You're wonderful.

This simple yet powerful statement holds a world of meaning. It is an acknowledgment of someone's special qualities, their charm, their kindness, or perhaps their unique abilities.

"I know."

The response, equally concise, shows a certain self-awareness and confidence. It implies that the person being complimented is indeed aware of their own wonderfulness and is not shy about admitting it.

And then there's the "lol" at the end, adding a touch of lightheartedness and playfulness to the exchange. It could be a sign of shared humor or a way to diffuse any potential awkwardness that might have arisen from the directness of the conversation.

Overall, this brief interaction captures a moment of connection and self-acceptance, all wrapped up in a few short lines.

Meow!!

Cats are fascinating creatures. Their soft fur, cute little faces, and mysterious behaviors have always intrigued us. They come in various breeds, each with its own unique characteristics. Some are playful and active, while others are more laid-back and lazy.

Cats have a natural ability to hunt, even in the comfort of our homes. They love to chase after toys and small objects, showing off their agility and speed. Their sharp claws and teeth make them efficient predators.

Despite their independent nature, cats also enjoy the company of their owners. They will often curl up on our laps or rub against our legs, seeking affection and attention.

In conclusion, cats are wonderful companions that bring joy and entertainment to our lives. Whether they are meowing for food or simply lounging in the sun, they always manage to capture our hearts.

I am extremely happy to be rediscovering these books together with my kids. It's truly amazing how I had completely forgotten all about them! Currently, we are reading them out of order as I only possess the last two volumes. However, this particular one serves as a wonderful standalone.

It is a delightfully sweet tale that combines warmth and coziness with a hint of excitement and adventure. Alexander, a brave little kitten, finds himself in a rather precarious situation when he climbs a tall tree in the deep forest, far away from his home. But then, a fortunate encounter with Jane, the small and mute catwing, saves him. It is evident that Jane has endured some past trauma, and Alexander realizes that he can repay her kindness and friendship.

Ursula K LeGuin is indeed a literary legend. These stories are very short and easily digestible. In fact, this one was only four chapters long and was accompanied by plenty of lovely illustrations. Moreover, it's nearly impossible to go wrong with cute cats that have wings!

These books are still ridiculous and I still love them. The stories within their pages are filled with the most outlandish and absurd plots that one could imagine. But there is something about their ridiculousness that draws me in and keeps me coming back for more. Maybe it's the way they make me laugh out loud, or the fact that they allow me to escape from the reality of the world for a little while. Whatever the reason, I can't get enough of these books. They are a source of joy and entertainment for me, and I will continue to cherish them for as long as I can.

I really enjoyed reading the story about Alexander and the Catwings.

At first, I thought the writing was a bit slow-paced. It took me some time to get fully engaged in the narrative.

However, I have decided that I will read more of the Catwings books. I want to see if, as I continue reading, I will get used to the writing style and become more immersed in the world of the Catwings.

I'm curious to discover what other adventures and experiences the characters will have.

Maybe with more exposure, I will come to appreciate the unique charm and details that the author has put into these stories.

So, despite the initial slowness, I'm looking forward to delving deeper into the Catwings series and seeing where it takes me.

I believe there might be many interesting surprises waiting for me as I explore further.

Evie's Review:

I absolutely loved it! The story was really engaging and exciting. However, the only drawback was that Jane was afraid, and I didn't quite like that aspect. I firmly believe that in the next book, Jane should gather the courage to overcome her fear of rats and launch an attack - Muahahahahahaha!

I really liked the part where Alexander found friends. It was heartwarming to see how he managed to build connections. As it was stated - from Evie CATS MWUHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA!

What 9-year-olds find funny can be quite strange. I have no clue what "CATS MWUHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA!" means, but Evie was adamant that she be permitted to type it. When I sought clarification, she simply said, "it's funny." She's a HUGE fan of cats, though.

These books are quick listens, narrated by the talented Ursula Le Guin. They are illustrated chapter books, and while I follow along in the Kindle app, Evie is less interested in that particular part.

It's interesting to see how Evie's mind works and what aspects of the story she latches onto. Her review gives a unique perspective on the books and shows her enthusiasm for the characters and the plot.

Overall, these books seem to be a hit with Evie, and I'm looking forward to seeing what she thinks of the next installment.

Another adorable adventure starring the cats with wings unfolds. This time, it's the littlest Jane who meets Alexander. His mother firmly believes that he is wonderful.

When his parents and sisters are taking a nap, Alexander decides to go exploring. He discovers a big and scary world outside. There are trucks, barking dogs, and trees that are easy to climb up but extremely scary to climb down.

This is where Jane comes to the rescue. She bravely helps Alexander overcome his fears.

Alexander has a happy ending. He becomes the cat wanted by the human children who feed and care for the catwings. Moreover, he gets to visit his friend, Jane. Jane finally manages to work past the trauma in the attic (from the previous book), just as Alexander worked past his fear of heights.

This story is not only adorable and cute but also provides a valuable lesson about working past fears and relying on friends for help. It's a charming tale that will surely delight readers of all ages.

About a quarter of the way through this charming book that tells the story of Alexander, a cat without wings, my son looks at me with a hint of curiosity in his eyes and says, "Where are the Catwings?"

Just then, as if on cue, Jane shows up. And from that moment on, the book takes a beautiful turn and becomes about a loving friendship and the process of recovery from a trauma in the most enchanting and lovely kind of way.

The author has done a wonderful job of creating a world that young children can easily relate to and get lost in. The characters are well-developed and the plot is engaging, making it a great choice for children who are just beginning to explore chapter books.

I would strongly recommend this series to all parents and teachers looking for quality reading material for young children. It not only entertains but also teaches important life lessons in a gentle and accessible way.

Fantastic! This is an amazing book that is suitable for readers of all ages. In today's society, very few of us are truly accepting. However, this book provides us, the readers, with a wonderful collection of characters who are free from prejudices. It is truly a priceless gem.

Oh, and did I mention that there are cats in the story? That's an added bonus for all the cat lovers out there!

My only problem is that there is only one book left in the series. What am I supposed to do when I finish this one? I'm already dreading the end. I hope the author decides to write more books in this series. It's just that good!

Simply the BEST of the series!!! Although I was loving it, I didn't have many expectations for these books, but the third one surprised me a LOT! Having an initial point of view that is not of one of the brothers enriched the story even more! Not to mention the moral lesson at the end, which is also adorable! I loved it, loved it, loved it! The best and my favorite!!!

The series has been quite an enjoyable read so far, but this third installment truly stands out. The unique perspective introduced at the beginning adds a new layer of depth and intrigue to the narrative. It makes the story more engaging and allows the reader to see the events from a different angle.

The moral lesson at the end is a wonderful addition. It not only provides a valuable takeaway but also gives the story a sense of closure and purpose. It's heartwarming and makes the reader reflect on the importance of certain values. Overall, this book is a must-read for fans of the series and anyone looking for an entertaining and thought-provoking read.

A Charming Cat's Bildungsroman

A charming bildungsroman for a cat, compressed into a chapter book, yet still possessing the expected subtleties from the talented Le Guin.

Alexander, the vanilla cat without wings, is the absolute apple of his mother's eye. As a result, he has developed an oversized head. He thinks that fences are beneath him, so one fateful day, he escapes his sheltered life and bravely ventures into the wild beyond. However, he soon finds himself treed and stuck. Enter Jane from book #2, the enigmatic and rescued Catwing. Her vocabulary consists solely of "me" and "HATE", but she somehow manages to coax Alexander down the tree and leads him to Overhill Farm.

What follows is an accelerated arc for Alexander. He repays Jane's kindness with a gift of his own. Along the way, we gain insights into childhood trauma and how it has affected Jane (although not necessarily how to properly address such trauma, considering this is a kids' book). Thankfully, even though Alexander ultimately discovers a new life and broadens his perspective, at his core, he remains charmingly full of himself.

Throughout the story, I unearthed some golden nuggets from Le Guin. For instance, when Alexander says, "I climbed this tree yesterday. I spent the night here. I'm not quite sure which way is the right way down." And the strange bird points a paw down at the ground, Alexander replies, "I know." Also, when a woman exclaims, "Oh, what a wonderful tail! What a wonderful kitten!" and scratches him under the chin, Alexander thinks, "What an intelligent woman." And finally, when Roger very solemnly says, "Alexander, you are wonderful," Alexander simply responds, "I know." These moments add depth and charm to the tale.
