Thanks, Elsa, for bringing this early reader series to my attention. It's truly wonderful. My early reader devoured two of these books this afternoon and is already eager to return to the library for more tomorrow. I really appreciate the simplicity of the plot and the choice of words. They are charming and sweet stories. However, I must admit that I read these as a child and then completely forgot about them for 25 years. So, they didn't have a profound and lasting impact on me, nor did they leave me with particularly cherished memories. Nevertheless, compared to most of the mindless drivel in the early reader section of the library, these books are much better. They offer a pleasant and engaging reading experience for young children, which is definitely a plus.

I would read all four little books in Ursula Le Guin's series about winged cats in one go because they are short and quick. However, the first one has already been painfully difficult for me to read due to recent traumas in my life.

This first volume deals with little cats with wings who follow a path without their mother and encounter humans who respect their freedom, accepting them as they are.

The story seems to offer a glimmer of hope and acceptance in a world that can sometimes be cruel. It makes me wonder if, like the winged cats, we too can find those who will respect our individuality and freedom.

Despite the difficulty I had in reading it, I am still curious to see where the rest of the series will take me. Maybe it will offer some solace or a new perspective on my own life's challenges.

This one, the first, is still the best.

It has great illustrations. The illustrations of the kids and kittens are especially charming.

This is a wonderful booklet.

The others, including the omnibus, are also good.

However, this one is truly wonderful.

Trust me on this.

Once you pick it up, you'll be back, again and again.

You'll find yourself drawn to the beautiful images and engaging stories within.

It's a book that will bring joy and entertainment to readers of all ages.

Whether you're a child or an adult, you'll love this wonderful booklet.

My daughter brought this wonderful piece home from school.

When I saw who the author was, a wave of delight washed over me, and I couldn't wait to sit down and read it with her.

My daughter's eyes widened with excitement when I showed her a couple of my own books that had the same author's name on them.

We then settled down and embarked on a great reading session together.

As we delved into the story, our bond grew stronger, and I found myself more and more impressed with her school.

The school's choice of this particular author's work to introduce to the students was truly inspired.

This book is truly heartwarming and has the power to transport me back to my childhood days when I used to eagerly read "BOBO" magazines.

It holds profound life meanings about persevering in one's own life. Despite the challenges of being different from others and constantly facing difficulties as there will always be those who bother you, as time progresses, you will encounter people who will welcome you warmly and make you feel loved.

I have learned that this book has a series, and I am determined to read every single one of them if they are accessible in my Libby libraries.

An added advantage is that this book consists of only 40 pages. As a slow reader, I have derived great pleasure from this book due to its concise page length and the abundance of beautiful picture illustrations that are a visual delight.

I highly recommend that you read this book whenever you have the opportunity!

Holy Cats!

This teeny tiny story is truly and absolutely adorable!

On the surface, it's a charming tale about four sibling cats, each born with wings. Their mother encourages them to fly away from the bad neighborhood where they were born and seek a new and safe place to live. The cats bravely do just that. Along the way, they encounter various dangers. But finally, they discover a couple of human children in the country who mean them no harm.

Beneath the surface, however, lies a deeper story about acceptance in a world where being different is often not acceptable. After all, whoever heard of cats with wings? Birds are supposed to have wings, and when these flying cats come along, the birds' avian lives are disrupted and threatened. It's as if they are being told, "Don't rock the boat and mess with the status quo, Catwings!"

Amidst all the danger and discrimination, the flying cats find two children who see their differences as wonderful. Even though they know they must keep the cats a secret to protect them from a world that would only view them as anomalies to be exploited or perhaps even destroyed. As Hank said rather fiercely, "And we'll never ever tell anybody else. Ever! Because—you know how people are. If people saw them—"

Now, I simply must go and find the next installments in this Catwings series because these little cats with wings are just way too dang cute!

My very first time reading anything penned by Ursula LeGuin has been an absolute delight. The story itself was undeniably cute, filled with charming characters and a sweet little plot that kept me engaged from start to finish.

However, what truly caught my eye and made this reading experience even more special were the beautiful illustrations that accompanied the text. Each one was a work of art, adding an extra layer of depth and charm to the story.

I find myself completely smitten with this book and I think I'll be eagerly picking up "Catwings Return" very soon. I can't wait to see what other wonderful stories and illustrations await me in the world of Ursula LeGuin. :)
