This one is going to become one of my favorites by Junji Ito and also one of the ones that scared me the most.

Junji Ito's works are known for their unique and terrifying art style and storytelling. This particular piece seems to have all the elements that make his work so captivating.

The way he builds up the tension and the sense of dread is truly masterful. The characters and the setting are both brought to life in a way that makes it easy for the reader to immerse themselves in the story.

As I was reading, I could feel my heart pounding and my skin crawling. It's not often that a horror story can have such a powerful effect on me.

I can't wait to see what other amazing works Junji Ito has in store for us. This one has definitely set the bar high.

There are just too many stories that involve kids, and they really mess with me a little bit.

These stories are often filled with the most unexpected and hilarious situations that can make you both laugh and scratch your head.

However, what's truly remarkable is the level of creativity and interest they bring.

Kids have such vivid imaginations, and their actions and words can lead to some truly unique and engaging tales.

Whether it's a mischievous prank gone wrong or a heartwarming act of kindness, these stories never fail to capture our attention.

They remind us of the innocence and spontaneity of childhood, and how anything is possible in the world of a child's imagination.

So, even though they might mess with us from time to time, these stories involving kids are truly a source of entertainment and inspiration.

Ngl, I have a penchant for some twisted horror graphic stories every now and then.

Several years ago, I delved into Junji Ito's 'Uzumaki'. Although I'm not a die-hard enthusiast of body horror, I actually found 'Uzumaki' quite captivating due to its remarkable originality and spine-chilling nature. The majority of the 6 stories in this anthology are not only unique but also hair-raising. They utilize body horror in a manner that makes you feel queasy yet not completely revolted.

However, I was slightly perturbed by the final story, which incidentally is also my favorite among them all, the eponymous 'Flesh-Coloured Horror'. This is because it contains some rather explicit child abuse scenes that I, personally, was not very comfortable with. So, a trigger warning for that.

Overall, despite this one aspect that made me a bit uneasy, Junji Ito's 'Uzumaki' remains a fascinating and memorable work of horror literature that I would recommend to those with a taste for the macabre and the unusual.

Junji Ito is truly one of my all-time favorite manga artists. I have a particular penchant for his short stories. However, in this volume, I didn't have an overly enjoyable experience with most of them, except for two. That's precisely why I'll be adding ratings for each individual story as well.

The Long Hair in the Attic ⭐⭐

A girl with a broken heart meets a mysterious end.

Approval ⭐⭐

A man embarks on an endless pursuit to obtain his girlfriend's father's permission to marry her.

Beehive ⭐⭐⭐

This is a scary and original tale about two boys engaged in a strange competition to collect beehives.

Dying Young ⭐⭐

A strange disease infiltrates a school, first making the girls prettier and then resulting in their deaths.

Headless Sculptures ⭐⭐

An artist has the peculiar habit of sculpting only headless bodies.

Flesh-Colored Horror ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is my absolute favorite story in the volume. It's a creepy narrative about a violent boy who initially appears to be a villain but is ultimately revealed to be a victim of unspeakable abuse and terror. It's a true Junji Ito horror masterpiece!
