*Long Hair in the Attic* received 2.5 stars, with many people liking the attic part. :D

The approval rating was 1 star.

The *beehive* aspect got 3 stars as some liked the melancholy feeling of the story.

*Dying young* only had a 1-star rating.

The *headless statues* also received 1 star.

The *flesh colored horror* managed to get 3 stars.

This is a sweet little series of short stories.

It seems that different elements of the stories had varying levels of appeal to the readers. The attic part and the melancholy feeling of the story related to the beehive were more liked, while the concepts of dying young and headless statues didn't quite resonate as much. The flesh colored horror, however, had its own charm for some. Overall, it's an interesting collection that offers a range of experiences within its short stories.

I had seen some of Ito's work before delving into this particular piece. In fact, I initially thought that his style seemed rather appealing. However, this one turned out to be a rather lackluster beginning for someone like me who was attempting to immerse myself in his body of work. From the narratives to the artistic presentation, everything felt a bit lackluster and not nearly as captivating as the brief glimpses I had come across on the internet. The concepts behind the stories were indeed quite intriguing, but they didn't really explore the horror element to a great extent, or at least not as much as I had hoped.

Hopefully, the next installment will bring that sparkle and excitement that I've been eagerly anticipating. I'm still holding out hope that Ito has more to offer and that I'll be able to discover the true essence of his talent in future works. Maybe with a different set of stories and a more in-depth exploration of the horror genre, he can truly shine and live up to the expectations that I had formed based on those initial impressions.

I've only read a few Junji Ito collections, but I've really enjoyed all of them.

So many authors, when penning short horror story anthologies, rely on truly tired tropes and predictable plot twists.

However, all of Junji Ito's stories possess really original aspects that I'm never anticipating.

It's truly a delight to be able to actually be taken aback by what's unfolding.

His works have this unique charm that keeps me on the edge of my seat with every turn of the page.

The way he weaves his tales, with such vivid imagery and unexpected developments, makes for an unforgettable reading experience.

I can't wait to explore more of his collections and see what other surprises he has in store for his readers.

Junji Ito is truly a master of the horror genre, and I highly recommend his works to anyone who loves a good scare.

As is often the case with Ito's works, at least for me, it was just okay.

The artwork was truly great. The details and the overall aesthetic were captivating, drawing you into the story and making you feel as if you were part of that strange and often terrifying world.

The plot was also quite good. It had interesting twists and turns that kept you engaged and eager to see what would happen next. However, the dialogue left something to be desired. It felt a bit flat and didn't always add to the atmosphere or the development of the characters.

And then there was the ending. After all the build-up and anticipation, it just didn't have the pay-off that I was hoping for. It felt rushed and a bit anti-climactic, leaving me with a sense of disappointment. Overall, while there were some great aspects to the work, the mediocre dialogue and lackluster ending prevented it from being truly outstanding.

These changes have made me more resilient, more adaptable, and more open to new possibilities.

I've learned to embrace the unknown and trust that everything will work out for the best.

My life is no longer the same, and I'm excited to see where this new journey takes me.

5/5 stars!

I was truly captivated by the remarkable depth that each story in this collection possessed.

As I delved into the pages, I couldn't help but be filled with a sense of unease that added an extra layer of intrigue to the reading experience.

What truly stood out for me, however, was the storyline of the last story. It had a certain charm and complexity that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

The author's ability to create such vivid and engaging stories is truly commendable.

I would highly recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys thought-provoking and captivating literature.

Some early Junji Ito work can be found here. If you have the opportunity to get your hands on it, "The Long Hair in the Attic" and "Headless Sculptures" (both of which have been adapted for the Netflix series) are truly worth the price of admission. I was fortunate enough to obtain them for free, but even if I had to pay, I believe they would be well worth it. Junji Ito's unique style of horror and his ability to create disturbing and atmospheric stories make these works stand out. The detailed illustrations and the twisted plots will keep you on the edge of your seat. Whether you are a fan of horror or just looking for something different to read, these early works of Junji Ito are definitely worth checking out.

It was a Junji Ito short story collection.

To be specific, it was indeed quite fantastic. However, when compared to his remarkable and extensive catalog of work, it didn't stand out as something extremely special.

The story "Headless Sculptures" was uniquely bad, lacking the usual charm and creativity that Ito is known for.

Nonetheless, I still found enjoyment in the rest of the stories within the collection.

Although some of them gave the impression of being a little redundant when compared to Ito's other works, they still had their own merits.

Perhaps it was the unique art style or the way Ito managed to create an atmosphere of unease and mystery that kept me engaged.

Overall, while not his best work, the collection still had enough to offer for fans of Junji Ito.

This manga was just okay.

The art was truly beautiful. It had a certain charm that could easily draw the reader in and make them appreciate the visual aspects.

The plot of each story was interesting and engaging. It had the ability to capture the reader's attention and keep them hooked from the beginning. However, all of them had a lackluster ending.

Just when the story was finally getting somewhere, building up momentum and anticipation, it was suddenly over. It felt as if the author had rushed to conclude the story without giving it the proper closure it deserved.

Despite the disappointing endings, it was still an interesting read. The overall concept and the way the stories were developed were captivating. It just left the reader with a sense of longing for better endings that could have made the manga even more outstanding.

I'm going to take a bit of a risk and state that the Tomie sequence was marginally better.

The endings in this particular instance aren't quite as unsettling. Perhaps this is because you lack the additional thrill of being aware that, indeed, the monsters in this sequence will return.

Nonetheless, it remains an enjoyable read. It has its own charm and elements that keep the reader engaged.

The story might not have the same level of disturbing factor as the Tomie sequence, but it still manages to hold the reader's attention and provide an entertaining experience.

It's interesting to compare the two, and while the Tomie sequence may have had a certain edge, this one has its own merits and is worth exploring.

Overall, it's a fun read that can offer some light entertainment and a break from the ordinary.
