Last Spooktober, I had the pleasure of reading another remarkable manga by this talented author. So, when I was invited to buddy-read this one too, I had no hesitation.

It all begins with a young couple enjoying a vacation in Okinawa. Tadashi, while diving, narrowly escapes being killed by two sharks. He manages to make his way back onto the boat, where we are introduced to his girlfriend, Kaori. And let me tell you, she is quite the unpleasant character! Constantly complaining, yelling, calling Tadashi stupid, and bossing him around, yet never lifting a finger herself.

To be honest, I wanted them to meet their untimely demise as soon as possible - what a great start! *lol*

However, the story is not just about these two and their personalities. It's more about what they discover and get involved in. For the fish have started growing legs and are now moving onto land!

How can fish sprout legs and survive on land? That's a great question, and it's answered in the first volume of this duology. But I won't spoil it for you.

Just like in his other work (a trilogy), the author has managed to create some truly creepy body horror in this manga as well. I have to admit that the other manga appealed to me more so far, but I appreciate that the apparent slasher fest and body horror elements are once again intelligently crafted.

The artwork is in black-and-white and, well, not as detailed as in the other manga. Nevertheless, it still manages to convey that sense of dread you feel when you run out of the water to safety, only to realize that this time, there is no escape.

How on earth did he manage to get under that principal post!? It's truly astonishing. Excuse me, Mr. Ito. I just have to ask, are you completely certain that you haven't overlooked any of the pages? This situation seems rather peculiar and makes one wonder if there's something we're not seeing. Maybe there's a hidden explanation or a detail that was missed. It's important to double-check everything to ensure that we have a full understanding of what's going on. We can't just assume that everything is as it seems. There could be more to this than meets the eye.

This is extremely creepy! Oh, the gore! It's a love/hate relationship for sure.

I was both repulsed and fascinated by the gruesome scenes. The amount of blood and the detailed portrayal of violence were almost too much to handle.

Yet, there was something about it that kept me hooked. Maybe it was the morbid curiosity or the desire to see how far it would go.

The total time taken to experience this was 34 minutes and 30 seconds, which felt like an eternity.

But in the end, I'm not sure if I'm glad I watched it or if I wish I had turned away.

It's one of those things that will stay with me for a while, leaving me with a strange mix of emotions.

Estado: todos los tomos/capítulos leidos.

This state indicates that all volumes/chapters have been read. It implies a sense of completion and achievement. When one reaches this state, it means they have gone through the entire text or collection.

It could signify that the reader has gained a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter covered in those volumes or chapters. It might also suggest that they have invested a significant amount of time and effort in the reading process.

However, it's important to note that simply having read all the tomos/capítulos doesn't necessarily mean full comprehension or retention. Further reflection, analysis, and perhaps even discussion or review may be needed to truly internalize and make the most of the knowledge gained.

In conclusion, while the state of having read all the tomos/capítulos is an important milestone, it should be seen as a starting point for further exploration and learning.

Fascinated.

This author's mind is truly a remarkable and captivating entity. It can be likened to a beautiful maze, a labyrinthine wonder that is simultaneously alluring and filled with horrors.

As I delve into the works of this author, I find myself irresistibly drawn into this mental maze. The horrors that lurk within add an element of excitement and mystery, making the experience of wandering through this mind all the more thrilling.

I have an insatiable love for exploring the nooks and crannies of this author's imagination, uncovering the hidden secrets and terrors that lie within.

It is as if I am on a never-ending adventure, constantly being surprised and intrigued by the twists and turns that this beautiful maze presents.

This author's mind is a unique and enchanting place, and I am more than happy to lose myself within its boundaries.

What would happen if one day the fish could come out of the sea and walk, leaving a stench of putrefaction in their wake?

This is such a strange and imaginative scenario. It's hard to even picture it clearly in our minds. But it does make you wonder what kind of chaos and strange events might unfold.

Maybe the world would be filled with this unpleasant smell, and people would have to find ways to deal with it. Or perhaps the fish that could walk would have some kind of special powers or abilities that would change the balance of nature.

Instead of being scared, this story actually makes me laugh a lot xD. It's so absurd and outlandish that it's almost comical. It shows the power of our imagination and how we can come up with the craziest ideas.

Who knows, maybe one day something like this will actually happen in a fictional world or in a dream. But for now, we can just enjoy the fun and creativity of this story.

While I truly admire the vivid imagination that is involved in this story, unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it very much.

I was eagerly expecting a spine-chilling horror experience, but what I got was just something gross and completely lacking in spookiness.

The entire plot was so ridiculously weird that it actually veered into the comical realm.

The two main characters were just awful people. Their actions and personalities were such that I couldn't help but kind of hope that the shark with legs or some other strange creature would come along and eat them.

Overall, this particular piece was simply not to my taste. It failed to deliver the kind of horror and excitement that I was looking for, and instead left me with a sense of disappointment.

Maybe for some people, this strange and comical take on a supposed horror story might be entertaining, but for me, it just didn't hit the mark.

The basic premise of Gyo is truly ridiculous. It's a concept that, on the surface, might seem almost laughable. However, what Junji Ito manages to do with this premise is nothing short of remarkable.

He extracts an astonishing amount of creepiness, suspense, and plain effectiveness from it all. Despite the absurdity, the story manages to draw the reader in and keep them on the edge of their seats.

While I would have to admit that this first volume is my least favorite of the works by Junji Ito that I've read thus far, it's still an incredibly great story. There are several moments within it that are truly unforgettable.

Notably, the first reveal of the monster is both terrifying and awe-inspiring. It's a moment that sticks with you long after you've turned the page.

The shark attack chapter is another standout. The way Ito描绘s the chaos and horror of the situation is masterful.

Overall, Gyo is a testament to Junji Ito's talent as a storyteller. Even with a premise that might seem challenging, he is able to create a story that is engaging, thrilling, and ultimately, very effective.

Absolutely ape-shit crazy. This is truly one of the strangest, most grotesque, and most disgusting things I have ever come across. And this holds true for both volumes, but the true shock factor is in volume 1.

My tastes typically lean towards the extreme. It can be quite challenging to find something that meets that description and isn't just pure gore or pure pornography. Well, this is it. It's one of those things that makes you wonder if there is something very distinct in the makeup of Japanese culture that only surfaces in its creative art. I don't mean this as any sort of insult. In fact, I think this is genius on a Lovecraftian / jaw-dropping level.

As a general rule, I don't add "old" books to Goodreads. The reason being that I would spend all my time trying to recall what I read years ago. And yes, I did read this a couple of years ago. I had almost forgotten about it, but it's so bizarre that I simply can't help but add it here.

If you don't get offended easily or at all, I highly recommend reading this. It's a truly unique and mind-bending experience that will leave you both horrified and fascinated.

Kairo couldn't be such a stupid character.

At the age of 3, he was like a slobbery baby.

He had a round face with big, innocent eyes that seemed to look at the world with wonder. His chubby cheeks were always rosy, as if he had just come in from the cold.

He would often giggle and make funny noises, attracting the attention of those around him.

Even though he was only 3 years old, he already showed signs of a mischievous nature. He would sometimes hide his toys and then pretend not to know where they were, just to see the reactions of others.

Overall, Kairo was a可爱的 and charming child, despite his reputation for being a bit of a笨蛋.

The story was rather dumb. It lacked depth and substance, and seemed to be going nowhere.

However, despite its lack of intelligence, it had a strange effect on me. It made me feel sick to my stomach.

I'm not sure why this was the case. Maybe it was the way the story was told, or perhaps it was something in the subject matter that hit a nerve.

Either way, I guess it worked in a strange sort of way. It managed to evoke an emotional response from me, even if that response wasn't a positive one.

In the end, I'm left wondering if this was the author's intention all along. Was the story supposed to be dumb and yet still have an impact?

Or was it just a happy accident that it made me feel the way I did?

Whatever the case may be, I can't deny that the story had an effect on me, and that's something that I'll remember for a while.
