I'll just be over here, sobbing over the wholesome story of four flying cats being adopted by adorable children. This wonderful tale was written by the grandmother of science fiction and fantasy, Ursula K. Le Guin.

The story is truly heartwarming, filled with charm and magic. The idea of flying cats being taken in by kind and loving children is just too precious for words.

And to make matters even better, my kids want to read "more cat stories." It's so great to see their enthusiasm for reading and their love for these furry little creatures.

I can't wait to share more stories with them, and maybe even introduce them to some of Ursula K. Le Guin's other works.

Who knows, maybe one day they'll grow up to be great writers themselves, inspired by the likes of Le Guin and her amazing imagination.

Read this to my baby in a few sittings. It's an old favorite that I have cherished for a long time. However, this time around, it seemed to have lost a little of its magic. Maybe it's because I've read it so many times before. But still, it has its charm. The story is engaging and filled with wonderful characters and adventures. It's the kind of book that can transport you to another world and make you forget about your own troubles for a while. Overall, I would rate it 3.5 stars. It's not a perfect book, but it's definitely worth reading. I'm sure my baby will enjoy it too, just as I have.

For those who are interested, the 2023 edition brings several notable changes from the original text.

On page 8, the phrase "Pigeons are really dumb," which was muttered by James, has now been revised to "Pigeons aren't very smart."

Turning to page 23, the description "for his left wing soon grew stiff and lame" has been altered to "for his left wing soon grew stiff and weak."

Page 32 now reads "James, flying low and stiff," instead of the previous "James, flying low and lame."

Finally, on page 34, Susan's hissed comment "You think I'm stupid?" has been replaced with "You think I don't know that?"

It is worth noting that four forbidden words - dumb, lame, queer, and stupid - have been excised from the new editions. However, it bothers me that the alliteration on page 32 has been lost, and the only hissing S word on page 34 is now entirely absent. Additionally, I find it concerning that we can't use the real definition of the word "lame" simply because it has been misused as a playground taunt, likely having nothing to do with physical disability.

This was a rather sweet story indeed.

It had all the elements that could make one's heart melt. The characters were well-developed, and their interactions were filled with warmth and charm.

And then, there was the ending. Oh, the ending was just lovely! It was the kind of ending that left a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart.

It's no secret that I have an intense love for Ursula K. Le Guin.

I made up my mind to devour everything she has written, so I obtained these kids' books, namely the Catwings series. This particular one is the first in the series.

They possess the same firm sense of reality and that poignant feeling of longing that many of her fantasies crafted for adult readers convey.

These books would serve as an excellent introduction for any child to UKL's body of work. However, they are also precious gems of great beauty that grown-ups can cherish with equal fervor.

The concept of cats with wings is simply perfect. For some inexplicable reason, it just feels right.

UKL's books always have this inherent sense of rightness about them, something that defies easy explanation.

The things she invents seem as if they were unearthed rather than fabricated. She shares this quality with Tolkien, and as a result, they are the only two fantasy writers whom I truly hold dear.

Today, I'm heartbroken for a completely non-cat- and non-wing-related reason. But miraculously, these charming characters are precisely what I required to nourish and heal my soul.

Tomorrow, I'm taking them to someone I hold very dear, someone whom I hope will experience the rush of wings and the gentle brush of a tail, and be fed and healed just as I was.

Everything this woman writes is pure gold. It's truly remarkable. Even a 40-page story about cats with wings is captivating. In this story, we learn that most of the birds, in fact, were more frightened and outraged than actually endangered. It's an interesting perspective that makes us think about the relationships between different animals.

As for me, I'm off to go try to be more like a mouse. Maybe I'll learn some new skills or gain a different perspective on life. Who knows what adventures await? I'm excited to find out.
