**This is a spoiler free review (spoilers are hidden); it may contain spoilers for previous instalments in series (scroll down)**

After the previous volume, which I firmly believed to be the best one up until now, this particular volume is a bit of a letdown. I find myself rating it just slightly below the mark of "good". That being said, I have a hunch that the pace will pick up very soon as the intricate scheming involving the Yotsuba Corporation unfolds.

The first segment of this volume, I must admit, was significantly better than the second half. After the shocking conclusion of Light relinquishing the Death Note, I was eagerly anticipating the confinement storyline, and it did not disappoint. However, this part lasted much shorter than I had expected. When the plot advanced, even though I think the way it was wrapped up was well done, I wasn't quite prepared for the next segment to take such a drastic turn.

Honestly,

I don't really have much interest in the corporation aspect. The only part of the storyline that intrigues me is the fact that now the readers are on L's side, and we too can attempt to figure out which one of the board members is the third Kira.

But overall,

I am really missing Ryuk. He was completely absent from this volume, and he happens to be my favorite Shinigami. Although I have a preference for Rem's design, Ryuk has so much more personality and is, in my opinion, the heart and soul of this series. I truly hope he makes a return. I also wonder if Light will regain the Death Note because I adored the back and forth between him and L. Currently, he just seems a bit dull...

All in all, I thought this volume was okay. It wasn't as outstanding as the previous ones, but then again, not everything can be 100% enjoyable all the time, right?

The first half was quite good.

However, then there was this Yotsublah blah blah blah. It's a bit of a letdown after the promising start.

I really hope that whatever the issue is with the "Yotsublah blah blah blah" gets fixed soon.

Maybe it's a technical glitch or something that can be easily resolved.

Until then, it's kind of dampening the overall experience.

But I'm still holding out hope that things will improve and we can get back to enjoying the good parts without the distraction of the mysterious "Yotsublah blah blah blah".

I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds and if this problem will be rectified.

I am getting fatter and fatter. ^^

This situation has become a bit of a concern for me. I used to be quite fit and active, but now I find that I have gained a significant amount of weight.

I think there could be several reasons for this. Maybe I have been eating too much junk food and not getting enough exercise. Or perhaps there are some underlying health issues that are causing the weight gain.

Whatever the reason, I know that I need to take action. I have decided to start a healthy diet and exercise plan. I will cut back on the junk food and increase my intake of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. I will also make sure to get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.

I am determined to get back in shape and feel good about myself again. I know it won't be easy, but I am willing to put in the effort. Wish me luck!

Hmmm, this new company is truly a direction that I didn't anticipate.

However, despite that, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

The experience with this company has been quite unique.

I have come to realize how this series is extremely word heavy.

There is a lot of detailed information and communication involved.

It requires careful attention and a good understanding of the language.

But even with the wordiness, I find it fascinating.

It allows for a deeper exploration of the subject matter.

I am looking forward to seeing where this new direction takes me and what more I can learn from it.

Overall, it has been a pleasant surprise and I am excited to continue this journey with the new company.

This volume, unfortunately, didn't measure up to the others. After Light was compelled to give up the Death Note, the story seemed to lose its momentum. I should have anticipated this turn of events, but for some reason, I thought there might be a workaround or that the plot wouldn't lose its charm once someone else had the Death Note.

However, the cat and mouse game between L and Light could only persist for so long before this significant step was necessary. It was only logical that it couldn't continue indefinitely without becoming tiresome. Eventually, their mind games had to conclude to make way for something new. Still, I believe the decision to place the Death Note in the hands of a finance company wasn't the wisest, and although the mystery of which of the eight board members has the Death Note is interesting, it doesn't completely captivate me. That being said, my bet is on either Reiji Namikawa or Shingo Mido. *lol* Both of them are strategic thinkers and would stand to gain a great deal by assisting Yotsuba Finance. Just saying. XD

Tsugumi Ohba clearly attempted to infuse some new life into the plot by introducing two criminals, Aiber – a con artist – and Wedy – a burglar and picklock – into the task force. They are indeed a nice addition to the cast. I'm not entirely convinced by the police's decision to disband the task force and prohibit its members from uncovering who Kira is, though. Kira remains a mystery, and his murders are all over the news, so this seems like a strange choice. Additionally, the fact that the task force lost another member due to the official disbandment felt a bit off.

I'm not too certain how everything will unfold in the next volume, but the fact that the financial sharks have taken over doesn't exactly make it more appealing to me. The corporate aspect simply isn't as engaging as the personal one. I've been informed that it improves in the next volume, so I'll continue with the series and see if Volume 6 works for me. Fingers crossed! XD

This was okay, not as good as the first four volumes but still passable. I kind of missed L's and Light's mind games in this one. XD

Full RTC soon! It won't be long, but I want to write at least a short one. ;-)

August has been the worst reading month ever. I haven't even managed to finish a single book, and it's already the 26th. To be honest, my hubby being hospitalized has drained the life out of me and plunged me into a terrible reading slump. =(

Let's hope "Death Note" can pull me out of it. If I read a few mangas, perhaps I'll get back into the reading groove. Wish me luck! On the plus side, I'm really eager to know how this story continues after Vol.4, so my curiosity might come in handy. *fingers crossed*

There are simply too many of these corrupt businessmen. It's truly a sorry state of affairs. They seem to have no regard for ethics or the law as they pursue their own greedy interests.

Their actions not only harm the economy but also the lives of countless people. It's disheartening to see how they get away with their misdeeds, often leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

We need to take stronger measures to hold them accountable and clean up this mess. It's time for a change, and we can't afford to let these corrupt businessmen continue to thrive.

We must stand up and say enough is enough. Only then can we hope to build a more just and prosperous society for all.

With the completion of \\n  DEATHNOTE, VOLUME 5: WHITEOUT,\\n, I find myself almost reaching the halfway point of this captivating manga series.

It seems that Light has hatched an extremely elaborate scheme in collaboration with Ryuk and Rem. The aim is to permanently throw L off his trail while simultaneously obtaining that crucial final piece of the puzzle, which is L's real name. Although the reader is not privy to the details of this plan, from what can be observed in this volume, Light has relinquished his ownership of the DeathNote. Consequently, his memories of it and his actions have vanished. Suddenly, his pleas of innocence become genuine, leaving L and the task force thoroughly confused.

Adding to the complexity of Light's scheme is the realization that there is a new Kira in Japan. Someone else has come into possession of a DeathNote, and their intention is to satisfy their greed and amass wealth.

However, I must admit that this volume is a bit lackluster when compared to the previous four. I finally found myself growing a bit bored with the never-ending dance between Light and L around the truth. Therefore, I sincerely hope that the narrative undergoes a significant change in the next volume, presenting readers with something fresh and exciting to enjoy and explore.

Death Note, Vol. 5: Whiteout (Death Note #5) is a captivating installment in the series.

After spending a week confined with only Ryuk for companionship, Light reaches a point where he is willing to relinquish his Death Note and all memories associated with it. Believing himself to be innocent after being freed from his previous actions, Light is certain of his newfound state. However, L is determined to keep Light imprisoned indefinitely, especially considering that the killings ceased once Light was incarcerated.

Then, a new and unexpected wave of Kira crimes sweeps across Japan. It turns out that someone else has obtained a Death Note, but this time, the motives behind the killings are not centered around making the world a better place. Instead, they are focused on generating wealth. It seems that in this new chapter, big business has become intertwined with murder, and Kira has taken on a corporate guise.

The story takes an exciting turn as the battle between Light and L intensifies, and the true identity of the new Kira remains a mystery. With its engaging plot and well-developed characters, Death Note, Vol. 5: Whiteout continues to captivate readers and keep them on the edge of their seats.

Well, it's a strong beginning, but a rather weak ending. The passivity of Light in this volume annoys me, plus the new Kira line that they brought in with the corporate sharks. L is becoming more and more antipathetic to me because he has to be from the "good guys", yet he does and says (even thinks) quite amoral things for such a character type. Which on the other hand only makes Light shine even more. I'm still waiting for the trap of Yagami from volume 4 to snap, but apparently I'll have to wait a little longer. Misa I won't even comment on, her image irritates the feminist in me so much that at moments I actually want to throw away the manga. But only at moments.

This story has its highs and lows. The initial setup was quite engaging, with the introduction of new elements and the development of the characters. However, as it progressed, some of the decisions and actions of the characters seemed a bit off. Light's passivity was unexpected and didn't quite fit with his previous portrayal. And the addition of the new Kira line felt a bit forced and didn't add as much depth to the story as it could have.

L's character also had its flaws. While he was supposed to be the intelligent and rational detective, his actions and thoughts sometimes bordered on the unethical. This made it difficult for me to fully root for him. Misa's character, on the other hand, was just too one-dimensional and annoying. Her constant obsession with Light and her lack of any real substance made her a rather unlikable character.

Overall, while this volume had its moments, it wasn't as good as I had hoped. I'm still looking forward to seeing how the story progresses and whether the remaining volumes will be able to redeem some of the flaws in this one.

I really enjoyed this volume too!

It was filled with exciting plot twists and engaging characters that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

Although I do miss Ryuk, the new developments and storylines in this volume more than made up for his absence.

The author did an excellent job of creating a world that is both fascinating and complex, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Overall, this volume was a great addition to the series and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys thrilling and thought-provoking reads.
