for me: this is just annoying. And sounds like marketing. We need to fill the pages.
In fact how many times is mentioned in the book that "now, with positive education method you don't need to (what ever)" ? Very often.

So the content of the book is very, very good, but its style is too diluted I would say - it is my very personal opinion! Sometimes it is even difficult to remember key ideas because they were so diluted in different variants (key ideas for me, other than key ideas of the book - which indeed are emphasized ok).

I remember that his other book "Men are from Mars, women from Venus" was a pleasure to read. But indeed was lots of years ago. I suppose I have changed also...
And now was a collective of writers - to help - my impression is that they didn't helped.

This is an excellent book for (new) mamas who are as confused and anxious as I am as my baby approaches toddlerhood! The messages were very clear and came in small chunks. Very easy to absorb and apply. I felt some sort of comfort cloud over me as I read this book. I would definitely recommend it!
